Houston >Massage Envy
“The West Gray location deteriorated over the period of time I frequented it, and it suffers from two business killers: Service and conditions are inconsistent, and they can't hold on to their best therapists.”
“The experience was somewhat like visiting a fast food restaurant when you are in the mood for a nice meal.”
“Great customer service, ladies at front desk were very nice”
“It's close to my home, it's a great price, it's easy to book appointments.”
“This gift card was the best present I have received in a long time!”
Customer service is horrible at River Oaks. Get your act together.
Don't sign up.
When you come for your first trial massage the receptionists will be very sweet and go out of their way to try to sign you up. Once you've signed up for a 12-month membership, it's a whole different story. The customer service at this location sucks, but most importantly the massage therapists are grossly underpaid and consequently don't try very hard. Most of them are immigrants, pushed to choose massage as their occupation for lack of other options, and unable to speak good English to work indepenently.
You are expected to pay $10 to $20 in tips to the masseurs to make up for the minimum wage they are apparently making.
On top of that the customer service after you signed up for their membership is terrible.
Lost a customer. I've been going to Massage Envy frequently for as long as they've been open on W. Gray. I probably get more massages there than members do in general. I am not a member because I don't like things on my debit or credit card. This is the only reason. For that reason, I actually pay more per visit and always tip very well. So, today, I called to see if I could get an appointment and indeed they had one available at 4. She indicated to me that she needed a credit card to take an appointment. I said, really? Why? I've been calling for appointments forever and have never had to provide a credit card. She said I could talk to her manager. I said, no... just tell the manager that she's lost a customer. With all of the issues with identity theft and fraud around us, they should be more reasonable about asking for such things. How disappointing.
Worst Customer Service Ever. Massage Envy used to be fantastic. I went in and had a great massage with excellent customer service.I stopped going to this location when I was ripped off for time and a massage therapist refused to do deep tissue even though I asked. Every time I would complain someone would always say I am so sorry. I will get a manager to call, but they never did. They would also say we are trying to get back to the way we used to be,but a year later have not improved. Basically they seem to lie to make you seem like they care, but never follow though.
Great massage. They WANT to make you feel special.. I am thinking "new to town" guy has the wrong address. I had a massage here for the umpteenth time, Thursday, and it was FANTASTIC AS USUAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The staff were on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They were efficient and courteous and extremely friendly. The massage by Jerry was for 90 minutes and I felt great. I came in with a baaaad headache and left totally relaxed and in no pain. He gave me some solid advice for my next visit which I booked before I left. This location is always well staffed and clean. I love coming here and this is one of my best investments in me.
I'm absolutely in heaven. I walked in today at 10:30 AM and managed to get an hour and a half massage scheduled for noon. Was very impressed with the availability - although they warned me that was just because it was early in the day - but still! Just got finished with my massage from Mike. An hour and a half of pure therapeutic massage. He really knows his muscle groups. Worked out zillions of knots and tense areas in my neck, shoulders and back. He took the time on the trouble spots, naming all the muscles, which I had never even heard of. Used lots of different techniques until I finally felt the muscles relax. Had some very tender spots I didnt' even know about, but he said that's common for attorneys like me who sit at my computer a lot, so my shoulders were about up at my ears. That's a lot of tension!!! He stretched my neck and worked the knots there. He said that I'm lucky I don't have migraines with that kind of tension. And I get a lot of massages! But not always therapeutic. Sometimes I just want to relax, so I'll ask them not to work the knots. This time, i'm heading for an Epsom salt bath. Should treat myself to this rigorous of a massage more often. I feel like i just worked out. Great massage. Thank you Mike. I'm going to tell all my friends who go to this Massage Envy to ask for Mike - as long as i get first dibs on the appointments, and oh yeah, don't tell my partners where I was at noon on a Friday!
UUUGGGHHH!!!!!! UNPROFFESSIONAL & HORRIBLE MASSAGE!!!!!!!!!!.
I just moved to Houston, because I retired from the Navy, and was in the medical corps (Physical Therapist)
Im my 30 years of service, I've had many massages from around the world. Massage Envy is close to my home, so I thought I would give them a try. I will list my massage event:
1. The person didn"t her anatomy, when I asked her to focus on a muscle on my right leg, she went to the wrong muscle, & it wasn"t even on my leg !!!!!
2. The person's massage didn"t flow, it was jerky & hesitant.
3. The person's personal hygene was poor, breath, body & clothes smelled bad
4. Her demeanor & attitude were poor
I could not wait for the sessio to end. You can't call these people "massage therapists"
I will never return to Massage Envy again!!
Best Massage in Houston!.
Thank you, Houston, for voting Massage Envy the Best Massage in Houston on the KHOU poll. We love what we do ? providing professional, convenient massages at affordable prices ? and we are thrilled that you do, too! We have a program for everyone who wishes to enjoy the wellness benefits of massage. Most of you take advantage of our wellness program, receiving deeply discounted massages in exchange for a 12-month agreement. For those who prefer not to make a commitment, we still love to have you visit us often, and judging by the numbers, you do!
The reason for our success in serving your needs is our huge pool of talented therapists. They are the best of the best, going through rigorous training and screening prior to their hire, and rigorous orientation into the Massage Envy family afterwards. Our therapists have an average of 5 years in the profession, all with the healing gift of touch. More than half of our therapists have been with us for over a year, many for over two or three years. We have a wonderful compensation package that benefits those hard-working professionals, many of whom are able to buy their first home thanks to their job security at Massage Envy. Many of our therapists have told us that the wonderful clients and safe, fraternal work environment are the secrets to their happiness.
Again, Houston, thank you for voting us the Best Massage in Houston. We greatly appreciate your support and your business!
Generally "entry-level" massage. Best therapists don't stick around. Inconsistent service and conditions.. I received many, many massages here over the course of about two years. In general, ME is a cost-effective approach to identifying why types and styles of massage you enjoy. Once you identify one or two therapists who deliver what you want, schedule sessions with them regularly and tip them well -- they don't make much in these franchise factories. (Ask them!) But then, that's why the prices are low, right? The West Gray location deteriorated over the period of time I frequented it, and it suffers from two business killers: Service and conditions are inconsistent, and they can't hold on to their best therapists. Temperatures in the massage rooms can be too cold or too hot. Front desk staff ranges from extremely polite and efficient to surly and downright incompetent (e.g., I scheduled a new session over the phone after my favorite therapist left the company; I showed up for the appointment, and they had no record of it -- the therapist I was scheduled to see wasn't even on duty that night. These scheduling errors happened with some frequency to me and others. Unacceptable! -- this is what ME does, this is their bread and butter!) The sound system started off okay, but it ended up a scratchy mess. The "music" is not particularly pleasing, and it couldn't be changed. Some of the rooms smelled bad after the expansion. There are some fantastic massage therapists at ME -- but the most talented ones don't stay. And the talent that is there doesn't exude a lot of warmth for their employer. Why? Think about that before you set too-high expectations of this establishment. There are a lot of potential positives to this business (especially for "entry-level" massage clients), but the folks at ME clearly haven't got the business model right yet.
We are so sorry you have been disappointed in our service. We always encourage feedback directly to the therapists and the manager so that they can address your needs immediately. River Oaks is our flagship location, and is the number one Massage Envy in the country as of June 2008, so we take our job very seriously. In addition, Massage Envy as a whole was voted Best Massage in Houston by thousands of voters in a citywide poll, an honor that we also take seriously. We would love the opportunity to make things right with you, so that you will join our large base of very happy clients. Please call the clinic and ask to speak to our manager today!
Flexable hours and Freindly Staff. My experience was very pleasant. The staff are nice and inviting.I am a member because of the flexible hours, and the various modalities available.
