Poor Customer Service Skills. I brought in a shirt for a re-do. When I came to pick it up with another cleaning order, the "manager" looked at the ticket and told me that I only had five shirts. When I told him that I brought in a sixth for a re-do, he continued to point to the receipt, staing that I only brought in five. One of the clerks actually remembered me bringing in the shirt and told the "manager" that he remembered it. After about 10 minutes of back and forth, I demanded that he find the shirt and made sure every other customer heard the details of what had happened. He went to the back and found it. At that point, I told him I'd never do business there again. And about a year later, I haven't, nor will I ever.
Decent cleaners. I'd been using the location at West Gray for three years, but moved six months ago and now use the new location on Fannin, which in my opinion is better. I'm happy with the services they've provided, but I've never had any of the problems mentioned in other reviews, so I can't honestly tell you how they handle problems. I also have not used their alteration services. However, I take tons of suits and shirts and I've never had even one problem in 3 1/2 years, so obviously they've been doing something right. My clothes are always clean and well-pressed, and they've apparently invested in new hangers and clips, so my clothes dont have the irritating stick pins anymore. I'm going to keep using their services, provided I don't have any of the issues other reviewers have had.
Bad Customer Service.
Sorry for the length, but here is an honest assessment of West Gray cleaners by a mostly satisfied customer. I have been using West Gray Cleaners for the past 3 years without any major incident. They seemed to do a pretty standard job when cleaning my work clothes and the prices are reasonable.
Recently, I had a pair of pants altered by their seamstress. They said the pants would be ready to pick up in 2 days. I came back 2 days later and they said they had forgotten to alter them. I'm a pretty easy going guy and people make mistakes. They said they would be ready the next day. I came back to pick them up 1 WEEK later (6 days after they said they would be ready). They still had not gotten around to fixing them.
At this point I have made 2 special trips to pick up the pants without getting them serviced. I told them that this was not acceptable and requested that they "make it right". The OWNER offered me a 10% discount. I somehow don't think getting $1 off a $10 alteration is acceptable in this instance. I told him as much and he became belligerent and told me to take my clothes and leave.
Unfortunately I had another cleaning order to pick up and he didn't even offer to mitigate the inconvenience. He basically held my outstanding order hostage and told me to pay in full for it and not come back to his store. How he still has business is beyond me.
I will NEVER use his services again. With customer service being an important part of any competitive business environment, I will take my clothes to someone that appreciates me as a customer. Be aware that if you ever have an issue with their service, you will not be treated well. The customer is always "wrong" in their store.
This place is a JOKE!!. This place has gone down....the service is horrible. Once they gave me someone elses clothes. i did not realize until i got home. The hours are a joke..if you plan to pickup clothes on a Saturday, beware they don't go by what's posted on the door. They will be quick to say they go by the time on the computer. Are you kidding me!! I asked them to treat a stain. They said no it would not come out. I took it home put some dish liquid and the stain came right out. They really don't care about the customer....good luck!!
I also was a customer since the establishement opened. TWO months ago when I went to pickup my clothes I checked them before I left the premises. Instead of receiving all my clothes back they had given me two pieces that belonged to someone else. They asked me to be patient and see if someone brought my clothes back.
After numerous visits and phone calls I find out today that they have NOT a clue where or who they gave my clothing to and really don' care. I am going to pursue legal action against them in small claims court. They were very rude and offered a "credit" of $20 ...which would imply that I might ever bring anything to them again. Let's see....value of clothes stolen $150....credit $20...
Past their prime. I went here for about two years. I didn't have any problems until lately, when they started happening often. They lost about 5 pieces of my clothes for a week. They gave me a dress shirt back with a new chemical stain added. When I gave it back to them to re-clean, they 1) lost it, then 2) gave it back to me days later with the SAME STAIN. What's more, my clothes never actually come back clean. I even pre-treat my own spots on my dress shirts with spray-and-wash when I take them off, and the're always still there when I pick them up. I usually have to re-press my collars. I've had to deal with them to fix these sort of problems on several occasions now, and yes they always try to fix it like they should, but never once have I ever heard them say "sorry" or offer anything other than that look of contempt that tells me they don't really give a cr@p anymore. I think they have a lot of regular customers since they *used* to be a great shop, and now they're coasting... big time. If they keep this up, they'll coast right to a dead stop.
Terrible Cleaners!. NEVER use this dry cleaner. I brought my expensive leather jacket in to be cleaned. They told me it would be done by Thursday and printed me a ticket indicating it would be completed on Thursday. On Friday morning, it was not done and they wouldn't return the garment to me when I tried to cancel the order. The man told me I was wrong, screamed at me and insulted me. When I went back to get my jacket the next week, he denied ever having spoken to me. This place has TERRIBLE customer service. They are friendly until they make a mistake and then they are not just unaccommodating but downright rude. Additionally, they knocked a button off a skirt and left it hanging by a thread when I came to pick it up. I discovered it when I got home and had to sew it back on. DO NOT GO HERE!
Great Service and Price. I've been going here ever since they opened and have no problems thus far. The service is fast and speedy. The employees there are very nice as well. The drive thru is a great convenience since I don't have to get out of my car. And you can't beat the price.
Big mistake. I took my clothes there for the first and only time and they were convenient so I stopped in without doing any research. Now I realize that they have terrible reviews and I was an idiot for visiting them. They returned a cashmere top of mine with a hole in it that left it unwearable and apparently have ruined many many peoples clothes. Do research! This place is the worst I have ever visited and I will never go back.
Worst Dry Cleaner in Houston. AWFUL! Same story as the others..I brought a very expensive shirt in, and they ruined it with stains (bleach, I assume) all over the front of it. Accused me of the stain, and were not accommodating at all. If you value your clothes, NEVER, EVER go here!
