In Short – An inviting environment offers options of two rooms: one for lounging by the fireplace on the couch, the other for more raucous bar games such as pool and darts. A laid-back and affable staff make ordering drinks at the bar a welcome pleasure. Though within walking distance to many neighborhood venues, many beers from which to choose on tap and homemade pizza encourage a lengthy visit.

UNFRIENDLY, PHYSICALLY AGRESSIVE STAFF!!!

by billyloon

I used to be a big fan of this place until my last visit there. I showed up with a few friends for a nightcap at around 1:40am, 20 minutes before closing time. We ordered drinks and within 1 minute the lights were on and they were herding people out. A large, ugly, very unintelligent, blonde-haired meathead bouncer walked up to me and told me to chug my beer. I told him that we'd just bought these drinks not more than 1 minute ago. He told me a second time to chug my beer. I asked him why they sold us these drinks if they weren't going to give us a few minutes at least to drink them. He told me to chug my beer again or else he would take it. I told him I wasn't chugging it and to get a manager if he had a problem with it. Then he grabbed my hands, bent back my thumb and put me in some sort of hold that he apparently learned watching WWE when he isn't bouncing at The Tipsy Clover. (I think he also is fond of touching other men.) Then he told one of the rent-a-cops to escort me out of the bar. 2 days later I went to the doctor for x-rays because I thought my thumb was broken. I tried calling and emailing The Tipsy Clover. No one ever returned my calls or emails. I thought about just sending them the medical bill, and I still might. I have no desire to ever go back to this bar again. There are so many other places to go where you won't be physically assaulted by the barstaff. Try The Red Door right next door, the staff there are great! Don't waste your time at The Tipsy Clover.

  • Pros: Most of the staff is friendly
  • Cons: The blonde-haired, gay bouncer totally ruins the place

LOVE THIS PLACE

by parteegrn

I absolutely love Tipsy Clover!! The door guy is friendly and always let my friends and I in. We don't know his name but we never have to wait in line =). The bartenders are fast and the music they play is good. I actually think they have better music spinning than some of the clubs around there. the people that go there are very friendly and down to earth. none of those pretentious people u would find at esco or the drake etc.

bald guy needs to go

by slimjim2100

I've been to this place numerous times and the last time I tried going the bald guy at the door didn't let us in because of god knows what reason. I happened to be with a new set of friends that night which I recommended to this place and the bald guy didn't let us in. My guess was because of the crowd I was with. They were all minorities. Nonetheless apart from the guys up front, this bar is one of my favorites because of the music. Just hope you don't get counted out based on who you're with.
