ownership.
Me and the owners of Uptown tapas had a verbal agreement to have lavish thursdays
unf. Last night the Manager(A racist)informed me that he put a stop to it.
He called me the "N"Word and Told me all I brought in were "N" Customers.
I am filing various complaints
sorry for the trouble
God bless
Semi OK.. I've only been here and Cafe Layal. The hookah's the same at both places. Only the finger food is good so stick to the late night menu. It gets crazy busy on weekend. Drinks are expensive but strong. Don't go before 10pm unless you're in high school .... after hours get pretty packed. MONDAYS are JAMMED pack and that's when celebrities come like Rockets players. VIP is worthless and you have to order bottles.
Relaxing atmosphere. I've only been to Uptown a few times, but it's been nice every time I've been there. Yes, you do have to pay for parking, but I've learned that if you park next door at Sam's Boat, they won't say anything to you. If you're looking for a place to just go and chill by yourself, then Wednesday through Thursday (before 8:30) is a good time to go. They have a DJ and free wi-fi. You can choose from two indoor rooms to lounge in, or go out on the patio. If you're looking for more of a busy scene, then after 9:00 during the week is usually the time to go. Monday evening was pretty awesome, because they brought in a bunch of local rap artists who played their music and asked for people's opinions. After they finished that, it was more like a club where the people could dance and just have a good time. I haven't tried the food or the hooka, but my friends have enjoyed both. As far as the minors... They go out onto the patio, and the bartenders and waitstaff look out for each other there. I didn't notice any underage drinking while I was there. I'd go back, and I've invited my friends to go with me.
Good Hang Out Spot. Good Hookah! Good Hang Out Spot! Good Music! Bring Friends! Casual Attire! Only Bad Thing Is You Have To Pay For Parking!
good place to go if your underage and want to drink. i have to admit i was excited to go to this place because i love to smoke hookah. i went there with 3 of my friends and regardless of whether you valet or park yourself you have to pay. as soon as we walked in the place was totally empty inside except for the dj headbanging to himself. we figured since we wouldn't get our $5 back we would at least smoke some hookah and get a bite to eat. BIG mistake. as soon as we walked onto the patio we were surrounded by annoying high schoolers who were obviously drinking. after finally getting the waitresses attention we ordered some food. the sushi didn't even have fish in it, the beef was black it was so burned and the tortillas tasted like cardboard. as soon as we unwillingly finished our meal we headed over to marys. we will never go back.
Where to meet the pep squad after gym class..
This was my first time trying hookah and I was pretty excited, but my visions of pillow-clad lounging were soon dashed by this taccy, half-baked joint. From the moment we arrived, my girlfriend and I knew we were setting ourselves up for a fall. The place doesn't look too bad as you drive up, although I'm confused as to why they would surround the patio with plastic boarding suitable on a construction site. Whether you self-park or valet "you're going to pay $5" we were told - awesome. No sooner had we entered the terminally empty 'dance room' had we turned right around to head back for our car. After a short debate, we decided to stay - given that Mary's (a better hookah bar) was jam-packed. Having sat outside and ordered from our 'I wish I was someplace else' waitress, it became quickly apparent that Uptown serviced Houston's highschool posse after mall hours. Feeling old at 25 isn't nice; nor is listening to whiney teens sing Happy Birthday to each other. In terms of the hookah, I have no means to compare, but it was okay. As for the food, we were disappointed to say the least. Overpriced, unauthentic and desperate. For a $10 sushi dish we recieved 6 pieces that were ready to fall apart at mere glance.
If you're over 12 - don't go here. And definitely don't take a date here.
If you're under 12 - choose the bubblegum hookah, you'll love it.
High school kids.
It looked nice on the outside, and then you find out they charge for parking! You walk in and you get overwhelmed with an empty cheesy over-the-top dance bar. You walk through to a nice set up patio, so you think it's going to be alright. But you look around and realize that it's full of high school kids, no really. Overpriced drinks, overpriced and LOUSY sushi, and granted, they give you 3 coals on hookah, but it just wasn't clean.
If you want to go to a place where it's a bunch of high school kids that are loud and obnoxious with overpriced food, hookah, and drinks, this is the place to go.
It's well worth the time go across the street to Mary'z where they actually have Lebanese food and hookah instead of these cringe-worthy finger foods.
Loved the Hookah. Let me start off by saying OMG!!! I loved this place?.. The atmosphere of the lounge was perfect if you want to relax and be claim with there excellent hookah you can sit out on the patio which is beautiful especially at night?. If your looking to dance and be in a club type setting there?s a dance floor and loud music are if you want to just sit inside and enjoy a few drinks there?s a area for you as well?. The drinks were inexpensive the club decor was gorgeous and as a first time hookah user I loved it (try it with a few shots of patron in your water). Uptown Tapas i?ll be seeing you again this weekend?.
enjoy your night and stay away of this place! pice of s*t. very laud music with weird combinations of style , overprice the drinks and hookha when you recive the tab , poor service , this place is a cheap immitation , a joke, a circus when you recive and want to pay your tab! wanna have fun ,stay away of this place !!
Good Music. The past 5 times I have been there that place has been bumping with loud music and everyone seemed to be having a good time. The service was acceptable and the food was decent. The hookah was a lot better then the hookah joint next door (Marys) and overall i really enjoyed myself.
