Terrible Customer Service. My family and I frequent Japanese restaurants regularly and have come to expect a certain quality of service that most Japanese restuarant owners pride themselves on. We were completely shocked by the poor service we received. After being seated at the hibachi table, our server asked if we would be ordering anything from the hibachi grill. We told him we would only be eating sushi and he removed our plates and silverware. We then promptly ordered our waters and sushi rolls. When the server brought out the first of the sushi rolls, he did not bring any chopsticks or plates. We sat looking around for 10 minutes before I finally became so frustrated that I grabbed a bus boy by the arm and asked him to please bring us some chopsticks and plates. The rest of the sushi was brought to us sometime later but we had no napkins and empty water glasses. So I asked the same bus boy for some napkins and he helped us out again. The sushi itself was nothing special. I have eaten sushi buffet that tasted better. Once we were done eating, we waited another 10 minutes for our server to show his face so that we could ask for the check. After giving him the credit card, the server brought it to the register up front. We waited for 10 minutes but he never brought the credit card and reciept back! My wife had to get up and flag down the server and ask him where her credit card was. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. The service at Samurai was hands down the worst service I've ever received at ANY restaurant!
Great Japanese Sushi!!. This is the best japanese restaurant that I've been to. I am from Japan, so I am really picky about the original japanse food. I really don't like americanized japanse food as much.... Especially I was amazed is the people that work at the restaurant is reallly friendly and remember you. Most of the server have worked there for since they are open, so I am really comfortable going over there. If you get to know them more, they will let you try new things on the house... I really love the sushi. They have own special rolls that really good, and also their special drinks. All the sushi men have experienced for a long time, so they are wonderful and beautiful like an art. If you have any kids, they will love it. My kids want to go there every week. They have kids menu under 8 dollars so it's really reasonable price. I love the happy hour. They have lots of fresh fish. They also have a party room and has a door, so it's good have a birthday party or something... Just try it! That's all I can say it. It's worth it:)
Family-friendly Japanese hibachi restaurant also offers quality sushi for Clear Lakers..
The Scene
A rather unassuming exterior inside a bustling strip mall gives way to a crisp and welcoming dining room. The wraparound sushi bar dominates the front area with a few small tables reserved for sushi diners. A dozen hibachi grills comprise the rest of the space, which is not entirely conducive to quiet conversation once the chefs get cooking, but fun nonetheless.
The Food
The hibachi menu offers up the usual choices of filet mignon, chicken, beef and shrimp, with requisite flaming onion volcanoes, but it's the sushi offerings here that shine. Ask one of the chefs for the day's special, from escolar to whole scallop, or select from the varied sushi and sashimi menu. Rolls are expertly prepared and feature some original creations. Above-average tempura, crisp seaweed salad and dumplings form the ideal accompaniment. Noodle bowls, soups, teriyakis and familiar Japanese dishes round out the menu.
Great sushi. Great sushi is now in clear lake area. There are a handful of other japanese resturants on bay area but this place burns the competition away. this place is high recommended for sushi or hibachi food.
another sushi place to try in the SE. i can't get over how many sushi places has taken storm in the SE side, and this restaurant is probably one of the better ones, too. the ambience is nothing spectacular. there's no special features or hype that seperates them from any other sushi place. the decor is much to be desired of ... it doesn't offer that cozy, laid-back, romantic feel ... the vastness of this place is begging to be filled with a personal touch. although, they do have happy hour and you can't go wrong with that. the sushi quality is decent, i've tried better in the greater houston metropolitan area, but at least the sushi isn't falling apart. *
New Japanese Kid In Town. Look out everyone, there's a new Japanese steakhouse in H-Town, and it is taking no prisoners! ......God, we love this place. It has only been open two or three months, and we have already dined here a half-dozen times or so. They have the best sushi in town, and a great variety of japanese dinners and wines on the menu, that can abide any budget. Try the "Crunch Maki Roll," rolled with shrimp tempura, crab, spicy mayo, seaweed, and sesame. It is absolutely delicious. The vegetable tempura appetizer, St. Jean Chardonnay, and hot variety of dinnners all cooked at your table, are all wonderful. I highly recommend Samurai's.
