“We made an affordable offer in compromise which I was pleased to see was approved after some IRS negotiations on his part.”

January 10, 2013

My wife was being audited by IRS for years starting 2008. We got a bill in and they were requesting her to pay a lot of money, over $10,000 which we couldn't afford. We are poor people. This happened before we got married. She used to have her taxes done by a member of her family and we think they were done improperly with some stuff counted as deductions when they were in fact non deductible.

This went on for a couple of years until we got married, and the numbers piled up, at least that's what the IRS told us. So we decided to hire profesional help and eventually went for Joe's firm after going through a number of other people who didn't insipire enough confidence in us.

Ever since, we managed to settle with the IRS and we are still working on tying up a bunch of other loose ends and making sure we don't have any other outstanding problems that could come back and haunt us in the future. We're working with Joe solving this and so far we're very satisfied with his help and the valuable advice he has provided us with.

Going forward as a newlywed couple it is our primary concern now to make sure that this doesn't occur again and we know how to do things right from now on. I want to make sure with the new purchase of our home, our combined investments, IRAs, 401k, tuition/education, that we are properly filing our taxes and we don't end up having unpleasant surprises in a couple of years from now. And we're happy that not only we solved our current situation, but we're also getting professional counseling for our future.

I'm confident we'll be turning to Joe's firm to handle our taxes from now on to avoid any more problems.

P.S. Also, personally I've learned a lot by myself just reading Joe's website. That's how we decided to use his services in the first place, I need more education on the tax system at least to understand how to file my taxes and why certain things are taxed the way they are, and how to protect myself from making stupid mistakes, so I first came upon Joe's site, and then showed it to my wife and both agreed he's the guy to hire. So I highly recommend that before you decide who to hire, you go over Joe's website taxproblem and educate yourself, best make an informed decision!

We maintain a great reputation as an experienced professional

CPA firm in Houston.

We have strong internal procedures to resolve client issues immediately to avoid complaints.

This Michael V. comment appears to be phoney.

We do not have a client with that name. We do not have a client that looks like that picture.

We do not represent taxpayers in tax court.

Usually when someone trys to slander us there are obvious lies, such as the following.

"according to the Chief counsel of the IRS damaged my chances because the CPA agreed for me to submit more information which shouldnt have according to Portia Rose, IRS chief councel."

As CPA's we can't agree to anything in court. We are not attorneys and not licensed to practice in tax court.

At best we can assist the taxpayer at putting together info to present to the court, as we occasionally do.

We are not allowed to address the court in any manner.

As we continue to increase market share locally, we expect competitors to write phoney complaints.

We continue to maintain an A+ BBB rating after over 30 years as a CPA firm.

We always strive to meet our customer's needs solving IRS problems many other representatives fail to do.

Please visit our site for valuable free information and feel free to "check us out" on the web.

Then, give us a call and see how our unique solutions can benefit you.

You will be glad you did.

I owed the IRS around 100k for a business which the IRS wasnt allowing any of my deductions, I was begining my day in court at the US IRS court of apeals. My goal was to be able to reduce liability by 30k. I called Joe as a last minute resource thinking they can help me with tax code and maybe some court cases to reference, he mentioned they can do the job and help me without no problem. The CPA which went to the court, mentioned he has never done this before as he has never been to court and in fact according to the Chief counsel of the IRS damaged my chances because the CPA agreed for me to submit more information which shouldnt have according to Portia Rose, IRS chief councel. I ultimately settled with the IRS with no help from Joe. I understand it is my error for hiring his team but if this was not bad enough, he charged an additional $500 to my credit card and increased the actual hours served. I highly recommend to everyone not to use him. When his own staff tells me, Joe is only about the bottom line, you know something is wrong. I will be making a BBB complaint as well and once i have a reference number will post on here as an update.

Joe's Expertise Saved Me. Don't underestimate the value of Joe's experience, personal contacts within the IRS, and dedicated service. My wife and I Owed over 1 Million, I hadn't filed taxes for 10 years. Self-employed, married. Had1 bad year, didn't file because I couldn't pay. That started the cycle. The stress was unbelievable. To make matters worse, I listened to the TV commercials, you know, pennies on the dollar. Well, Joe will give it to you straight even if it isn't what you want to hear. It is a long, drawn-out process, and you REALLY need an expert to handle. It was very complicated how to manuever around the offer/rejection/appeals process, my initial offer in compromise was badly rejected. The TV commercials are just trying to lure you in, they don't prepare you for the ture process. In the end we paid about 12% of what was owed, and I got the letter today from the IRS thanking me - amazingly nice letter. They seemed ready to string me up when this whole process started a few years ago, you can imagine how the IRS was treating me after ducking, dodging, and ignoring them for 10+ years. I see one of the negative reviews below complaining about having to do work itemizing receipts, etc. They are not offering to be your full-service accounting firm, IMHO, you will still need to do most of the leg work. Joe & Sherry will be doing my taxes forever, this was a life-altering experience, and one of the best decisions I've ever made.

Note from the President:. Not only do we have over 30 years experience representing taxpayers before the IRS, an A+ BBB rating, and are a licensed professional CPA firm, but.....

We have turn key systems in place every step of the way to insure that your tax returns and case are handled systematically, not missing any deadlines and contacts with you or the IRS!

Very Professional Staff. Found this firm through Joe's website and hired them to handle my very messy tax situation. IRS had my account frozen, they said we had back taxes due. All my old paperwork was lost a few years ago during a fire we had at the business and the damage eventually forced us to close down. Recently we got jobs & were trying to pay on our bills, when the IRS did that to us. We went through an audit, and a lot of trouble last year. Me and the wife both have health problems and really couldn't handle all this stress anymore.

On top of all things, we made some poor choices in the past and hired bad help, had a young inexperienced lawyer trying to help us out with the IRS, and the only thing he did was to get us into more trouble. At least we put a stop to it and fired him before it could get entirely out of control.

When I first saw Joe's videos on his site, I felt a sense of confidence that he knew what he was talking about, so that's why we hired him. When we visited his office in Houston everyone was nice to us and we were assured that they will do whatever they can to clear up the mess we were in, and told us that contrary to popular belief, the IRS can be reasoned with if you know how to approach them correctly. In the past coupled of months since we hired Joe's firm we've managed to get the IRS to talk to us and negociate a settlement.

This is still hard for us but at least we're clear with the IRS now, and we can move on with our lives, both me and the wife are over 50 and don't have the energy to deal with such stress anymore, we're just thankful we found Joe and that they managed this critical situation for us.

Friendly staff... slow work. We've just been audited by the IRS and silly me, represented ourselves at the audit. Now we have a bill of over $100k and we just don't have the time to sort through all the receipts and records. After reading the reviews, we went with Joe. They charge a $300 upfront fee just to talk and see if they can help us, which I wasn't happy with, but I paid. Then we didn't meet Joe himself, we saw one of his colleagues instead. He was very reasonable about what we can expect and told us our best bet is to file an appeal. So we agreed and left our files in his hands. 2 weeks later, we found that they're trying to put together my receipts and files to re-submit to the same auditor! When I inquired about the appeal, the paralegal told me that re-submitting to the auditor is the next step and this is what they're doing. I wasn't too happy, but I went along with it. They're the CPA, so they know what they're doing, right? Anyway, another 2 weeks later and several phone calls, I'm finally getting a long list from the paralegal asking me to put together a spreadsheet of my expenses and receipts and telling me that the auditor was being generous and that I am lucky I'm only fined $100k. Meanwhile, they're already racked up over $1700 in charges to my account. Not sure how you would take this, but we decided to go with an IRS lawyer instead.

I do have to say, the staff there are very friendly and seem sincere in wanting to help. Their rates are also fairly reasonable. When we did speak with the associate, he was helpful in explaining what we can expect during the audit process. Maybe because it's tax time, but I do feel that they were slow in working my file. It shouldn't take a month for them to just go through the audit report and then after $1700 in fees, ask ME to put together a list of my expenses and organize my receipts. But then again, that's just me. I expect more service with my money.

GOOD HELP. Been using this firm for 2 years now and they always came through for us. Our business runs smoother now that we don't have to worry about any tax problems.

Their website is a valuable source of information on many tax subjects, found it very useful for my own personal dealings with the IRS.

Straight 5 star service if you ask me!

saved my home. Earlier this year I was shocked to find out that my husband was in deep trouble with the IRS. We've been living separated for the last year but we were still legally married. He was the one who moved out of the house, so one day I get a notice from the IRS about them levying some of our properties, including the house where I was living in. You can imagine my shock, I had no idea we owed any taxes.

I was so mad, but managed to clear my head enough to figure I'm never gonna get the whole truth out of George so I decided to follow my own best interest and protect myself from whatever he got himself into. I was also afraid I'm going to loose my home and everything I worked for to the IRS.

I did a lot of research over the Internet and finally came upon Joe Matriano's website, and read his innocent spouse advice, which convinced me I needed to hire his professional services.

It turns out my husband was in much bigger trouble than I imagined, but luckily most of that trouble he "earned" before we got married so Joe managed to save part of our commonly owned assets, including my home which was that only thing I really cared about.

Needless to say that the next thing I did was to get a proper divorce as fast as possible, and I haven't been in contact with George ever since, I'm just happy I got to keep my home and that I can move on with my life.

So I want to thank Joe and everyone in his firm for being so helpful and understanding with me, I sincerely recommend them to anyone going through any kind of tax or IRS problems.

good services. Me and my wife used Joe's services for the first time about 8 years ago when we got married. None of us really knew much about taxes and after we married we decided we were going to let a professional put together and file our joint return. Joe came with high recommendations from a common friend, actually it was my wife's brother, he had a small business at that time and handled all his tax issues through Joe. A few years back, me and the wife started our own business online, and again we turned to Joe's firm for assistance since many of his clients are small businesses just like ours. Joe has been an important part of our financial security for all these years and he helped us in more ways that I can imagine. We are all ok with our taxes, and in good standing with the IRS both as a family and with our business which has been picking up. If you are in need of a true tax professional to help you out in any matters of taxes or the IRS, give Joe a call and you won't be disappointed.
