Located in the heart of the museum district, the MFAH is Houston's premier art institution, featuring a core collection, a movie theater, a book store, and exciting rotating exhibits that have featured the likes of Van Gogh, King Tut, the Impressionist works from the Tate museum, Picasso, and much more. Recently, they introduced a Food truck program Monday-Friday, whereby patrons can purchase from the food truck across the street, then take their receipt for free admission to the museum afterwards.
Houstonians have much to proud of when they visit this museum. Outstanding photography collection, Asian, African Art + more. My fav is to work through the Turrell tunnel between the buildings.
Great.
I was really impressed with their exhibits. A wide variety that will for sure entertain anyone at any age and interest. One building took us ~4hours. We didn't even have time to check out the other building. Definitely worth checking out.
Thursdays are free!!
Disappointed in Tutankhamun!!.
I'm a member of the museum and I recently attended the Tutankhamun exhibit. I was very disappointed in this exhibit and the advertising was misleading. I really can't communicate how poorly executed this exhibit was. The MFAH was taken for a ride by the company that put this together and I think that the museum passed that on to the people of Houston.
I wasn't expecting to see everything that I saw at an exhibit I'd attended when I was a kid but I did expect a much more impressive display than what was there.
Editorial Review. Provides fun for the whole family with an art gallery, workshops and musical performances.
my feelings on the art museum. I would go more often if it were less expensive and easier to find free parking.
Cool place... This place rocks.. they have new exhibits all the time.. It is only free general admission on Thursday nights. The special exhibits such as the Impressionism art going on now is not free.
Art near the bayou. A wonderful place for the whole family. Fine collection of European and Impressionist art, continuing change of exhibits, films, and the best art from all over the world. Plus Cafe Express is a great place to have lunch or a snack.
Best movies in town!!!.
Great variety of films, great value for film buffs.
Exensice and varied art exhibits.
