“My guess is that this company is playing a dirty game, catering to people who may or may not be illegal citizens or otherwise don't know their rights, hoping they won't know what to do about it.”
“was very angry when I saw the bill they first did this on, and when they neglected to answer their phones the 3 different times I called, I wrote an email asking why the rates doubled, etc. (including the fact that Reliant and TXU were both currently of”
Energy deregulation has enabled companies like Amigo to exist. I've been with them a year and it's been rough sledding the whole time. If you are enticed by their low Kwatt/hr rate beware. My experience has been terrible.Too much to go into, but from customer service, to billing to provisioning of service, these guys are truly terrible and are just out for the $.
Bad Business.
These guys are the worst. They charge hidden fees for being a day late, more hidden fees for being 3 days late then out of nowhere fees just because.
They send bills at all times during the months. Some months you will get two bills.
Stay away from these people. RUN RUN FAST!
worst customer service.. i been with this company about 1 years. they sending my bill to some other place & i always received disconnected notice ,extra charges i called & changed my address.still same problem i called commercial cust. service& i asked them why my bill go to another location.she hang up on me 2 times.then i called again to talk to the supervisor then she told me u need to give me reason to talk to supervisor i told her is personal then she hang up the phone 2 times.they are unexperienced people& company.after this incident i called one day& ask for my previous month bill copy by fax. they never sent me i waited for 2 hoursto get fax. then finally i changed my provider to ambit energy.
Buyer Beware - Amigo Energy is a Scam.
Do not sign up with Amigo energy!!!
Orginally I attempted to sign up and I received a message that I would be contacted to see about a deposit. After not hearing from them I cancelled and signed up with another company before any changes were made with my previous energy provider.
15 days later I recieved a notice from Amigo Engery stating I had a balance pending in excess of $184.00. I immediately contacted the office and spoke to the manager and stated to her that at no time had I ever been given notice by Amigo Energy of my approval and further stated that I had never recieved service from this company. After being on the phone for almost one hour the woman indicated that she was going to correct the mistake and zero my account. She indicated that I may receive one more notice but to disregard it.
One week later I recieved a call from Amigo Energy stating that I had an unpaid balance on my account. Again I went through the whole process and this time the Amigo representative assured me that she would send my an email indicating I did not have a balance with them.
I never recieved the email, but I did get a notice dated the same day I had spoken to them a second time stating that I had an outstainding balance and they were threatening to send me to the collection agency.
Again I contacted them and after threatening to file a complaint with the Texas Public Utlity Commission the representative sent me an email that I had a zero balance. No apology for my inconvenience or anything.
If Amigo Energy continues to send me notices I will file a compliant with the PUC.
I really believe Amigo Energy goes far beyond ineptness or stupidity, but intentional scam!
Don't Do It No Matter What the Initail Savings!!!. I signed up for a 6 month fixed rate plan, but did not note when my plan ran out. Then I started being charged 21.5 cents per kWH. Then it took 45 days to convert to someone else. I was not going to sign back up with Amigo after they did this to me. Not only that, I recommended that my parents sign up too for their main house and the beach house. They did this at the same time as I did so the same thing happened. Now, I hear they are sending letters 30 days before, but that was not the case when I used them. I now use GEXA and am very happy.
Amigo Energy is Expensive and Bad. You really don't want to get involved with this company. They don't bill you on time, have tight billing cycles, and then charge these horrendous fees if you are one day late according to their schedule. Avoid!
Amigo Energy is THE WORST. So, Amigo is quick to take your money but when it comes to them owing you money... it will take forever for you to get it, if you do at all. the first year i was with Amigo, everything was fine. then my bills start being due at different times during the month... once on the 9th and then the next one was on the 27th. and it continued like that. they owed me 40 dollars from when i switched apts., but i never saw it and was told the mgr. was going to call me, on 3 seperate occasions, but never heard from anyone. their rates keep increasing and they lie. i really don't see how their practices are legal. i do not reccomend Amigo for anyone. they will bleed you dry. oh, and if you are one day late paying your bill, which i happened to do once, they send you a disconnect notice the next day and then on top of the late fee they charge you another 20+ dollars for the disconnect notice. its insane how greedy and coniving they are.
MORE ABUSE BY AMIGO ENERGY. WOULD NOT SEND PROMISED PAPER COPY OF BILLING STATEMENT. WOULD TAKE OUR MONEY BEFORE WE COULD VERIFY. AMIGO DIDN'T KEEP THEIR PROMISES UNTILL THE 4TH OR 5TH CALL/PROMISE @30 TO 45 MINUTES PER CALL OR UNTILL WE FILED WITH THE TX PUC.
avoid avoid avoid!. wow....i just got my bill from amigo on 8-4-09...a month after i was supposed to get it. i still have not received a paper bill. i found out they are threatening to turn off my electricity in a week and a half! i waited on the phone for 30 minutes the other day to inquire about my bill, but no answer! i dont believe they are THAT busy. just lazy. i am done with this company forever. if they were the only electric suppliers, i would burn candles for light and use steam power for everything else. not worth the headaches at all!
Avoid this company..
Would not return inquiries concerning high electric bills.
Attempted to contact by phone, but very long waits.
Attempted to contact by e-mail, but no replies.
The PUC should investigate this company.
