“thouroughly enjoy the tasting room and firmly believe that not only the decor, but the employees make this place great.”
“try it out for yourself people, and i asssure you that it'll rank at the very bottom of your list of favorite wine bars.”
“first went there for a tasting with some friends a few weeks back and it was very educational and inexpensive and the food was great.”
“Obviously a great selection of wines and a suprisingley good cheese plate.”
“Tasting Room is great wine place”
“Thus, I am a regular there and will go back frequently as do many of my friends whom I've recommended the place to.”
“The staff is very knowledgeable of their wines.”
“the bartender told me that the prices were competetive with spec's, but as i was looking around i recognized a few bottles that i've seen at spec's and the tasting room was far more expensive (even before the $8 corkage fee).”

Smaller and cozier than the other Tasting Rooms, it's still a great place to come by for some wine & conversation with a friend.
Tasty and Inexpensive Lunch. I think the food here is really good and especially for the price. Plus, with any entre' you can get a fairly large bowl of soup for a dollar. They always have 2 soups de jour, and because each is just a dollar I always try both. They have a small menu, but that's probably what enables them to keep the cost of the food low. The burger is good, the pizzas are good, and the sandwiches are good. It's worth checking out for lunch!
Worst experience, terrible attutide. Terrible experience!!! I planned to have a party there for my wife's birthday, so I called and tried to make reservation like a week in advance. I first called the uptown location, they don't take reservation, so I called these River Oaks location. The lady was nice and marked down the reservation for me since a had a fairly large party, she explained to me she will reserve a separate area for me, so I was all set. When I got to the bar that night, I talked to the bar-tender saying I called in and reserved the table. I definitely saw the area the lady described to me while I made the reservation. The bar-tender told me they DON'T take reservation. I was like....ok.... so I asked her if she has a table for me. Then she gave me all kind of attutide, saying well, it is pretty much open sitting, you can sit wherever you want. Obvoiusly I didn't see any single table available. I left right away, I mean I don't need to take those attutide, if you don't take reservation, then tell me on the phone. Don't screw me up. This is DEFINITELY a WORST wine bar I have ever been. DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMANDED!!!
Terrible Service. While the food was good, the service was quite terrible. You have to order all food and wine from the bartender inside, and although there are "servers" that carry the food out, you are otherwise on your own. We ordered appetizers with our wine, and after 40 minutes, they brought out the wrong order. No one brought us plates, silverware or napkins. When we mentioned to the server that we were given the wrong order we were told that we had to go inside and speak with the bartender. They didn't give us an ice bucket with the white wine, and when we asked for one we were again told to check with the bartender. Our appetizers finally came out almost an hour later. I'm not typically high maintenance, but when you're paying a corking fee with every bottle of already-marked-up wine, i expect a little better. I will definitely not go back.
Hate this place!!!. I've been to Corkscrew a couple of times and met the owner once, he's pretty arrogant. The service was horrible. Last time I was there the bartender spent more time fixing her hair and putting on make up than she did serving people. They did have live music once that was okay, but someone brought their baby into the bar (it was after 10:00) and it really ruined it to hear the baby cry. The wine selection is okay, but a little more pricey than what I've seen at other places. I'm not a fan and probably won't go back.
Best Overall Setting. In my experiences as a wine taster, I don't think I will find a better atmosphere to get me in a greater mood. The staff is very knowledgeable of their wines. Their pizza is a great addition to their cheese plates. Oh, and THE BAND they have on Friday nights are untouchable! Imagine having world-class musicians playing exclusively for you where you can still have perfect conversation with your friends. I think they said that they were a nuevo flamenco group ( totally awesome!!). Parking was kind of rough, but that's Houston for you.
The Tastless Room. The staff was there. The selection is lacking. Not good for groups. Nothing really popped out! I would rather sit through a Tax Audit!
Nice place.
This was a pleasant suprise. Quite pleasant and comfortable. Obviously a great selection of wines and a suprisingley good cheese plate. Overall we had a nice time (Happy Hour with the girls).
Will be back for sure!
Good wine stop. The staff is fun and friendly, the prices are reasonable, but the selection is lacking. I recommend this as a stop-in when you are in the area, but don't drive across town for it.
Amazing would be a definite understatement...
I LOVE IT!
Being in the industry, I've heard so much about the place but had never been.. I met with a few friends last night and it was OUTSTANDING! I'm still fairly new with the drinks, however they did a spectacular job picking out just what I liked. I had the pleasure of meeting a few of the girls personally- very nice, and beautiful young ladies. I'm looking forward to coming again soon!
Great place to go for a birthday!. I just recently took a very good friend of mine and a couple our closed friends out to the tasting room for her birthday. It was great! The staff was great. They helps us find the best wines for our evening. The only bad part is that they just are opening later. I recommend this place to anyone!
