“If you are in the mood for good upscale mex and groovy ambience, then Cyclone's midtown is the place for you.”
“also had the pleasure of sampling their tres leches cake, which usually consists several types of milk consistancies poured into a white cake with a refined sugar and whipped cream icing-very rich!”
“Since I normally do not dine on the main floor, I can not rate the servers, but I recommend anyone wanting superb service to dine at the bar or just stop in for a drink.”
“Judging from less busy nights, the food is good but not the best Tex Mex in Houston.”
“Pricewise, I couldnt tell you because I was not allowed to look at the menu, but the girls all said we did goood for the appetizers and dessert that was ordered, and believe me we are not of the Hilton clan that would waste money, but have enjoyed inexpen”
“This is a great place for a business or social lunch.”
“Good tempo to service, nice waiter John attentive.”
“The food for the price isn't bad.”
“WEll to make a long story short, it was already 11pm so we headed across the street to Buffalo Wild Wings where the service was excellent.”
Best Suizas Enchiladas in Houston. Hands down the best Suizas Enchiladas in Houston!
Stay away! Bad Bad Service. Rude GM.
The short version:
CAUTION: HORRIBLE SERVICE AWAITS! (and this is coming from a server, so you know it must be pretty bad).
BEWARE of the GM "Gabriel Moya." He was completely inappropriate, had a horrible attitude, and should not be the general manager of a restaurant. Give him something smaller to tackle, please.
If I could give a negative star I would.
Not going back.
The long version:
We didn't even get a chance to order any food because we were basically ignored the whole time we were there. After our server gave us our drinks - I got a Negro Modelo and my brother got a margarita which he didn't like and sent back because it was way too sweet and tasted like syrup (maybe the bartenders need a few more lessons) - the GM came over to ask my brother why he was sending it back.
The GM "Gabriel Moya" handled this all wrong, he basically told us that we are wrong for not like a 10 dollar margarita (which he repeated the price to us about 4 times) and said that he didn't understand what too sweet and syrup like meant.. (It means it's too sweet). He then went on a rant with a horrible attitude about how he doesn't understand why my brother doesn't like the drink and blah blah blah.
Money is not the issue here Gabriel. So stop telling us how much the darn drink cost and just tell the bartender to make a better drink. We decided to get a beer instead of the bad margarita and he just flipped! He picked up the drink with so much attitude that he almost knocked it over. The beer was never brought out. I had to go to the bar myself to order it after sitting at the table for about 15 or 20 minutes (not being dramatic on the time). After that, we wanted to order but the server never came back.
I then ask a busser (since the server was nowhere to be found...we were one of 4 tables on the patio) for the GM to come to the table after not being seen and he still had a lot of attitude with us.
If myself or my manager at my restaurant EVER showed as much attitude and horrible customer service as Gabriel did, we'd be in Human Resources the next morning and would get written up as well. Now, I live in LA but am from GA...so I'm not going to make this a southern hospitality issue...but SHEESH can somebody please come in and train these people on costumer service.
I will not be coming back while Gabriel Moya is still the leader of the pack.
I still can't believe that he is a GM.
Good luck. You've been warned.
* Currently trying to get in touch with someone in their corporate office over the GM to let them know that they have a monster working for them lol.
SUCKS. The a/c was dripping on customers waiting to be seated by hostess. They must have a new mgr (female) and she wasnt doing much other than standing in the corner looking as if she was miserable or mad. Not a great experience. There are too many great places to eat and be served in Houston to waste $ on substandard food/service.
DADA.DA.DADA Im Lovin it!!!. As I have walked into your establishment many times before I was greated with some of the greatest enthusiasm I have ever had!!! The Manager is just top notch I forget his name hes tall and has colored eyes. He greats you with a hello and how are you!! The staff there is great every one from the front to bar and servers!! I have had several servers and have had nothing but great service!!! The food is great and the drinks what can I say but MARGARITA TIME!!!!! You guys have a patron for life!!! Thanks see you soon!!!
Always Fun in Midtown.
The French doors illuminate what would be a dark, oblong bar. We've watched games at the bar there too. The margs are pretty potent, and they play club/dance music in the evenings. The patio is always packed on the weekends.
My friends and I always order the Jumbo Lump Crabmeat Nachos made with organic blue corn tortilla chips topped with refried black beans, a blend of Mexican cheeses, jumbo lump crabmeat, and roasted yellow corn. They are served with pico de gallo, sour cream, guacamole and jalapeños.
If you are really hungry, order the rich Lobster Enchiladas made with Mexican white cheese topped with chardonnay cream sauce and roasted pine nuts. They are served with generous portions of cilantro rice and refried black beans.
They also are big Halloween fans and have costume contests.
Massive Margaritas trick patrons into feasting on Mediocre M.
Bizarrely enough, when my first visit to Cyclone’s was when I was living in New York City. Deprived of Mexican restaurants, the concept of an overpriced see-and-be-seen margarita bar that happened to serve food sat just fine with me. Only after living in Houston for a couple of years and tasting the cheap, delicious fare available at the superfluous Mexican restaurants that dot the City do I realize just how much I over-paid at Cyclone’s.
In the height of midtown’s hippness, a weekend evening at Cyclone’s felt like more of lounge than a Mexican restaurant. Freshly out of work or just about to hit the club patrons packed into the bar for $15 margaritas the size of a basketball while crowds waited about the sidewalks for a table. Audaciously loud, overpriced and refusing to take reservations somehow made the place particularly popular for large groups. Presents and balloons filled any empty floor space. It was baffling. As a result, I have been dragged back to Cyclone’s numerous times for various events.
It is hard to complain about eating at Cyclone’s. Nothing is bad. Everything is simply mediocre – the service and the ambiance as much as the enchiladas. If you find yourself forced to eat there I suggest splurging on the massive margarita while you wait in order to make the entire experience palatable.
THINK TWICE!! Great location,T-E-R-R-I-B-L-E service. Need improvement on customer service and educated service manager. NOTHING UNIQUE about the place other than HIGH ticket.
Hopping Place, good food. Fun atmosphere-could not believe the crowd on a Sunday night. Ceviche was great, Pollo Anaya good. Good tempo to service, nice waiter John attentive. Upscale Mexican!
RUDE,UNPROFESSIONAL. FIRST WHEN WE ARRIVED WE WHERE TOLD THAT OUR TABLE WAS COMING UP FOR 10PPL AND WE WHERE TO WAIT ON THIS OTHER PARTY TO LEAVE. SO WHEN I SAW THE PARTY LEAVING I IMMEDATLEY WENT TO THE WAITRESS AND ASKED HER WHAT WAS GOING ON AFTER NOTICYING THE TABLE SHE PROMISED US WAS BEING OCCUPIED. SHE THEN SAID OHH I HAVE ANOTHER TABLE FOR YOU GUYS. THAT LADY PLACED US TO THE BACK OF THE RESTURANT. I DIDNT FEEL LIKE THAT WAS A PROBLEM AT ALL. SO AS WE BEGAN TO TAKE OUR SEATS 2 OTHER LADIES JOINED US. * REMEBER WE ASKED FOR A TABLE FOR 10* SO THEY HAD SHORT US 1 CHAIR. AFTER ASKING OUR WAITER FOR A CHAIR HE SAID HE WOULD TRY HIS BEST. NOW 5 MIN HAVE PASSED AND STILL NO CHAIR. THATS WHEN THINGS BEGAN TO TAKE A TURN DOWN HILL THE MANAGER BY THE NAME OF "BARBARA" WAS SOOOOO RUDE AND SHE SPOKE TO MY SISTER IN AN UNFASHIONBLY MANNER SHE EVEN TOUCHED HER ON HER SHOULDER AND REFUSED TO SERVE US OVER 1 CHAIR. THATS WHEN WE ALL DECIDED TO LEAVE AND SHE THEN FOLLOWED US OUT THE RESTURANT TALKING TO THE POLICE OFFICE AND WAS TELLING HIM WE OWED $82.00 FOR SOME DRINKS WE HADNT EVEN RECIEVED YET. WE TOLD THE OFFICER OUR STORY AND "BARBARA" THEN TOLD THE POLICE OFFICER SHE MADE A MISTAKE. WE HADNT RECIEVED OUR DRINKS. SHE KEPT GETTING ATTITUDES AND CURSING AT MY SISTER. WE WOULD HAVE LOVED TO TASTE THE FOOD AND DRINKS BUT DUE TO AN ANGRY EMPLOYEE WE WHERE UNABLE TO DO ANYTHING... BARBARA IS A VERY RUDE, AND UNPROFEESIONAL PERSON AND JUST BELIEVE JUSTICE WILL BE SERVED MAAM....
