Tips for Vintage Lounge

This place is a joke. The first time I went here it was actually tight. Then, I decided to go again when my friends told me to meet them up there. I parked my motorcycle on the sidewalk outside, and the owner, who is a little dweeb, actually walked out to me to tell me that they do not allow graphic designs on shirts - such as affliction shirts. I thought this was funny, considering I was wearing a black polo shirt that had a pattern on it. It was a nicer shirt than the one he was wearing, in fact. Meanwhile, there were dudes with texans t-shirts, flip-flops, and baseball caps getting in. I let him know he was being stupid for not letting me in for the last half hour (it was 1:30 am and I just wanted to say what's up to my friends). He then proceeded to send a goonie bouncer out my way. Needless to say, I told this bouncer to F - off. He tried to be buddy-buddy with me, but I continued to tell him to go the hell back to his spot at the door where he belonged. Bottom line, if you're a b!tch, you'll go to Vintage.

Citysearch Editorial Review. Vintage Lounge is initially misleading. The doorman, valet and backlit sign all scream “club” but the bar is more like a glorified house party. With two patios, four bars and plenty of space, there’s room for everything a night out should hold. The front patio puts off an exotic smoking den vibe thanks to the sunken lounge seating and subtle lighting whereas the house itself has a small, but packed, dance floor and the namesake antique bar. It becomes more crowded as the night continues, eventually spilling out onto the huge back patio where hordes of dudes in polos reenact Animal House.

Gross!. Apparently this is the new hot spot - and i dont mean that in a good way. Patient zero definately originated here. The last time i was there i saw multiple couples going at it in dimly lit corners. i don't go out to be an extra in someone elses porno flick. i will NEVER be back.

Decent local bar. The best way I can describe Vintage is like Europa but in River Oaks. Aside from the spacious patios, the inside is tight, which can be good or bad depending on the crowd. It has a quaint local feel to it most of the time, but it sometimes gets too crowded for comfort. If you are with a good group, have a "spot" or "homebase", then it is definitely a comfortable fun place to liquor up. The owner is gracious and usually running around working/socializing, which also makes the Vintage experience more personable. As far as doormen and racism, I wouldn't think they are racists, as I've always seen a mixed crowd there. I just think that they are just being sensible about who comes in and preserving their current clientele. How do you discriminate against Ed Hardy meatheads, Ambercrombie preps, Persian fops, Trendy zipperheads, Gringo yuppies, then who would go? They just have to do their best based on gut instinct. All in all, it has its well-deserved niche in the bar scene in Houston.
