One of our favorites!. Taverna is fantastic. Excellent wines at near retail prices (no 4x restaurant markups here). The food is unique, and eclectic, but very reasonably priced. The atmosphere is elegant and comfortable. It is one of those places you might expect a $200 tab, but two will dine and drink for about half of that. Opt for a bottle of wine...if you don't finish it, they will cork it for you to take home. Now, if there a knock, the waitstaff is not as ?refined? as the menu and atmosphere suggest. If this is important to you, stick to Fleming?s, Perry?s or Kirby?s and the $200 tab. For us, we?ll take the great food and spirits and pocket the difference for a slightly less knowledgeable and efficient waitstaff. Taverna is well worth the drive to Conroe!

Astounding establishment none like it in Conroe!!!****. Be prepared to be astounded! Energetic staff with exquisite wine list and versatile menu prepared with an artistic flare. Not your typical wine list at all. They have made the decision easy for you by listing the wine by its vintage and characteristics. It is unlike most restaurants where you feel intimidated by the list and if you need help the wait staff or owner is there to help your wine selection. Pinot Gris, Chenin Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chianti, and so on goes the list. Definitely a place for the palate to be awakened and your palate will appreciate the remarkable tastes from the soup, salads, appetizer, entree, and then to finish with an exquisite desert to eat there or take home for later. I recommend going on an empty stomach and trying everything. Nothing needs to be improved. The prices are just right and make having a dinner none like any other to be compared to. The ambiance is relaxing, romantic and eclectic. We will be regulars for sure. Need I say more, this is a highly recommended establishment *5 Star treatment here*

DO NOT RECOMMEND!...........Waited for food, small salad. unless you want to wait 10 minutes for your glass of wine, 30 minutes for a meal and pay too much.

We ate there last night, and I ordered a salad after asking the waiter if it was a good-sized salad; he told me absolutely. It turned out to be the size of a very small dinner salad, and was so scimpy on the candied walnuts, I literally could count them: 4 total. I paid $90 for a meal of this soup and tiny salad, chicken for my spouse, wine, and left hungry as heck, and disappointed in the time it took to get served. We ate on the veranda where they advertise a pond,trees. We saw trees, no ponds....

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!!!!!!

great!!. PERSONALLY, I DON'T CARE FOR SMOKED MEATS, BUT I TRIED A PIECE OF MY HUSBAND'S SMOKED PRIME RIB AND IT IS TO DIE FOR!!! THAT IS WHAT I WILL GET NEXT TIME, REALLY, REALLY GOOD!! THE NEW CHEF IS AWESOME, WONDERFUL MENU AND EVERYTHING I HAVE HAD IS GREAT. NICE, FRIENDLY ATMOSPHERE, GREAT OWNERS, BEAUTIFUL RESTAURANT, WHAT MORE COULD YOU WANT?

Excellent food, beautiful location, great wine, too!. Taverna Winery & Restaurant has everything you're looking for!

The food is superb. I've eaten there many times and I highly recommend the Bouillabase, Sauteed Shrimp Pasta, Beef Carpaccio, Charcuterie Platter, Cheese Plate, Bread Pudding, Taverna Salad... The list obviously goes on and on! I honestly have never had a bad meal!

The menu has something for everyone, from classics like Coq Au Vin to the more unique items like Shrimp with Chocolate and Chili!

The wine list is extensive and the really wonderful thing is you won't break your bank! I've seen bottles of wine ranging from $13 to $90.... the options are endless!

And the view is quite spectacular. The restaurant overlooks a lush green field, with a pond and woods behind. The patio is THE place to sit and enjoy a cold beer or glass of Pinot Grigio on a hot Texas day!

I can't say enough good things about Taverna but I strongly suggest that you go there and see for yourself! I know I'll be back!

Has no competition!!. As a long time Conroe resident, we are all excited about Conroe's biggest and best concept since the lake. The long driveway is pleasant with forest landscape open grassy fields. From their pleasant setting to their top quality cuisine and their well stocked gift shop, this place has everything it takes to provide an evening of true fine dining.

We drove in and were promptly greeted by the friendly valet staff who made sure that no door was left unopened for us. As we were ushered in the faces of patrons and employees as were adorned with smiles.

Dennis, Shay, Jamie, James and chef Richard Knight are the people behind this concept that the Conroe and Woodlands area people have been lacking. The service was friendly, knowledgeable and not overbearing. We felt welcomed our entire stay, which was over four hours. We enjoyed a fantastic selection that our waitress selected for us, as we never even looked at the menu. Just trust me on this one, try the Lamb. Wow!!

The gift shop had everything anyone can needf or the small collectors, to casual drinkers or wine experts.

( If you want to stock your cellar, this is the place to do it.) Their selcetion is very unique and all hand picked selections that can not be found just anywhere. I bought six bottles after my delicious meal and recieved a nice discount for my wine purchases. Oh, every bottle Shay recommended has been fantastic. So, thank you, Shay.

This place is destined for greatness and will eventually become a Conroe landmark. For a top quality dining experience for prices that are surplisingly inexpensive, this place is solid gold. You have to experience this place. To impress your wife, Business exec, a first date or just to have a great time try Taverna Winery & Restaurant

The Taverna Winery & Restaurant in Conroe is part wine bar, part restaurant and part retail shop. More than 100 wines are available, with most ranging from $12 to $35 per bottle. Diners share such dishes as marinated olives, calamari, cured meat plates, pate and fruit. The main kitchen serves a unique blend of dishes from Texas and Europe. Favorites include Spanish meatballs, cedar-planked salmon, tenderloin, roasted goose and bacon-wrapped trout. For lunch, lighter fare includes fresh salads, sandwiches and gourmet burgers.
