Tips for You Lucky Dog

Almost as good as being at home. I recently moved to Houston and needed to find a place to kennel my dog while I was out of town for a business trip and this place is close to my apartment so I thought I'd check it out. The building doesn't really stand out from the street, and I almost didn't stop by but I'm SO GLAD I did. When I stopped in (without an appointment and at 5:30 when people were picking up their dogs) the receptionist was super friendly. She greeted me, got some info about me and my dog and offered to give me a tour and tell me about the facility. All of the areas were very clean and well kept, and the dogs all seemed very happy.

They require a temprament test before dogs can be boarded overnight or attend doggie day care, which provides some peace of mind that your dog will be safe while in their care. Our dog is used to being the center of attention so I was nervous about how he would do on his test, but the wonderful staff reassured me and took the time to get to know us and how we typically interact with our dog before conducting his test. They require about 5 hours to interact with your dog during the temprament test, and the staff offered to call me as soon as he was finished, which I thought was very nice. Our dog passed so I elected to let him stay for the rest of the day to play with the other doggies. HE LOVED IT!!

I was initially only planning on boarding our dog there, but he liked play time so much that I think we will allow him to go a few times a month. We couldn't be happier with our choice!

It's a dog's life. You Lucky Dog is a top notch doggie day care. The staff understands what dogs need to be happy not just owners. I was really happy when they added the outdoor area so the dogs could go outside and really run around. I feel comfortable leaving my dog there for the day or for the week if I have to go out of town.

You Lucky Dog Rocks!. The best thing about the staff at You Lucky Dog is that they understand dogs. They know what a dog needs to be happy and are concerned with the safety and well-being of the dogs in their care. They temperament test every dog that comes to daycare, and if a dog is aggressive, it is not allowed in with the other dogs. This makes me feel comfortable in knowing that my dog will be safe and have a good time in daycare, which is my primary concern.

A big THANK YOU to You Lucky Dog for setting the standard for doggie day care!!!

Thank God for You Lucky Dog!. You Lucky Dog is a Godsend for people who cherish their pets. They take great care of my "kids" and I know that they are always safe. I stopped going to dog parks a while ago when it became clear that not everyone understands that "little Cujo" is NOT a little sweatheart. The Dogma only accepts dogs into daycare that play well with others - and that makes my dog safe!

THANK GOD FOR "YOU LUCKY DOG!"

Bad daycare!. The staff at this doggie daycare was very unprofessional and treated my dog like poop. They put on a show to get your money by pretending to actually care about your animal and then shove them in a cage while they watch soap operas all day. Don't sit, stay or walk, run away from this facility

To Mompenguin: We love dogs and we would never treat a dog bad or shove a dog. We don't refer to our enclosures as cages, they are large, cozy, doggie dens. They are six feet tall, and open on top. The babies nap, eat and sleep in them and they love them. The flatscreen TV is for the pooches; we don't play soap operas but I'm sure the pooches wouldn't mind it. Please tell me who you are and what happened that made you write this review. Thank you. Charlotte - Owner, You Lucky Dog

Only for "elite" dogs, which probably isn't your dog!. I have a sweet and loving dog and was hoping to find a doggie day care close by to take her to and I thought this was it! Went by for a tour and signed my dog up for a temperament test.

When I went to pick her up after the temperament test they informed me, after I had paid of course, that my dog did not pass. When they went to get my dog I noticed they were keeping her in a small room by herself. As soon as I brought her outside she rushed to the grass to go to the bathroom as if she had not gone all day. Then when we got home she drank water like she had not had any all day! My dog goes to dog parks all the time, has gone on play dates with other dogs, and has even been kenneled and there has never been an issue so you can image my shock when they informed me of her aggression.

I understand that this is a very "select" doggie day care but I would have preferred they called me to pick her up once she was considered "unacceptable" for their care instead of keeping her confined all day like some kind of "evil" animal. My dog should have been treated with respect even if she did not meet the “high standards” of this facility.

Best Trainer! Great day care!. My dog had some agression issues that prevented us from enjoying the dog park. The "DogMa" got him in check in less than a week! They are reasonably priced and do a great job. If I ever feel like he's getting out of check I just take him to day care and he remember how he's supposed to behave. He even loved the training. After a few days of daycare he would run to the car ready to go again!
