Scratched & Bruised.
I used to believe that there wasn't such a thing as a bad massage until I went here.
The massage therapist at this location left me scratched and bruised. When I went in to see the manager the following day she apologized, stated that it wasn't acceptable, that she would talk to the therapist and refund me for the massage. I had to call her back several times before the charge was reversed.
find the right person.
I got sucked into signing up for a membership...and proceeded to try three different massage therapists, some more than once. I did not think I would ever get my monies worth and was ready to walk away, until the front desk lady convinced me to try one more person, who she said was "really good." I was skeptical but figured I might as well since it was already paid for.
That was 2 years ago... I have been going to Mike Tran ever since then and have been very satisfied. I put a lot of strain on my body and am generally in pain for one reason or another. Medication doesn't help and if it does, it only lasts a few hours. One session with Mike seems to relieve most, if not all, of my complaints and usually lasts until close to time for my next appointment.
If you had a bad experience at Massage Envy, I'd give Mike a try. I'm glad I did.
We are very happy that you found the right therapist. We have over 30 therapists on staff and perform over 2,000 massages each month. We strive to match each individual with the right therapist, sorry we were not able to do it on your first few visits, but we're glad you found Mike.
For everyone else, please let know what you are looking for and we will do our best to find you the therapist who best fits your needs.
former massage envy member.
the turnaround @ massage envy is notorious! obviously there's a reason why SO many people quit. the massages are so-so but once you actually find someone you like, they leave. the people are friendly but that's not enough for so-so massages.
pros: inexpensive, clean
cons: you get what you pay for...cold rooms, no frills, inexperienced massage therapists
Will not go back ... horribly run.
Contrary to what some have said, it's not the masseuses that are the problem. You do have to try several before you find a good one. But they have several good ones. (I had only one really bad massage there. The very young lady was told I had a pinched nerve and that I wanted her to work it out and she barely pressed down on me at all despite requests to do so. Afterwards, she said sheepishly, "Well, I hope your back gets better." I thought, "You did nothing for it!" and I left ticked off.) I also think the atmosphere is nice and facilities are clean.
My problem is with the people at the front (who, as one person recollected are always new and clueless) and the management. They will tell you one thing and then do another. They will try and sell you a contract and do nothing they promised they would do. When you try and make a complaint, they ignore you. When they say the manager is gone and she'll contact you back, they lie. I will never return. I actually got online to find another masseuse because my back is KILLING me. And I couldn't resist seeing if others have had the same experience with Massage Envy; they have. The Clear Lake Massage Envy sucks.
you get what you pay for.
although it's a clean place, the massage was not worth the money. even with the membership, if you can't keep going to the same therapist who learns exactly what your body needs, then why go at all. the therapist even complained that they were treated like work horses.
i guess you get what you pay for. go somewhere else....
Very bad experience. Very bad experience - I cancelled the membership after the 1 year contract term, because every therapist that I liked quit (3). While trying to use credits for massages, that I had not used, a new therapist came in, and I liked her. I was told that I could go on month to month, if I wanted and not sign a new contract. I continued for a few months after, and went through 2 more therapists that left, so I decided to just quit for good. I was told by people at the front desk, that since I had already completed a cancellation form, I did not have to sign a new one, since I was on month to month. I reminded the front desk 3 times not to put through the charge to my credit card on March 1st. I was told that they knew I had cancelled, and there was no problem - they would not put through another charge. Well of course they did, and I am still disputing the charge. The manager Sonia has lied about everything. The lesson I have learned from all this, do not ever give someone your credit card number to automatically put through charges, and if you ever quit - make sure you put it in writing and speak to the manager. It is still not resolved, and they continue to lie about everything, and do not care about their customers.
What a zinger....
That previous comment sounds like someone who has invested stock in Massage Envy. The words come straight from the generic pamphlet about their membership program.
Don't believe the "feeling that every body wants," as soon as, you walk through the door, the squelching negative energy will suffocate you. Please, take if from someone who invested a ton of energy and money into this place, and take your business elsewhere.
Elsewhere, means it would be better for your uneducated husband to massage you, on a cement floor, without a heater, on a freezing cold day, than to step foot into this establishment.
The feeling every "body" wants.... I've been to several massage clinics in the houston area and have notice a major difference between Massage Envy Clear Lake & the rest. The people there are outstanding. The therapists are warm and welcoming. I've had several massages from different therapists and have yet to find one that isn't great! That, alone is hard to find. The receptionists are super friendly & always remind me to drink enough water. Although this place isn't a frilly spa with a lot of upgrades or even hot stone, the therapeutic massage they offer is outstanding. In the economical state we are finding ourselves in, I'm glad that companies like Massage Envy are pulling away from the elitist status and offering great service to everyone at a price we can all afford.
save your money and get a massage some where else.
I cannot think of even one reason to give this joke of a business, one star. From the way they hire just anyone that walks through the door and do no follow up training or evaluations. Most of the therapists are straight out of school. However, complaining about the quality of the massage gets you nowhere. They never seem to fire a therapist. But they role thru front desk staff so fast that they never know your name or what you get every time you go in. If you have any money issues or complaints, forget getting a call back from the actual manager, that lady is out to lunch. I have heard her talk about the most inappropriate things with men in the lobby. And the other front desk staff has potty mouths. The owners are never there it seems because i've never met them. Just ask for a corporate number and they give you a big mouth full of trash.
I have never had a worst experience or seen such bad customer service. This place is a joke. The reason the lights are turned down so low is because its filthy dirty. I have met several people that feel the same way. You can get a quality massage elsewhere for the same price so look around some more and don't let this joke of a place stay in business...
Loved It!.
I have tried one other Massage Envy and I had a great experience at both of them.
The receptionist was very friendly and professional.
The massage therapist was awesome. She asked me about my problem areas and spent lots of time working on them. I had a gift card, so I booked my first 2 hour massage. I don't think I will ever go back to a one hour massage again. I was so relaxed by the end of the massage, I could barely walk.
I will be going back again soon!
