What happened to good customer service?! – WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE! I had have been to Dragon Bowl many times prior to the remodel and change from ordering at the counter to a sit down restaurant. They were known for good food, at a good value and you didnt have to worry about bad service. Fast forward to today, were the food is still good, but prices have gone up and service has gone down, way DOWN.

Today I called in my order for pick up and was told it would be ready in 15 minutes, perfect. I get there about 15 minutes later and pay for the food, expecting to walk right out. The restuarant was semi busy, but most food there takes less than 5 minutes to prepare, so I wasnt worried. Little did I know, I would never get back the next 20 minutes of my life nor a penny back from meal.

I see orders being picked up and people walking out, but try to be patient. Meanwhile, people at their tables are getting restless because order of food are just sitting on the counter, while the man behind the counter who appeared to be in charge, kept shouting "service please" or something to that extent.

Another 10 minutes goes by, which means it has been 30 minutes from my original order, and I ask one of the clueless servers to check on my order. He talked to the same head guy behind the food counter, who looks at me and can tell I am getting restless. The server comes back and says they are going to start my order. 5 minutes later, my order is ready to go and the head guy shouts "thanks, have a good night." Meanwhile, I am trying to communicate to the server my disappointment, to no avail. As I am letting them know how poor their service was, not just for me, but other customers in the restaurant, the same head guy shouts again "thanks, have a good night."

As I tell myself its not worth the aggravation, I walk out promising to never come back again and to share my experience with other locals who appreciate not only good food, but good service. STAY AWAY!

Love it!!! – Love love love dragon Bowl! My favorite thing about this place is that the staff is so helpful. I am a healthy eater and they always give me great suggestions on what to order. I go almost once a week and will keep coming back!

Amazing food, great staff, perfect atmosphere... Excellent all around – My best friend and I eat here regularly (though he makes it there more than me, since he's lucky enough to live super close). Admittedly, it wasn't until my 2nd or 3rd visit to DB that I realized just how much I love this place. The prices are excellent, and I've yet to be disappointed. Favourites of mine include: Bul Gogi--AMAZING beef served with rice and a few mixed veggies (I usually pay $1 more for extra veggies). Super Udon Bowl--You can do a BYOB for $9, and pay $1 extra for udon noodles, or you can just get this (Currently $9). Udon noodles are mixed with Tofu (nice and firm-my fave kind), Shrimp, Egg, and copius veggies, served in a delicious, slightly spicy sauce. Ask for some Sambal Chili sauce to spice it up even more. Build Your Own Bowl (BYOB)--Pick out white or brown rice, or vermicelli, singapore, or thai noodles (udon noodles for an extra $1) wok'd up with your choice of protein, vegetables, and sauce. All the sauces are delicious in their own right, so don't hesitate to try them all. Their sushi chef is just plain amazing. I'm super picky when it comes to sushi, and I told Kevin this. That having been said, he's never made anything I couldn't just RAVE about. Everything on his bar is super fresh (just like the rest of the food in the restaurant), and nothing is ever too fishy. The guys are just perfect, too. They're super fast, incredibly friendly, and very knowledgeable. In short, this place is wonderful; just give it a try or seven.

Fantastic Asian (Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Singaporian, Mongolian) Food – We have driven past Dragon Bowl for several months thinking it was just another lame fast food Asian restaurant. I am so thrilled to know we were wrong! The food is some of the best I have ever eaten. We left in some food daze nirvana wishing we had more room in our tummies to eat more!

The menu is a mix of Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese, Singaporian, Mongolian, etc etc etc. They have a section where you can build your own bowl with UNLIMITED veggies! I hate the places where you get to pick two vegetables and you pay extra for everything over the designated limit. The sushi is labeled as "fresh off the boat" and is better than the expensive sushi restaurants around town. The food is catered to a health conscience clientele and is cooked when you order. I can't wait for next weekend to try something else on the menu!

Great All Around – These guys at Dragon Bowl are just great. Not only is their food great- ESPECIALLY for picky eaters like myself- the Build your own bowl is perfect for me [no veggies that I don't like- just the ones I love!].

And it's reasonably priced.

And, it's a long story but one night I ordered some to-go, my car wouldn't start- and let me just say that Dragon Bowl came through for me- and I am so grateful!

I will definitely be back again and again and again- I've already told all my friends in the Heights and Montrose area to support this business. For those who love some lighter asian fare [nothing i've tried was bulky or heavy- but all light yet filling!]- and for those who are picky- this is the place. I can't think of another spot in Houston that doesn't custom bowls like this- it's a great idea.

And i'm craving their hot and sour soup right now. Great spot!

Healthier Asian alternative! – Service: A

Food: A

Value: B

I love this place. They treat anyone and everyone with the utmost respect. Everyone has smiles on their faces, they are very attentive, and the food is served quickly.

The food is very good, especially since the entrees feel healthier than what you would get at other Asian restaurants. Definitely give the dragon rolls a chance.

I think the value could be slightly improved, because this is not a full restaurant, but more of a

quick bite type of place. It's still a good value though. Here's the cost of a typical dinner for 2.

Dragon Rolls - $4

Commander Tso's Chicken - $9

$15 - total including tax and tip.

$7.50 / person

would eat here every single night – Dragon Bowl is one of my favorite restaurants for the BYOB. It's easily two meals for me and the veggies are always fresh and crunchy. That said, I started bringing my husband thinking it was an easy way for us to go out to eat and he could still add or subtract anything he wanted with that meal. Then he became obsessed with the Bul Gogi. He asks them to just sear the meat and they get it perfect every time.

and then there is the sushi.

We could easily steal the sushi chef, Kevin, and just keep him in our home and care for him like he is our own. He is so accomodating to our diet. He changes dishes around for us without us even asking...he remembers what we eat, what we dont, what my husband loves and has our tastes down to a "T." He prepares the BEST vinaigrettes for us (and all of his sushi and salad dishes. you do not need or even want for soy and wasabi at Dragon Bowl) and remembers to keep the cream or mayo bases out. We basically can tell him, "oh we are craving this from last time" or that we loved a certain flavor and he will do his thing and impress us everytime.

Even when it has been slammed in Dragon Bowl we have always been greeted with a smile and warm welcome. The owner has stopped and explained sauces and ingredients to me (when they were packed) with passion and exictement over his ingredients...taking the time to help me pick something healthy and good for us without ever losing his patience. They also always remember when my husband has fought recently and will ask how it went the next time we come in.

They of course can not make everyone happy all of the time. But we love them! Don't be afraid to get creative and ask for what you want! Ask lots of questions and try some of the sauces before you order them!

love: bul gogi, byob, red chili garlic sauce, tokyo bowl, shiro maguro tataki, the thinly sliced rare beef sashimi and the smortune cookies!!!

got off to a slow start but got WAY better QUICKLY! – my first two visits here were similar to the other reviews. it was bland and generally pretty blah - HOWEVER. it now seems that they've sorted out whatever was awry. ive been 4 or 5 times times in the last few weeks and its been great each time! not "change your life" great. but very much more than decent.

and you cant beat the price. most things are between $7 and $11. its nice to go in and feed two people (with leftovers) for $20ish bucks!

as mentioned in other reviews, the staff is always very friendly and the vibe is casual and relaxed. i HIGHLY suggest the "build your own bowl" option - udon noodles with beef and szechwan sauce.

for those who were disapointed early on, i'd say give 'em another shot ; )

cool concept, poor execution – Been to Dragon bowl twice. It attempts to offer a refreshing take on familiar Asian dishes. On both visits the staff was very helpfull and friendly. The food, on the other hand, looked good but was void of any flavor. The dishes we ordered tasted exactly the same even though one was a garlic ginger base and the other a chili. I give them an A for effort, but a D for execution.
