Editorial Review for Corner Bakery Cafe – by Andrea Loera
In Short
With its prime downtown location, Houston's first Corner Bakery is constantly brimming with office workers. Early birds benefit from healthy breakfast items like egg sandwiches, oatmeal and bagels. Lunchtime offerings include deli sandwiches on fresh made bread, panini, pasta, entree-sized salads and daily soups. Hard to resist cakes, cookies and artisan breads beckon from the deli case. Get it to go or opt for the cozy dining room with wood tables or a spot on the umbrella-shaded outdoor patio.

I saw a review for the Corner Bakery that said bad service as I was looking for directions. I found just the opposite. Not only was the food excellent and reasonably priced (I had the chopped salad), but the service was excellent. The staff was polite and I was treated with a smile from every person who worked there. I have never written a review before, but the servers were so well-mannered, I just had to write to respond to the one-star reviewer who did not like the service. Maybe, that person was a little agitated over not getting their coffee when they ordered it (caffeine dependence does not bring out the best in any of us). Or, maybe this place took note of what was a valid criticism and has done an about-face and made siginficant strides in their customer care. Either way, good food, good service, I will be going back. On the down side, it was a little noisy during lunch, but that all had to do with the fact that so many people apparently agree with my assessment of this restaurant and find this a great place to dine. Nevertheless, I did not find myself yelling to be heard. Just a lot of people chatting and having a good time.
Pros: Good food, great service
Cons: Little noisy at lunch, but not bad, can still easily talk across the table.

Customers are not important to this restaurant!!!! Cashiers have attitude of entitlement! Are also offended if you want something like....uh...well, COFFEE at 7:30 in the morning..... I guess they didn't expect that!! So they didn't make any.
Pros: The food is good if you can tollerate the awful staff!!!
Cons: Cashiers hate their jobs, managers do not care about the restaurant, customers suffer...
