A beautiful Time Machine. So, I turned into the parking space and gazed suspiciously at the black awning. I'd only recently heard about the cool spot to have an amazing spot of tea. I walked in and almost immediately, I was transported back to Cupertino, CA-to the little cafe where I'd spend most of my time away from school.

Just like my old college hang-out, Té's ambiance is one of old country comfort. As I approached the counter, the waitress greeting me with a smile while taking chocolate cookies of a baking pan and into its display cage. Instantly, I knew I would like spending some time in this place. I ordered the Quiche Delight and for my tea, an African Dark.

The tea came first and it was delightful! As it seeped at my table, the aroma of mango and other exotic spices bathe my nostrils. I tasted the tea and was pulled back to my days on the West Coast of Africa...to a little country called Liberia. The flavors mixed beautifully well with my zucchini quiche. All in all, my experience at Té was a wonderful one. I will not only go back, but I encourage you to go yourselves and discover what exotic places you could travel to while at Té House of Tea.

good snacking stop. Free WIFI!! Nice ambien catered to students. Not enough electric outlet though. The food selection is largely health-veggie-organic concious. The portions are slim so beware. Nothing spectacular about the sweets, but the tea selection is the best in town! Order do tend to take a while to arrive and it is not easy to find parking in the neighborhood. The quinoa salad and the curry chicken salads are very good. Suggest for management to bring rice and noodle bowls to lunch hour too, because healthy eating demand a full mid-day meal!!

Worst Customer Service I've ever experienced - EVER!. I've seen this place so many times and I finally decided to stop in. Almost all the tables were taken by computer users, but that didn't bother me because I was in a hurry. I ordered a Chai Tea , to-go, and paid $5.41 for it (ouch).

I drove down the block when I tasted the tea and decided it wasn't the tea for me. It had an overly strong ginger flavor that I didn't care for. I went back to the House of Tea and I told the young girl behind the counter that I would like a different tea because I didn't care for mine. She said she couldn't do anything about it because she thought “it would be a health code violation.” Excuse me?! LOL! When a customer is dissatisfied with your product you actually tell them that? “Well,” the young girl said, “I don’t think she’ll do anything about it”. Who “she” was, I had no idea. The owner I guessed. The young girl disappears and an older Asian woman comes to the counter in a funny red hat and asked me what the problem was. I explained to her that I had just ordered the Chai tea and I didn't care for it and that I'd like to exchange it for something else. The lady proceeds to tell me that the Chai tea is their best seller, I ordered it, and there was nothing she was going to do about it. It was my fault for ordering it. WOW. I couldn't believe my ears. I left the tea on the counter and walked out.

Excellent teahouse in the Montrose area.. Stopped in here on a Tuesday evening at the recommendation of a friend. Definitely a gem of a find in the Montrose area where I was able to enjoy a delicious African black tea brew that had delightfully unique mango and coconut taste. I will definitely try to make it here back soon to get my tea on!

Tea and tango. When I discovered that this unsuspecting tucked-away tea house hosted Friday night milongas, I had to come immediately. The dancing reportedly started at 9pm but when we arrived the place was deserted. Since it was an unusually cold night for Houston I thought that perhaps the weather had scared away the dancing. I asked the young girl behind the counter if indeed, there would be tango dancing and she confirmed that dancers would arrive soon. While she was nice enough, she gave off the air that she wanted to be somewhere else.

I was happy to wait over a pot of hot tea and a bowl of soup to warm up. The tea menu is vast and almost intimidating. I ordered the Turkish Delight Chai, being a fan of both chai and Turkish teas, and the pumpkin soup. The soup was clearly homemade and tasted of fresh ingredients but in short, it tasted overtly of healthy. While I do not insist that foods be drenched in fat or sugar to taste good, I believe that lighter dishes must be properly seasoned or end up lacking in flavor. Pumpkin is one of those dishes that can be excellent with the right herbs and spices or brutally bland when lacking. This can be remedied a bit by some maple syrup or cream, but this soup offered a few sparse croutons as its only offerings of indulgence.

As for the tea, it was, well just tea. The fireworks, it appeared, are reserved solely for the dancing. And fireworks they were! The rowdy tango crowd exploded into Te just past 10pm, invigorating space with sexy vibratos, sultry leg swishing and the lusty closeness of the tango; all of it complimented by the loose warmth that only a $3 corkage fee on BYOB can produce in a restaurant setting. Indeed, a few bottles of wine soon opened at nearly every table. We found much of the crowd to be regulars who had taken tango classes together or closely followed the local ballroom dance scene. My boyfriend and I, who have never taken dance classes, made an attempt to dance and though we managed to weave through the tight circle and had a wonderful time, we were a bit shamed by the skillful movement that surround us.

Pre-tango, I doubt I would have given Te a second chance, but the vitality of the crowd tells me that there must be more to the place. I will certainly attend another Friday milonga and try a few other items on the menu.

You call this a tea house?. I liked my lunch...but the tea was awful! It was not brewed correctly and did not taste fresh. The whole place needs a good cleaning. I will go there for food but never again for tea. My silk oolong brewed too long. Get those leaves out of the teapot as well!

Not just tea but great food too. We have visited the Te before and enjoyed their tea and scone selection (My husband is English and likes his cupper). This visit we we ate lunch and were delighted to learn the extent of their food menu. The chicken salad was tasty and pretty to the eye and my husband enjoyed his sandwich. We will be back for lunch when we come to town!

Wonderful tea house, great tea. A great local tea house that carries a wide selection of delicious tea. A very calm environment that is service oriented. This kind of tea house cannot be found in the suburbs (e.g., Sugar Land). A unique experience. A Bohemian kind of atmosphere - not your typical Texas prissy tea house for ladies in red hats. This tea house reminds me of the tea and coffee houses in the Village in NYC.

Wonderful experience!. I have visited Te House of Tea often on my way home from work and I have never been disappointed. The people behind the counter are always helpful - even on my first visit when I had no idea what I wanted. Everyone seems very knowledgeable about tea and they were able to answer any questions I asked. The food is delicious! I especially like their crepes- I have tried both the sweet and savory ones and they are both wonderful. The atmosphere is perfect for a quick quiet evening meal. I am constantly suggesting this place to my friends and all of them have found it just as wonderful as I have.

Ok restaurant and not so good tea house. I was dubious about this shop due to the not glowing reviews but decided to see for myself. It was mediocre at best. The food was OK but the tea was awful. It was not brewed properly and the staff was less than friendly. It looked like a neighborhood hang out place which would explain why they might still be in business. In these bad economic times good service is a must!
