“honestly expected a more professional atmosphere since the recommendation was from a friend in the industry, but will never return.”
“During the wait for our entrees, we re-filled our own wine glasses, ate semi-decent bisque (good flavor but tasted more like over-darkened roux mixed in with regular bisque), & watched as other patrons were brought baskets of crackers to tide them over (w”
“took my parents here back before Christmas thinking this could possibly be a replacement for my favorite seafood resturant in Houston, Jimmy Wilson's, after it changed hands and became an Italian place.”
“The music is fantastic with one of te most diverse and pleasing brunch buffets I have ever had.”
“My best guess is this is a restaurant where the owners from the very beginning decided to have food that was cooked the way they wanted it to taste.”
“In return for trying it Danton cooked him a really great grilled cheese.”
“we walked in, & got seated by a nice hostess and was promptly greeted by waitress.”
“but none cook a gumbo for 12 hours before serving it to their customers at a price which is not only good value but astonishingly and amazingly low.”
“It's the kinds place that is perfect to go with friends to drink beer and eat oysters, crawfish and shrimp after a long day on the beach or at work.”
Top Notch Seafood. Great seafood and service, loved it and can't wait to go back.
Extremely Disappointed. the food was expensive and definitely not worth it. everything we ordered was void of taste the cesar salad no taste, pecan crusted chicken no taste, crab burger to mushy and needed salt, the sauteed vegetables way over cooked and just plain mushy kinda felt like i was eating cooked spinach ( i hate spinach) and they took forever!!! to get are food the restaurant wasnt even half full i think there were more of the staff there then acutal pay customers... just not happy on of the worst places ive ever been i didnt even wwant to give it the star it has lol
Excellent!. My husband and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary at Danton's tonight. The food and service were excellent! We highly recommend!!!
Best Gumbo in Houston.
I've been attending Danton's Sunday Blues Brunches for the past few weeks listening to great master bluesmen practicing their craft over the best gumbo in the city. Their Courtbullion is one of the best I've ever had as well and we always finish off with their great bread pudding.
In the evenings it's a quiet romantic place to have dinner with your sweetie as well.
If you're thinking about going to Danton's for some good seafood, I highly recommend it.
delicious seafood. My husband and I attended the great Lamar High School 60th reunion celebration at Danton's. The buffet luncheon was delicious complete with gumbo, fried oysters, okra and tomatoes and bread pudding! Our thanks to Kyle and Danton!
Defines GULFCOAST seafood !. My family and I just moved Houston and had been wanting to try some good seafood. Never having lived near water the idea of having fresh caught fish and oysters sounded too good to be true. A coworker recommended we try Dantons and said we should ask for Amanda, she is always their server and they love her personality and great service. After going all I could do was say THANK YOU to my friend. Both the restaurant and the service were unbelievable. The fish was so fresh and the way they grill it, that chef definately knows what he's doing ! And Amanda gave us service to remember, she was more than happy to answer all of our questions and even offered advice on some sites to see around town. We will definately be back and will pay it forward by spreading the word !
The Oysters are BACK at Danton's!.
The best oysters in Houston. Monday nights, they are also the best deal in Houston as they slash prices in their oyster bar. So, yes, run, don't walk, if you are an oyster fan.
But the menu is so diverse, unique and soul-warming that it is often hard to choose. Our favorites include Kyle's Crab Salad (greens tossed with remoulade and bacon, then topped with big fat chunks of fresh lump crab and a cluster of skinny fried sweet potato strings); wood grilled fresh fish (available in 1/2 size orders!); the rich brothy gumbo roux (into which shrimp, crab and oysters are tossed to cook just prior to serving); and the crab and cheese stuffed jalapenos.
Whenever we visit, however, we are tortured by the non-seafood options, particularly the T-Wayne Boy sandwich (sliced pork sausage on french bread with red onion and creole mustard), the best sandwich around. Oh, and the debris.
Ordering is an impossible task made easier over a cold glass of chardonnay or a frosty martini, and the knowledge we can always come back next week and order what we missed today.
This is one of our very favorite places in Houston to dine.
AMAZING seafood!!. I have been to Danton's three times now, and each time I've had an all around GREAT dining experience. The staff has always been friendly and attentive from the second I walk in the front door. The servers and bartenders are very knowledgable about the food and drinks, and are friendly, which is something I experience less and less these days. Our server last time, Tara, made our experience exceptional!! The food here is just divine. I haven't had anything I didn't like. And I LOVE Monday nights, because the Oyster Bar has half price oysters and pretty good happy hour prices!!!! This is a great place to take a group of friends or business associates. It is sure to impress.
