No BOOM @ The Boom Boom Room. I met some friends at the Boom Boom Room on a Thursday for Happy Hour. I wasnt sure what to expect with a name like Boom Boom Room. But lets just say there's NO BOOM in the Boom Boom Room. The one good thing about the place is the decor. But the music was TOO mellow and the place was empty, which would have been cool if we were 40-something or older. This is NOT the place for you if you are 20-something/30-something and looking for a decently priced Hour Hour and upbeat music. The price for a Mimosa was $7 and didnt even taste like it had any champagne in it. The price for a pannini was $12 and I think Jack in the Box tasted better than theirs!?! But to top it off, the waitress was EXTREMELY rude and even followed us out to the parking lot to ask "Was everything alright?" as if asking "why did you leave me a $12 tip on an $84 tab?" Well maybe if you were alittle more courtious to your guests, atleast put out ONE smile. Then dont rudely ask them "Do you want a drink? Well, you have 30 seconds til Happy Hour ends." then a few minutes later tell them "well you have a few more mintues til Happy Hour ends." Make up your mind!? And to top it off, DONT BE PSYCHO and follow your customer outside to their car while killing them softly with daggers coming from your eyeballs as they drive off!?! Thats a sure why to SCARE your customers off and make them NEVER want to go back there unless they have a restraining order against YOU. Honestly, I dont even know what her name was...she never mentioned it to us...but she's a skinny little white lady with blonde hair to her shoulders with a long dragon tail attached to her a$$. As if you need me to emphasis this anymore, I do NOT recommend this place. There's too many other bars/restaurants/lounges in Houston to enjoy good music, decently priced Happy Hour, and GOOD service.

Will Be Back Soon. It was a very satisfing experience, the waitress Kaisi was just great. I am a business owner and must entertain clients frequently and the Boom Boom Room was recommended for the ambiance. I like to be able to talk to my client without having to scream and could hold a conversation without difficulty and rude interuptions. The wine list is extensive, the menu is limited but you don't go there for fine dinning. I did have a sandwich and my guest also ordered food which was excellent. I was impressed the waitress told me that everything was made fresh daily at their office and brought in daily. The owner is involved in the total preparation and in my opinion does a great job. the place is very friendly and I highly recommend the wine and a sandwich.

Horrible Horrible Horrible. Hated it!

My girlfriends and I were referred to this little spot in the Heights and since it's very close to home for me, we decided to check it out on a Friday night. First of all the place was DEAD and everywhere else worth going in Houston is packed at 11 PM on a Friday night. The guy behind the bar was very rude and was more concerned with the TV than the customers and if he wasn't watching TV he was on the phone. The sandwiches were so over priced, they come on tissue paper and are served with chips AND they're in shrink wrap in the fridge (nice and fresh yeah right) this place is terrible and I hope it closes and something cool opens there because it really is a great location.

Overpriced Ciabatta and really bad music. Went there for a ladies night out with my friends, they gave us a menu and they only had 25% of the things listed there (Great 4 bussiness). When I ordered my "latini" ciabatta and asked for an "extra" ingredient, they explained that they are pre-made, so they just put them in the oven "as is". (Yeah...can't beat the freshness)...Half way through my ciabatta...I bit a Stone cold piece of meat...(it was not even de-frosted!)...Anyways, my friends wanted to stay and listen to the "live band" from switzerland, so we hung around 'till we listened to this very nice guy with not a very good voice...I mean, even Paula would of agreed with Simon Cowell as he said "Horrendous!!".... Bottom line...$22 for a glass of wine, horrendous music and a cold sandwich is not my idea of fun.

Fabulous Atmosphere, Great Wine List, Fantastic Food, The Best Live Music. This is my new favorite place and not just because it's in my neighborhood. It's the kind of place that not only the Heights has been lacking, but all of Houston. I'd been hearing about it from friends - seems everyone in the "know" already goes there - and finally decided to check it out in spite of the poor review given to it on this site. It is a gorgeous place with an artsy, but unpretentious feel to it. I found the wait staff to be friendly and fast. The wine list is extensive and seems to include good offerings from everywhere and in every price range. They also offer a selection of different champagne cocktails - I tried several and they were all good! The menu is limited but what they do have is delicious. The grilled paninis are gourmet, but Texas-sized! And the desserts alone are worth visiting for. They also have the best cappucino I have ever tasted anywhere and I've tasted a lot! Make at least one of your visits on a Saturday night when they have live music by Walter Shannon & Jeff Vyner - very talented, very cool!

Iffy. My girlfriend and I went to the Gretchen Phillips show this past Sunday at the Boom Boom Room and my service was awful at first. Our waitress was spacy and didn't seem to care too much about us at all. She must have forgotten our order all together because we ended up having to go up to the bar and ordering a bottle. The bartend-ress was very helpful in picking out our bottle and very attentive. The show was awesome and the food was great too, the only downside was being there for almost an hour completely ignored and forgotten at our table. The guy behind the bar was very talkative and sweet and really made up for our neglectful waitress earlier. We will definitely return to the Boom Boom Room however we'll be sure not to sit at a table, but instead go up to the bar.

Sizzle fizzles. Living down the street from the Boom Boom Room on Yale St. has it's ups and downs. But when we took a client there as a get-away in the middle of a project we felt snubbed. Like one of the other posters mentioned the service was self-destructive. We wanted to perk the client a little and we thought the Boom Boom Room would be great: close, small and a wine list.

The selections on the menu were underwhelming and after depositing the menu the waitress never returned! She just looked at us from the bar. With a total of 5 other patrons in the Boom Boom Room it wasn't as if she was working herself to tip heaven.

So we departed to the excellent little liquor store next door, dropped a couple hundred on our selections and had a great time on our deck. We returned to the project with an inspired flair and a new perspective on that neighbor, the Boom Boom Room.

Hip + Cool Meets Bothered Waitstaff. My sweetie and I met a friend here on a Saturday evening. The parking lot was cool and spacious (rare in Houston), and the inside was groooovy! I loved it immediately. I used to live near the Heights, and I know how lacking the area had been in cool, fun places to go. Unfortunately, the staff was preparing for a large group of folks, and the waitresss/bartender basically blew the three of us off. She acted put-out and didn't pick up our friend's empty champagne glass or clear our empty (plastic) cheese plate. What's sad is, had they been friendlier, we would've drank more than one glass of wine each, and we would've eaten dinner there, but we left after the first drink. The atmosphere was so cool, but it was ruined by bad service. I hate it when that happens.

Jackie and Wally got it right.. good place to meet and greet..since the first time I went I was hooked. great diversity of age mix (imagine that!), artsy, distinctively authentic, lay back Euro feel, sophisticated funky and VERY clean..no skanky PinSol smell that covers a host of bad scents. Real flowers. You can talk without screaming over ultra loud music..Unpretentious friendly staff and patrons. Good food and wine where I discovered Graham Beck Pinotage. .I drive from Montrose/Richmond. I'll be back!!
