Citysearch Editorial Review. In the heart of the action along Washington, Pearl Bar remains popular but unpretentious. On a nice night, a wide range of rowdy partiers flock to the patio. An outdoor bar, loads of seating, the old college throwbacks, beer pong and flip cup, and even a taco cart make this a prime place to kick back and take it easy under the stars. Inside, the DJ spins hip hop and a more mature crowd packs in alongside the bar. Some dance, some don’t, but everyone looks to be having a good time.

DON"T GO HERE. I went there on 9/26/09 with a group of 6. My brother and I went to the bar to order drinks and the bartender got mad because we were ordering a lot of drinks. We only ordered 1 drink for each person and a round of shots. The bartender and my brother starting arguing about the number of drinks and it got to the point were he told my brother to leave and knocked 2 drinks out from his hands. I pulled my brother away and told him to leave to keep this from getting worse and before he left my brother knocked over the rest of the drinks. As we were walking out the bartender jumped the bar and was going after my brother. I got in the way to break it up and calm things down so it wouldn’t get out of hand, only to be pushed out of the bar and arrested for assault! I had to spend a whole day in jail for no reason and I had never been to jail before in my life. The management is complete BS and I'm currently looking to press charges on the bar and bartender.

GREAT BAR. The bar is a great place. There are a lot of hot looking women. The alcohol is not too expensive and the people attending are all good looking people between 21 and early 30s. This is a good place to go during the week and even during the weekend. The patio outside is great and there is plenty of room.

The HPD officers roaming the area will stop anyone and accuse them of DWI since they know that is an area for nothing but bars. I dont understand why the city thinks ticketing people is the way to make money when they could make way more by taxing bars if thats what they really want.

ethnic unfriendly bar. I wish there was a way to put a negative star rating. We were just asked to leave Pearl Bar because we got upset when another patron said "f#@!$ing go back to Asia you B!@#$" to one of us. When we told the representative at the door that a person said that to us, he asked us if we were drunk and how old we are and told us we were acting like we were in middle school. I told him that regardless of whether or not we were drunk or how old we were, that racism should not be condoned in any place. He asked us to leave because we were "overreacting" to the offensive remarks. All he had to say was "I'm sorry someone said that to you. We don't condone that type of mentality" instead of trying to accuse of being drunk, immature and overreacting! The crazy part is that guy was a Hispanic guy!! We will not go back and I encourange anyone of ethnic decent to avoid this place. Management clearly condones racism!!!!

Great place to stop and have a brew.... I don't live in the neighborhood, but pass by there all the time, so we finally stopped in for a beer the other night. It was early in the eveing, before any crowds, so I can't comment on that. (We don't really go out late unless it's downtown someplace we can walk/cab/rail to.) But I'll for sure be stopping back at the Pearl when I'm in the neighborhood. They have a small parking lot, which is cool for us that frequent bars at off-hours, so we parked right by the front door. They had some good beers on tap, and there was nothing pretentious about the place, so we felt right at home. Bartender was really nice, and despite the cool facade of the old building, the inside was all nice and new and clean. They also apparently have a huge deck out back, which we were too lazy to go check out. They also had Pearl beer...which I must admit, I like. Cool place...stop in for a beer!!

Great Bar!. I have been three seperate occasions and have enjoyed the music and mix of people. I like the fact that it is a bar and does not try to be a nightclub.

Waiting for the crowd to die down. This bar used to be the best in Houston...and everyone found that out and now goes. The crowd is interesting- like half of preppy midtown is there and the other part is the old trendy hipster scene. I'm wondering who will win. I hope it's the latter.. I miss it!!
