Editorial Review for The Tipsy Clover – by Emily Hilton

In Short
An inviting environment offers options of two rooms: one for lounging by the fireplace on the couch, the other for more raucous bar games such as pool and darts. A laid-back and affable staff make ordering drinks at the bar a welcome pleasure. Though within walking distance to many neighborhood venues, many beers from which to choose on tap and homemade pizza encourage a lengthy visit.

Let me start out by saying that the first time I went to this place my friends and I had a great time. We had been rejected from Red door on my female friends birthday on some bulls@*t and the manager(owner?) some bald buy heard our story let us in and even bought us a round of shots. We are all minorities, law students, and good looking, well dressed folks. I went to Tipsy about two weeks ago with a group of friends all minorities, law students and we were flatly rejected. I was laging behind my friends and as I saw them walk up to the line the bald guy signaled the doorman not to let my friends in after one of my friends (asian dude) had already walked through the door when he was grabbed by the arm and told he could not come in and the rest of us were subsequently rejected after that. The bar was not crowded, there was no line. I am a former bouncer myself back in Arizona so I know the game when I see it. Regrettably, I have been complicit in the same type of behavior at the request of my boss when I was a bouncer. I guess I just expected more from my previous experience there. I would caution minorities (blacks folks especially) not to go, however I dont think they want us there anyways. So heres to Midtown, "Color free since at least '03"

I love this Bar! It might have something to do with the fact that my best friend is a bar tender (AMY), but this bar would be awesome non-the less. The staff, atmoshphere, and social scene are all great. Be careful though, cause if you show up after 12 you might have to wait in line. Still its a great bar!!!! And the girls are HOT!!!!!
