AWESOME Fish Tacos and service. what a delicious experience at Alamo Joes in the woodlands! the fish was grilled to perfection and i love love their salsa! They have a very cool dining room in the back with movies for the kids. Will be back for happy hour in their separate bar area.
BEST IN THE WOODLANDS-Great Patio, Bar, Food, Service.
I live and work in the Woodlands and this Place is the Best. They have bright colored chairs throughout the dining area with covered string lights that hang from the ceiling, They even built a replica of the Alamo inside the restaurant which looks awsome, (for their private dining room), and makes you feel like your eating in a small courtyard in San Antonio.
The last time we were there, my wife and I enjoyed a couple Mango Margaritas while the kids, (when they weren't in the restaurants gameroom), had their kids quesadillas while watching a Disney movie that was playing on their projector screen in "The Alamo Room".
We had a nice meal together and enjoyed Great Food, Excellent Service, and at a Price that was right. It always has been good for us.
You should also check out the bar before you leave which is now seperate from the dining room. They have several Big Screen TV's, Golden Tee machines, Good Music, and of course, the Frozen Drink Specials. The Bartenders are friendly and attentive and they really know the menu well. Its not just your typical TexMex with Fajitas, (which are great), and Enchiladas, but they also have Ribs, Giant Wings, Jalapeno Sausage, Fish Tacos (what they are known for), and even Chicken Fried Steak. They refer to this as their "Texican Food."
If the weather is nice, we also love to go there to just sit on their private patio, have our chips & salsa, and enjoy our meal or just a couple of drinks together. Because its a neighborhood place, no one tries to hurry us out.
If you live in the Woodlands or are in the Woodlands area, you have got to check out Alamo Joes. Its much better than the chains and not your typical TexMex restaurant or Taqueria. Its kid friendly but fun for the adults, just as it should be. We can't wait to go back.
THIS BAR ROCKS!!!!!.
Looking for a good place to watch the game??? Look no further than Alamo Joes in the Cochrans Crossing Shopping Center. I went in with my wife the other night, we haven't been in a while because of the poor service we experienced before BUT the food was good so we came back for another chance. I noticed that they enclosed the bar so we decided to sit there because the Rockets game was on. A bartender named David was quick to greet us, he was very personable and knowledgable about the menu.
We decided to eat light and have a few drinks, David recommended the Appetizer Sampler Platter...he praised the "new" Shrimp Brochette. He also said they had the best kept secret in The Woodlands...THE WINGS! I've had wings all over The Woodlands and I agreed with him, they are awesome! I washed the food down with a huge mug of Dos XX Equis and my wife had a top shelf margarita. We had a great time...I will definetly be back!
A Bad Week. Hmmm..... this was once my favorite restaurant for Mexican food in The Woodlands. Great hot sauce, excellent green sauce, very good chalupas. The last three trips (we average eating there at least twice a week) have been very disappointing. The sauce quality has gone down, the green sauce is out, and the tamales were 90% masa and only a dash of meat. The cheese enchiladas are not bad, but then those are hard to do wrong. Either the previous chef packed up and left or they quit using fresh ingredients. I'll keep an eye on this one (won't be going back for a while) and post any updates.
Excellent well margaritas to go with excellent food. Since they added new things to the menu, this place is better. The fajitas are excellent, with or without their various toppings or added ingredients. The new Joe's Salad (fajita salad) is EXCELLENT when served with spring mix. Ordering a side of guacamole to add makes it top notch. The ribs are VERY spicy but good if you like spicy ribs, and the grilled shrimp dishes also excellent. Sunday mornings there's a popular buffet style brunch and there are mucho TV's scattered throughout to watch any sports you want. An extra dining room accommodates private parties or overflow seating with a HUGE theater screen on its back wall. Service used to be slow at times because there was not enough waitstaff, but that problem seems to be gone now, so there's regular & consistently excellent service now. An outdoor covered seating patio has heaters for cold weather and large cooler fans when it's hot outside. Just make sure the waitstaff knows you're outside because they don't always look outside for customers. Have recommended this place to many, and their business appears to have increased significantly since they upgraded their menu - at least at the times we've been there.
Tasty fajitas!. We went over to the Woodlands to check out the new Town Center and ended up eating here because it was recommended by some friends that live in the Woodlands. Obviously Houston has a bazillion Mexican restaurants, but I really liked this one. The atmosphere was fun and the food was really good. I'm picky about fajitas but theirs were really good. Next time we're in the area we'll definitely be going back!
Great for Kids. This is a nice place to go with your Kids. They have live music on the weekends. They have good beef fajitas. It is pretty good average mexican food. Of course there is better, but if you just want to eat someplace without a huge crowd with your kids it's the place to go. The prices are good too. It's also locally owned and operated.
I'm sorry to say this. We love Mexican food and were so excited about another new restaurant opening in The Woodlands. However, the food here is not that good, salsa is very indifferent and chips just okay. Decor is average. We were really disappointed and probably won't be back.
Tex-Mex joint provides family-friendly atmosphere and potent 'ritas..
In Short
This festive and bustling restaurant inside the Cochran's Crossing Shopping Center serves up generous portions of Tex-Mex classics for a mixed crowd of young families and folks enjoying a cocktail or two on the patio. Start your meal off with fresh salsa and crisp chips and peruse the menu of fajitas, enchiladas, tacos and combination plates. Expect crowds of locals with frosty margaritas in hand for the daily happy hour specials (from 3pm to 7pm).
