Hotels >Hotel Granduca
“absolutely love the ambiance in this hotel.”
“The service was incredible and very customized.”
Another Point of View.
From the other side ( I work as an MT, 'on call' for special guest services - spa type work), I can say the concierge is friendly, kind and helpful (... a grumpy concierge is the pits when you are lugging a massage table at 10pm and later).
The hotel itself is emaculate and the rooms are beautiful. It is upscale without being pretentious.
I have worked on-call in most of the upper tier hotels in Houston and I absolutely love the ambiance in this hotel. I can certainly add it to my list of hotels with larger rooms to work in (Four Seasons, Luxury Collection and Omni).
I don't know anything about being a guest, but the people I have worked on seemed to be happy.
Short On Service.
I suspect many of the other reviews raving about the Granduca were written by employees. It is very Texas, the Granduca, in a faux Italianate way.
Plus Side -
The faux finishes and faux Italian everything are a bit much.
The charge ($18) to park yourself.
The concierge couldn't be bothered to help.
We did not receive the "amenities" that were listed on a card they gave us that were supposed to be included. We tried to book an "afternoon tea" and when finally, begrudgingly, it was booked to be delivered room service to the suite, they "forgot." We had invited 2 other couples and it was awful. My spouse had to go downstairs and complain in person. Then an hour late it arrived, just as we had to get ready to leave to be somewhere. Just lame.
They never got our name right, and it is an easy name.
They called us "Mr. & Mrs. John" instead.
The first night they put the breakfast menu on the pillow with one chocolate.
These things are all about paying attention to details.
There are a lot of fine hotels i Houston and I will stay at one of them in the future.
AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING.
Wow. It's all I have to say!
I stayed there for 2 nights on a business trip. The service was incredible and very customized. They even knew my name!! (and I'm a nobody!!). I've never stayed in a nicer hotel than this one. It's better than the Four Seasons.
Oh, and the bed was phenominal. So comfy. I could have just stayed there for a week and enjoyed every moment. It's like you're in a little private forest in the middle of town. It's truly an amazing place to stay. WELL worth the few extra bucks it costs!
This posh hotel near the Galleria is modeled after an Italian villa, with plenty of Old World charm..
Italian-born developer Giorgio Borlenghi realizes his dream of creating an Italian palace in Houston with this 126-room luxury hotel near the Galleria. The spacious rooms feature Tuscan-style decor (handcrafted cabinetry, antique woods, patina finishes), premium linens, stocked kitchenettes, flat-screen high-definition TVs, work desks, large bathrooms, walk-in closets and views of the pool. Guests have access to the hotel's library, lounge, billiards room and fitness center. Hotel-wide wireless Internet access and Continental breakfast are included in the room rate.
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!. I stay in hotels often in Houston, this being one of them. This is one of my favorite hotels to stay in Houston. The service is impecable. Everyone that works there is so eager to please you! You honestly feel as though you are at an Italian Villa. It feels very warm and comfortable. You have to see to understand what I'm saying. Oh, and what's better than 24 hour room service? ;) There are only 2 or 3 places I will stay in Houston. This is definately one of them!
feel like a VIP.
you must have taste to appreciate this hotel. if you like hotels without personality go somewhere else.
the moment you enter granduca you are greeted by the most professional and curteous concierges, that make you feel welcome and catered to. the rooms and suites are incredibly spacious and decorated with fantastic taste. just the books you find in your room (each room has different ones) give you a feeling of how individually targeted is this experience. modern amenities like wireless internet and plasma screens integrate magically with the classic and luxurious furniture surrounding you. once you are in the hotel the world outside magically disappears. the bartender at club malatesta can fix you any drink you might dream of, and the music playing in the backround through the hotel follows you smoothly.
anything you need will be provided to you, including free transportation around the area with your personal chaffeur. do you want rockets tickets? just ask. do you need a special gift for a loved one? just ask.
the real experience comes the second time around. if you come back as a repeat guest you'll feel even more pampered when you find a personal note from the general manager welcoming you back, some extra amenities, your favorite newspaper or the breakfast, just the way you like it. since you also have a fully functioning kitchen, they can pre-store it with anything you want, from wines to cheese or fruit. again, just ask.
looking at the pricing structure, i think it is a real bargain, if you consider free valet parking, free breakfast, free wireless internet, you can get a suite here for less than a stuffy room somewhere else.
i am one of many that has switched to granduca from my old habitual hotel in houston.
now, if there were more granducas around, i would be a happy traveler
Too Much Pomp - Not Enough Circumstance.... there is so much ranting and raving about this property, and I stay in a lot of luxury hotels in houston. While the facility is nice, it's missing the charm and character of a hotel. It feels like an apartment complex. Plus, I would rather stay downtown.
In one word luxury. a luxury hotel with alll the amenities needed to feel like a million dollars. Location, comfort and service of the best.
beautiful place, romatic and very luxurius. Five star a pice of europe here in houston. Granduca a five star hotel which combiens everything for a luxury hotel :boutique hotel, business hotel, romantic hotel, weekend getaway. I love it
