Editorial Review for Glass Wall – by Andrea Loera

In Short
Co-owner and Chef Lance Fegen (formerly of Zula and Trevisio) built the restaurant around his love of surfing. Decorated in neutral shades, a centerpiece glass wall separates the open kitchen from the main dining room. The uncomplicated bistro-style menu is constantly changing and reflects in-season items and fresh flavors. Wine by the glass is suggested for the majority of menu items reflecting the emphasis on relevant wine pairings.

This is my favorite place to eat in all of Houston. The atmosphere is very easy going and funky. The wine list is amazing, with funky quotes and life thoughts from the general manager at the top of the page. These change periodically, as does the menu. The seasonal changes in the menu mean something new to try everytime we go. The food iteself is amazing, the best food I've had yet in Houston. Lance, the chef, makes some amazing creations that are perfectly cooked and paired with the side dishes. I highly recommend the wine pairings that come with the meal, they are perfectly matched. I am throughly impressed with the food, service, and atmosphere everytime I eat here. Great place for a date, or to catch up with old friends.

Pros: Great food and wine pairings

Cons: Can get loud when crowded

Went to Glass Wall on Saturday with no reservation. Waited in the bar and ate a crabcake till a table opened up. Place was buzzin'. A blonde surfer girl helped us in the bar and the dining room. I think my girlfriend was jealous. We had the pork entree and wahoo special. Very tasty. Wine pairings on the menu a nice touch. Coming back next week with my parents WITH a reservation. Highly recommend it!

Pros: Great food, wine pairings, easy going atmosphere

Cons: Not open for lunch
