Pleasantly surprised. The ladies bathroom is the only con I could come up with.

Been there 2 times and each time, the service was friendly and impeccable, the food was served promptly, hot and in the correct order.

We ordered appetizers, salads/soups and entrees for 6 people on Mother's Day, and there was no overlap of the courses by the kitchen or wait staff, something that really annoys me. Who wants the entree when they are only half way through a $6 salad? I wish we had ordered more appetizers because they were fantastic, but small (as appetizers should be but rarely are). We had the crab and avocado "dip" (more like guac) that was so flavorful, and the cream cheese jalapenos (5 pieces of 1/2 shell jalapeno stuffed and fried served w/ ranch) that were more common, but still good.

I had the soft shell crab offered only one way: " Fulton Street Soft Shell Crabs with tarragon butter sauce - Two soft shell crabs pan sautéed and served with sautéed vegetables" and dirty rice for $15.99. Outstanding! And I was a little worried because I've not had good sauteed soft shells before, only fried, which was not an option here. These were soft shells to dream of. Lightly dusted with flour and sauteed to a crispiness, they were nature's gift to me from a talented chef. Others had broiled and fried seafoods and not a single complaint was heard.

The setting is not terribly sophisticated, but who cares? The food is outstanding. The restaurant is clean and spacious, with a separate bar. It is in a free standing building that has housed many prior restaurants/meat shops etc. as I recall. This one is a keeper.

Hidden Jewel. This is a hidden jewel. My husband and I have dined there three times and each time found the staff to be friendly and knowledgable about the menu, and the food to be absolutely delicious. It is basic seafood - love the gumbo. The menu prices are quite reasonable. I think it you try it you really will come back as we did.
