Editorial Review for The Corridor – by Andrea Loera

In Short
Located in an old warehouse building off Winbern, this small nightclub promises big DJ-fueled dance parties and a hideaway atmosphere. Packs of 20-something scenesters climb the darkly lit narrow stairwell to the main club area where original warehouse floors and windows meld with modern leather furniture and flat-screen TVs. The dance floor provides for the center of activity in the open room. The cordoned-off area nearby makes up the VIP area ideal for watching bodies gyrate to in-house DJs.

This place is, to put it kindly, and overrated broom closet. Sure, it was bumpin' the first few weeks it was open, but everyone's figured out that there's no reason to be here. I went there a few weekends ago just to show my friend what the fuss was about and it was literally empty . . . on a Saturday night . . . at midnight. At least I got to use the bathroom while I was there. The decor? What decor? It's straight out of 1982. And there's a difference between "minimalist" and just plain cheap. You basically get a room, some benches, and a few couches. That's it, I kid you not. The music is obnoxiously loud to the point of being abusive, and you feel bad for the (reasonably) good DJs who spin there (though probably not anymore--who wants to spin to an empty room?). The drink prices are also offensively high - $5 for a Shiner ought to be a Class A misdemeanor in Texas. Having a mortgage to pay I didnt dare order a mixed drink after that travesty. The bartenders are also rude and seem to enjoy ignoring people (even my beautiful female companion!). And to top it off? They have the audacity to charge a cover! They should be paying CUSTOMERS to go there, not the other way around. Seriously, people have abandoned this place as if it were the giardia ward of the local orphanage, and for good reason. They need to lose the cover, halve the drink prices, and make the place hospitable for customers to stand a chance . . .

Pros: Men's bathroom has multiple urinals.

Cons: Everything else.

the stairs are lined with candles, a precursor for the calm before the storm, but getting to the end of the journey proved to be a tad bit disappointing. the ambience of the club was just like that of any other club - there were no special features or character to really give it distinction. it was way too small for comfort and quickly got crowded, making it hard to manuever around. i won't be coming back to this place.*

Pros: location

Cons: crowded, small, nothing special

Small, second-story club tucked away on a downtown side street makes for a hideaway dance party.  See the full editorial review.
