I am visiting Houston, TX, from Miami, FL. I had high expectations about BBQ in TX. I had Pork ribs special with beans, slaw and French fries and to wash it down I had Iced tea.

As soon as you enter you see three huge BBQ pit (I love) they actually slow cook/smoke at the premises, pulled porked looked good, however I ordered BBQ pork ribs, to my surprise the removed the large slab from plastic rap (go figure) how do you smoke it if you keep it in the plastic rap, I guess that is why I could not taste the smoke at all, they served it with two table spoon of BBQ sauce (I also had high expectation for the bbq sauce from TX, but I was disapointed, it was not good at all, Jack Daniel's BBQ sauce at $1.25 straight from store bottle taste much better, beans and slaw were okay nothing to have seconds or brag about, French Fries were great they are actually like steak fries (bit salty), Iced tea was great, would I go back, I don't think so, the only reason I went to that place is because two nights ago I went to Pappas steak house and it was superb You should read my review on that I gave it 5 stars. same owner but diff locations, I would say shorty's or Scruby's in South Florida is superb next to Pappas BBQ.

• Pros: Iced tea, pulled pork and french fry (if they go easy on salt)
• Cons: Pork ribs, slaw

A great Sliced beef Po' Boy - great beef and pork ribs.

I've been to several of the Pappa's BBQ locations and have always found the quality of their sliced beef to be very good. They also have really great beef and pork ribs. When I have friends come into town one of our first stops is always Pappa's for a sliced beef Po' Boy with pico de gallo on it...just great and we have never been unhappy with their quality.
