Awesome Food, Awesome Service!.
I just have to rave about this place!!! When I have a craving for gyros, I skip the over-saltiness of Yia Yia Mary's or Niko Niko's and go straight to Zabak's. Even Fadi's can't compare to Zabak's. Especially when you add service to the equation.
The thing that I ALWAYS order is the falafel. It has a hint of spicy flair to it that gives it just the right kick and is easily the best falafel I have ever had. Their gyros are juicy and flavorful and served in just the perfect portion. If you get the plate, you can get two sides with it. The hummus is highly recommended and so is the baba ghanouj. If you prefer something more green, get the tabouli. I'm not a big tabouli fan, but I love the tabouli at Zabak's. And you know, of course, how I feel about the falafel.
If you are feeling like pizza, they have an awesome pizza that they load on with toppings and can add falafel or chicken on top as well. I don't normally divert from what I usually order, but I plan to go through the entire menu in the next months to come. After reading several other reviews, I've become curious about the many other items on the menu.
There are two things you don't want to forget on your visit to Zabak's. Their pickle bar is always fun to visit while waiting for the food to come out with tasty treats from chick peas to peppers. Also, don't forget dessert! Their baklava is insanely good! If you're not into the pistachio, no worries. There is also a walnut baklava that rivals the pistachio. And the only reason I know how great the dessert is is because of the awesome owners who have always been friendly and helpful.
The last visit I had there, the kitchen was slammed and we waited a while for our food, which was understandable. Unfortunately when the food came out, my falafel was cold. Of my many many visits there, this was the first disappointment I had experienced. I knew they were busy so I decided not to bother them with the woes of my food, but was pretty disheartened. The owner came over when she had a lapse in flow of business to check up on us. I was hesitant to complain, but she coaxed it out of me, saying, "Please tell me, I want to know." So I let her know that our falafels had come out cold.
She apologized profusely and brought out not only a fresh, steaming order of perfectly fried falafels, but also threw in a pistachio baklava accompanied with a walnut baklava. I was thoroughly impressed, once again, by their level of care and service. The family-owned and run eatery not only makes wonderful Mediterranean food, but also makes you feel like a real person and not just a number. I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys Mediterranean food and friendly service.
Best "Go To" lunch spot.
Zabak's is my favorite place to run in and grab lunch. I ALWAYS order the same thing, Falafel in a pita with tzatziki sauce and of course the hot sauce as well for a kick. I can not attest to any of the other food because I love the Falafel so much I refuse not to order it! I had one of the best brownies I have ever had there as well. It was so good I actually called and thanked them!
Next time you want a great, clean meal, stop by Zabak's. The staff is very friendly and there is always a nice crowd.
Amazing falafel!. This is a very comfortable cafe - style middle eastern restaurant. It is run by 2 brothers and a sister, and they are so friendly and welcoming! The menu is great, and I am constantly craving their falafel sandwich, the hot sauce on it is amazing (and I've never even liked hot sauce before!) definitely give it a try!
