“While Ra's sublime cinnamon tempura ice cream is delicious and large enough to be shared by a table of 6, I could have finished off Sage 400's tempura ice cream dish on my own inside 2 minutes.”

We order to go:
Himachi Carpaccio
Spicey Tuna roll
Yellow tail & scalion roll
dynamite roll
rainbow roll
tiger eye roll
quality of the food was fair, however, the quantity for the price was really disappointing. Normally this would be too much for 2 people. Well not at all, we had to end up with leftover pizza. Come on, and $72 ??? And to top it off, no chopsticks! Right, a sushi place, to go, no chopsticks, come on. We wont be going there again, thats for sure!
Best sushi in town? If you haven't been, hurry!. A world traveller in many ways, I try, and eat, sushi almost everywhere I go. It is hard to better the Sage400 offering. Either if you try the Chef's Sushi or Sashimi special, or just some of the innovative and interesting rolls, you will want to go back for more. My current "thing" at Sage400 is to taste all the staff's "special rolls", they all have them, and they're on par with what's already on the menu. Aaah, and I almost forgot, the people there are just great. Whether you sit at the sushi bar and talk to the Chefs, at the bar-bar with Tara and Rocco, or anywhere on the floor, you will get all smiles from attentive and passionate staff. If you have not ever been there, u should go. If you have not been there in a while, shame on you.
Unique Sushi- & Comfortable!. I've been to nobu in L.A. and NY, Tao, Uptown Sushi, and many sushi places in major cities/ that are well known. However, the sea bass at 400 Sage is untouchable. It is delectable. Simple as that. I am pretty critical, and I give 400 Sage 100 + points in the respect of BEING ORIGINAL! If I see a roll from 400, it won't take long to guess where it's from. When you have a taste of 400 Sage , you just know it's from there. It is unique, cozy, and fun. I LOVE it, and I even get sea bass with drawls.
My version of Japan in TX. Sage 400 gives me my own bite of Japan, without actually leaving America. I enjoy eating the nicely made sushi and the different flavors. The place was very clean, with the servers very attentive and respectful. Will definitely be back for more.
Nice place!.
My boss gave me a gift certificate for Sage 400. I took my friend on a Friday night for sushi and it was nice.
The place is pretty and it had a nice crowd. The sushi is average and the prices are high for what you get. I will say the service was good and it is very clean!
Good food at a decent price. Overall I was pleasantly surprised with this Japanese food restaurant. The quality of the food is definitely there and the prices really are very reasonable.
Enjoyable. I recently tried Sage 400.It was very enjoyable dining at this restaurant. We liked the taste of the food since it was full of flavors. We had one of their best-sellers and it was indeed awesome. The service crew was very friendly, but the service was not prompt. Nevertheless, we still enjoyed our visit. We would definitely go back.
I find this place to be OK.
I checked out some of the reviews others wrote, and this is in response to them.
First, I find this place just fine -- I think that you should go if you want because people's tastes vary. Some folks like this place, while others find it to be just OK.
Here's the thing, and we need to be honest: sushi and other Japanese fare in Houston is, for the most part, a bit Americanized--and that's putting it lightly. A true connoisseur won't find this place satisfying, but let's be honest, there aren't many places on in Houston that a sushi connoisseur would, and we're talking about more expensive places here anyways.
So that being said, I just question both the negative and positive comments, which on the one hand claim you need to go somewhere else for real Japanese food, and on the other, claim that the food here is top-notch. I find it to be just fine.
Not great, but just alright..
Me and a few of my friends were looking for a place to eat for dinner to catch up since we haven't seen each other for such a long period of time.
I heard about Sage 400 from a few of my friends, and I haven't heard any complains from them so I decided to try it out since my friends were craving for some Japanese cuisines.
Sadly, it did not meet any of my expectations. The food was okay.... the server had an attitude problem, and the service was slow...
I'm not a big judgmental person, I believe on a second chance so I can always give it a try sometime again, but only if a friend wanted to go because I would not even bother going to this place myself because I will feel like it will only be a waste of money. I hope it be a better experience for others..
Hosts needs to be more courteous or at least, professional. No matter how good and/or how fresh the food is, if the first impression is bad... It will still be thumbs down. We were there on a Saturday evening at around 6. when we arrived, there were almost no one's there. The host simply rejected us for the request of a booth by telling us it was reserved. We left at around 7:30, and none of the booth had hardly anyone been sitting. I could have call my AE concierge and be treated differently, what a snobbish place!
