In Short – Located in the gathering of restaurants and bars at 2416 Brazos, Open City stands out from the crowd with an unparalleled view of downtown from the trendy rooftop bar. The menu features upscale American comfort classics like meatloaf and mashed potatoes, chicken stew, gruyere mac and cheese, thick-cut pork chops and fresh fish. The modern dining room (which features late-night hours for the theater crowd) has an outdoor patio while the upstairs bar has a partially covered deck for rainy days.

Staff has terrible attitude!

by NakedSanta at Citysearch

This place has the potential to be one of the best spots in Houston based solely on location. The view of downtown is great, if you don't mind sacrificing good service and a welcoming attitude. Service is hard to find at Open City, and the roid-raging bouncers are looking more to fight than they are to keep control.

  • Pros: Beautiful view
  • Cons: Staff is terrible!

Really Bad Service!!!

by italianredrose at Citysearch

I have not been to Open City for about five months and I don't think I will be back. I originally enjoyed this restaurant and was excited to celebrate my birthday there but was disappointed in the aweful service and change of menu. Not only did our waitress disappear for 30 minutes (the nice bartender took our order) but the food could have been better and the staff made it seem like this was not a restaurant but a bar. I am very confused and disappointed in the transition of Open City and wish it could be more like it was when it first opened.

  • Pros: Good Mixed Drinks, Great View
  • Cons: Bad Service

How cool is that

by purplecat at Citysearch

After several visits with friends and family members , I realized this place is not for everyone. My friends liked the frozen Mojitos and the steaks. My parents as much as they enjoyed the food ( steaks , burgers etc. ) couldn't stand how loud it was inside so we moved outside on the patio, problem solved. So goes to show . But any how did i mention how good the steaks are !!!.

  • Pros: good food
  • Cons: lound dinning room
