Don Cafe“The best Vietnamese sandwiches I've had.”
“Seeing as their sign has "sandwich" in huge letters, I'll go ahead and say that's what they're known for and they do a really good job.”
Try the #1 BBQ pork sandwich with egg.... I’ve driven by Don Café countless times without stopping by because the competion is vast. Just behind it, for instance, in the same shopping center, Givral’s sandwiches beckons with a more familiar and recognizable name. But when I asked several friends where they like to go for “banh mi”, the traditional Vietnamese sandwich, several told me that Don Café’s is their favorite, which meant only one thing: I had to try it. My first experience there was mediocre. I ordered the #1 BBQ pork (banh mi thit nuong) sandwich, which is their most popular. The bread was good, but I found the meat a bit on the fatty and tasteless side. The Vietnamese coffee (café sua da), likewise left me unmoved; it was nothing special, the same as I could get at countless other places. But this past week, I decided to give Don Café another try, and several days later I am still thinking about the delicious sandwich I had there. It was the same #1 sandwich with an added egg ($.50 supplement for the egg), and boy was it tasty. Overfilled with meat and a perfectly cooked egg, flaky crispy bread that didn’t cut up the roof of my mouth, this banh mi had to be one of the best I’ve had in Houston. All I can say is: you have to try it for yourself, and with a measly $2.75 investment, I’m sure you’ll be sold. I’m already plotting a return visit.
it so yummy >.<.

cheap total was $6
CASH ONLY
The best Vietnamese sandwiches I've had.. I've been here many times, and I've always had their pork meatball sandwich. It's delicious, and I highly recommend this place for their sandwiches, at least the pork meatball/xiu mai. I haven't eaten anything else here (not a big fan of the bbq that everyone else eats, but they sell a lot of those and a lot of combination sandwiches too), but I've heard that their pho isn't all that great. Seeing as their sign has "sandwich" in huge letters, I'll go ahead and say that's what they're known for and they do a really good job.
