“The huge variety of classes and workshops offered is amazing!”
NIAMoves, is more than just an exercise studio. When I walked in the door years ago, I knew I was hooked. The teachers are experienced and enthusiastic. The hours are flexible enough to fit my schedule with early morning, evening and weekend classes. While the studio offers a variety of classes, it is NIA that I am enamored with. NIA incorporates; dance, ta chi movement, and yoga together with a purpose that not only exercises my body but my mind as well.
Yoga, Pilates, Zumba, Bellydance, and Concerts. I've watched NiaMoves grow ever since it became an independent studio space. I think NiaMoves has become a fixture of the Houston fitness community. Since there are two studios so close together, it's easy to find a class that fits my schedule. I've tried Nia, Pilates, Laughter Yoga, and Zumba...you can experiment with different instructors to find the one that fits you. For example, I chose a more intense Nia class...and a lighter intensity Pilates class! Students get a lot of personal attention (unlike in a gym) and new interesting classes are always showing up on the schedule. NiaMoves even has live musical events!
Not quite what it use to be.. NiaMoves has always been a fantastic place to get a great workout, and enjoy a variety of classes. Unfortunately the main instructors/owners of NiaMoves have been teaching less classes, and are now having most of the Nia classes taught by amateur instructors. Needless to say the workouts have not been very challenging. I really hope that the owners will soon realize whats happening to their business and make it worthy of a 5 star rating again.
Variety of Classes - you never get bored!. NiaMoves has two awesome studios located in the Houston Heights. In the past two years, I have taken Zumba, Nia classes, Burlesque Basics, Samba workshop, and NightClub Cardio. I like to do a variety of things when I work out & I LOVE to dance so NiaMoves is a good fit. The instructors are always helpful and friendly. Everyone is so laid back too. Good mix of students (all ages and sizes). Both studios have nice wooden floors & plenty of mirror-walls. Sound systems are nice and loud too! They now have an African Dance fitness class in the rotation... cannot wait to try that soon.
Fun and silly workout. I had a good time from the first time I did a nia moves workout. It made me feel a bit silly but after that i just had fun. What I like is that you don't even have to be good and you can take it at your own pace. It also made me feel comfortable that there were people of all shapes and sizes. They made me feel welcome and part of the group from the first class. Thanks Ya'll!
You MUST try this! Nia and NiaMoves move me!.
I love Nia, and I especially love NiaMoves! I love the instructors, the community there, the number of classes they offer, the variety of classes they offer, that my kids can have fun at Nia for Tots, that they offer free childcare for some classes, the gorgeous dance floor, and the joy I feel there before I even start to move.
And, the first two weeks are free! It'll change your life!!
Love Nia! Love NiaMoves Studio!!!.
NiaMoves studio is very convenient for anyone in the central Houston area. I live in Garden Oaks and it takes me about 15 - 20 minutes to get to either studio. The huge variety of classes and workshops offered is amazing! I'm a Nia fan AND a fan of the 6 a.m. nia classes. Both Georgia and Laura make Nia fun and educational. In my opinion, there is not an exercise that exists that encompasses body, mind and spirit like Nia does. I highly recommend checking out a class - - PLUS the 1st 2 weeks are FREE for new students. You don't hear of many studios offering a great deal like that!
Nia and NiaMoves Studio ROCK!
NiaMoves rocks, rolls and hoops!.
Can't decide what to do each day; yoga?, Nia?, Hoop Dance?, Pilates?, Zumba?.... Plus all the wonderful workshops and belly dancing....
A wonderful community of body and mind awareness professionals...
The Most Fun You Can Have with Your Clothes On!.
I love, love, love NiaMoves. I take Zumba and Nia classes there. Zumba is a latin dance/exercise class. The instructor Karen is awesome! She makes the classes fun and exciting. If you've ever dreamed of being a fly girl this class is for you! No coordination required. Karen says the only requirement is that you bring your smile to class!
I also take Nia classes with Kristie on Saturday. I love this class because it helps me get more in touch with my body and helps loosen everything else up. It's kind of mix between dance, yoga and martial arts. Anyone can do it no matter what your fitness level--that's what I love about it--you can do it whatever level you are at.
The Buddhist meditation classes are great, too. I feel calmer, happier and more joyful.
If you live in the Heights or work downtown--definitely check it out if you're looking for a fun place to get healthy in your mind, body and spirit! You won't be disappointed!
Great studio with quite a variety. What a great studio! There's a variety of classes offered, though Nia is really the studio's specialty. Classes begin at 6 a.m. and are offered until the last one at 7:30. Instructors are friendly, knowledgeable, make everyone feel welcome, and offer great workouts. People who attend classes are friendly as well. The great thing is that there's no pretense and students represent a warm blend of all types and ages. Throw on whatever you feel comfortable moving in and have fun at this place!
