Best Wine Bar in all of Harris County. I come in there all the time, especially when Gretchen is working there, simply because I rely on her to show me what's new and she has an excellent idea of what I like (mostly cabs, merlots), and I give her a price range of what I'm looking for and she's never missed the mark. I also love the live music in there on the weekends. Gretchen, Janitha, Robyn, and Jenny make this the #1 Wine bar/shop in all of Harris County. The prices are unbeatable, and that's due to Gretchen and JenneMarie, the owner, who bend over backwards to ensure that the selection they have is top notch and not what you'd find in any old bar in town. Champions is blessed to have this place and these ladies go above and beyond anyone's expectations. DO NOT CHANGE A THING...IT'S FINALLY DONE RIGHT!!!
Corked wine-merchant. Ventured into the establishment recently to check it out...dressed down as I often do for a reason. I figure if you don't "look the part" and still get treated well...you are dealing with some good folks. The staff member, I believe her name was Gretchen, was borderline snobbish and obviously pre-judged this customer. Lets just say she didn't ask the right questions to a first time customer and seemed to make assumptions of me. I will say the place (outside this particular staff member) was very nice with overstuffed chairs, it had a comfortable warm feel...good spot to enjoy a beverage. I did go ahead and have a glass of wine and enjoy my visit. It's too bad "Gretch" didn't start out on the right foot with me...I wanted to drop a few "C-notes" on some fine wines not available at most liquor stores (even Spec's).
Editorial Review. Cellar 17 is an upscale wine boutique and wine bar, in Houston, offering over 300 labels on its wine list from around the world.
Elegant Wine Bar for "Outer Loopers.". Forget what you think you're going to find behind the utilitarian reflective store front glass across the parking lot from a Mister Car Wash. You're in for a treat if you'll just convince yourself to just open the door and walk inside. An expansive space with a small bar personality, you'll find a friendly staff and an interesting selection that includes small production, highly allocated boutique wines alongside budget friendly wines with familiar labels. The space is huge, but feels comfortable with comfy couches and arm chairs grouped together for casual conversation. They have a limited menu as the kitchen space is tiny, but they allow food from outside to be brought in, so grab a bite from any of the neighboring restaurants, choose a bottle of wine from their inventory and enjoy date night on a budget. Bonus #1: There is a private room available for parties. Bonus #2: The owners also own the cigar shop next door so guys can grab a glass of wine and go have a smoke and catch the game on the big screen.
Great Wines! Reasonable prices! Spacious, Elegant and Comfortable Seating, and more!. You have to try this place. The wide range of reasonbly priced wines available at Cellar 17, many of which can not be found at large liquor or grocery chains, is a great reason to visit the shop, but there are other great attractions. The Wine bar is spacious and elegant, and filled with comfortable seating. Cellar 17 offers a selection of treats to compliment, and be complimented by, the wines. But Cellar 17 goes an extra step by inviting patrons to bring their own food to enjoy with their wine. Tables are plentiful, and a private room is availalble. All of this is possible both at lunch and at dinner, and even on Sundays! The wine bar is a little difficult to see from the street - FM 1960 just East of Cutten Rd. - but it is worth the search.
Not a fan for "Wine Bar". With carpet floors, low ceilings, and wide open space, this is more of a retail shop and not a wine bar. Great selection though.
