Hands down, some of the best seafood in town. My favorite thing on the menu is the Crab Danton - been begging for the recipe for years! Chef Danton Nix made me re-think oysters altogether with his Baked Tasso Oysters dish -- think Gulf Coast oysters baked with a little garlic butter and topped with Tasso (seasoned Cajun ham) - my girlfriend nicknamed them "Hamsters".

Arguably some of the best gumbo in town – I've been going for years for the Monday night only Happy Hour special, where freshly shucked oysters are ½ price.

Fried oyster tacos are outstanding. Best seafood in Houston. Blues Brunch on Sunday. The gumbo is Houston's best.
What a great restaurant!. I am a seafood fanatic and I must say that the dishes at Danton's are not just good, they are the best. I cant remember a time that I have been able to go out with my friends like this and have them all get something they really enjoyed. I always have that one friend that sends his dishes back and this time he didn't. Our waiter, Alex, was excellent, really first rate. The oyster bar is also another really nice feature to this restaurant. You can go in there and catch the big game while eating your favorite seafood.
Gulf Seafood Excellence.
Im a native of Houston and also a fresh and saltwater fisherman. I am very familiar with what fresh seafood is all about. I have eaten lunch and dinner at most all the seafood establishments in Houston and Galveston and I have to say Danton's has hooked my vote for the most fresh and traditionaly prepared seafood dishes.
Nothing pretentious about the food. Great biscuit, eggs, bacon, ham and grits. Catfish enchiladas awsome. Nothing on the Brunch was overcooked or dryed out. Attention to detail was most evident even in the preparation of the fried oysters, mmmm just the right breading and still moist inside with a briny flavor and the remoulade, oh man I could eat this on everything. Desserts again was top notch. The white chocolate bread pudding... let's just say someone had to have sold their soul to the devil for that recipe.
Ps: I plan to return to Danton's and try the Debris Poboy to see if it compares to the one at Mothers in New Orleans. I consider myself part of the GCC now!
70th Birthday Dinner - Danton's Gift. We wanted to plan something very special for my Mother's 70th Birthday this year. She loves really great seafood which is hard to get where she lives. After hearing really great things from several people, I decided to take her to Danton's Gulf Coast Seafood Kitchen. We walked in about 7:00 pm and the place was very warm and inviting. The hostess greeted us with a lovely smile and sat us in a booth. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. Everything on the menu made our mouth water. We couldn't decide on one appetizer, so we tried several. We had the Jumbo Lump Crab Cake, which was all huge pieces of lump crab meat without a lot of filler. (Nowdays, it seems hard to find a crabcake that isn't really a cake.) It came with a delightful garlic remoulade sauce that was entirely homemade. We also tried the Crab Danton, which was amazing! We also ordered the shrimp cocktail which had serveral large shrimp that were perfectly chilled. For our entrees we had the Debris, which reminds me of wonderful southern comfort food. We also ordered the Oysters Kyle and the Baked Crab Balinese. We decided that both were winners, as we cleaned our plates! You know that we couldn't leave without dessert. We chose the Key Lime Pie, which you could taste the real key limes. My Mother chose the White Chocolate Bread Pudding, which she said reminder her of her Mother's receipe. When we left, she hugged me and said that it was the best birthday ever. She always talks about Danton's food, service, and atomosphere and how it made her feel special on her special day.
Best Seafood in Houston. The owners are very personable and always visit our table. The gumbo is awsome as are the best sides ever created - okra & tomatoes and house rice - the absolute best. Anything Crab is also good - the crab cakes, the crab dip, etc. My husband loves seafood and his comment after our first visit was "that is the best seafood I have ever had". We visit on special occasions like birthdays, anniversary, and when family visits from out of town or when we get a craving for seafood ( which is often).
STUFF ME with STUFFED SHRIMP. I grew up on the gulf coast eating shrimp all my life but stuffed shrimp has always been my favorite. Those old restaurants on the coast are long gone and many blown away in storms. I came to Houston and critically looked for my favorite stuffed shrimp. Well, I found it at DANTON'S seasoned perfectly just the way the old time restaurants prepared it. As for my wife, she loves stuffed flounder and their's is her favorite. We agree on something finally. We go back often to get our favorites. Thanks DANTON'S from Cypress.
Danton's. Danton's has the best Louisiana seafood here in Houston. I love the oysters on the half shell and all of the appetizers are delicious. You must try the bar-b-que shrimp, use your bread to sop up the sauce. Sauteed crab fingers also very good. You won't be disappointed!
Excellent seafood and service!.
Danton's Seafood is located on Montrose Blvd and is a stand out among the other many restaurants in the ares.
I have been going here to eat since it opened a couple of years ago. Back then the menu was sparse and has since grown as they have perfected dishes. I appreciate that because nothing makes the menu until it is of high enough quality to make the menu.
Now to the good stuff. The gumbo is to die for-nice darkroux with a smoky flavor filled sith seafood. The marinated brab fingers are prepared in a wonderful spicy lemon onion mixture that makes you want to lick the dish. The classic creole-cajun dishes are excellent. to top it off the bread pudding has a beautiful custard pudding consistency rather than dry . I recently tried the sweet potato creme brulee'. It was simply heavenly.
The atmosphere and music are remeniscent of a comfortable down home blues joint . The servers are friendly and the owner Kyle will make his way around the dining room to ensure that your dining experience is superb.
This is the place for simple good down home seafood in a friendly atmosphere. Comfort for the soul!
World's best Fried Oysters!. Danton's provides a supreme seafood experience. Their fried oysters are so light, really cloudlike - but with a perfect crunch. NEVER overcooked or tough. No other establishment (even the seemingly more popular inner loop rseafood estaurants) can match the quality or taste of Danton's. Likewise, their Oysters Danton - yum. When going light, just order the Crab Kyle salad. with dressing on side. Real lump crabmeat, not bits & shreds. This is a restaurant not to be missed.
Great place to "date the daughter"!.
Danton's is one of my favorite placed to spend quality time with my daughter who races in from college and seems to only have time now for her friends. Whenever I "dangle" an invitation to lunch at Danton's... she's all in. The comfortable yet sophisticated atmosphere is just the answer to the college student on a budget too.
The atmosphere is perfect and the food is outstanding! Since she joined their Gulf Coast email club, SHE now calls me to set a date to meet! Doesn't get much better than that. While the Gumbo is her favorite I've always preferred the fried oysters and seafood. Their Sunday Brunch is out of this world and I highly recommend it to everyone. Special times with special people! Yes, big props to the bread pudding. OMG, as my daughter would say. Insert that smiley face thing here too.
BY FAR THE BEST SEAFOOD IN HOUSTON.
This is a must try restaurant in Houston! We are regulars at Danton's and when we ask "where do you want to eat tonight?" The resounding answer is Danton's.
Why? Let's start with the jumbo lump crab appetizer -- simply the best in town, better than Brenners and Brennans. Danton's has a great menu, as well as a comprehensive specials menu which always include fresh catch prepared with savory toppings served in ample portions.
Ask the waiter for a combination that you tailor among the menu favorites --- softshell crab, fried shrimp, and filet with a side of red beans and rice is our favorite.
For non-fish dinners, the steaks are always good and I always order the cesar salad as part of our meal.
Ask questions about the wide variety of wines and you'll no doubt find a new bottle perfectly suited to your meal.
