Great Place for my Dogs
by MustLoveDogs at Citysearch
The Mutt Hutt has been a lifesaver for me for the past two years. My three dogs attend 2-3 times weekly and love the place. I rescue dogs in the Houston area and would recommend The Mutt Hutt to all. They have plenty of room to play and time to nap when needed. I travel often and board all my rescues and personal pets with The Mutt Hutt. While I am away, I am able to view them on the live camera and they are having a blast. My dogs get so excited to go there, that when we are driving down the street, they start to bark in excitement. I completely trust and admire this company.
- Pros: Experienced, Space and Hours
- Cons: wish they could go more

I do not usually write reviews but my dogs treatment is so bad I think one is waranted. I read the other reviews and thought this place would be a good place-I WAS WRONG! I am not a disgruntled employee. I am well educated professional and love my dogs.
I initially boarded my 2 dogs here because of the nice facilities and the idea that they could out of the kennel most of the day. I went and looked at the place and the owner/manager seemed nice. The first visit seemed to go well with daily pictures but both dogs had very loose stools for nearly a week after I picked them up. I thought it was do to the new enviroment ect so I used them again, THe second time I boarded them for 2 days and all went well my only issue is that my recently bathed/groomed dogs smelled absolutely awful. So when I had to make 2 back to back trips at the last minute out of town I boarded them for 5 days and asked for a bath before I picked them up.
HUGE MISTAKE! One of my dogs had lime, green eye discharge on one and on eye so red and inflammed he could barely open it. When I asked the manger/owner about it so said it was likely allergies and "sorry" then quickly locked the door. Everyone knows allergies do not give one sided eye redness and discharge. Of course the next day, my other dog came down with conjunctivits too, requiring medicine and we hope it clears up soon. We will need another visit to the vet if it does not. This is all that much worse as we have a small child and are expecting a baby any day!
I think the thing that makes it so bad is that the manager/owner did not seem to really care that my dog was sick and when I called to speak to her about it the empolyee who I spoke told me "Ok" No one offered apology or explaination or even called to see what was going on with the dogs, especially concerning in light of the fact my dogs clearly picked it up from another animal and therefore the other dogs were also exposed. I am sure other people would want to know. If my dogs were children in daycare the daycare would definately have informed the other parents.
BOTTOM LINE: My dogs got sick while there and the the owner, employees did not care. I will never use them again and would not recommend anyone who cares about their dogs doing the same.
- Pros: nice facilities, dogs not in kennel all day
- Cons: My dogs got sick, Non caring manager/employee
5 Stars Isn't Enough! The Mutt Hut is Awesome!

My puppy has gone to The Mutt Hut twice a week since July. She absolutely loves it and wishes she could go every day. She always comes home tired!
The Mutt Hut offers streaming video of the play area, so I can see my puppy play with the other dogs and run around and generally have a great time. It's a good thing my company prohibits streaming video at work, or I wouldn't get anything done! I also appreciate the daily report cards on my puppy's behavior.
I recently had the opportunity to board my puppy at The Mutt Hut for a couple of nights was extremely pleased. My puppy was able to eat her normal diet (including treats!) and to have her favorite toys from home. Boarding her at a place she loves to be at was a no-brainer and far less stressful for everyone involved.
The biggest benefit of The Mutt Hut, for me, is that it's really helped my puppy with her socialization skills. A secondary benefit is that the regular daycare keeps her physically active and far less destructive around the house.
If anyone in the Clear Lake area is considering daycare for their beloved dog, I would urge them to check out The Mutt Hut.
- Pros: My puppy loves it.
- Cons: I can't afford to send her every day.
