“It's a little bigger, but it still holds the same unique charm and style as its old location.”
“Fantastic bar!”
“The bar staff and mangement are wonderful and always friendly.”
“There's no cover charge and reasonable drink prices.”
Woody is UNpleasant. I have been a patron of Guava Lamp for many years back when the same management was Gentry (I believe that was the name). So it was my surprise that Woody was unfriendly to our group. It was Friday night, and the place was empty! We had a large tab going thanks to Amanda, but when we decided to dance Woody rudely told us to stop. WHAT? The last time I checked this was a neighborhood bar to enjoy music, cocktails, and good service. So my group of 8 friends CLOSED our tab and left and went to another bar. It is sad that the actions of one rude person made 8 people leave. I am sure Amanda was not pleased since our tab would had been much larger hence a larger tip. I love Amanda, James and Frank as they are good friends, but Woody needs to be nice to his loyal patrons.
Citysearch Editorial Review. Tucked away in the back corner of a two-story strip center, this self-proclaimed “video lounge” may serve a clientele of predominantly well-dressed gay men, but the atmosphere is surprisingly nonexclusive. It’s classy without pretension. When the DJ is off-duty, flat screens project entrancing diva-centric music videos from past and present at a volume that’s compatible with conversation. The circular counter surrounds a glowing blue pyramid of liquor bottles and affords multiple access points to fabulous bartenders who are more than willing to whip up special shots for you and your entourage. Thursday night’s drink special, Long Island Iced Tea, is served in a jelly jar and masterfully mixed.
Fantastic bar!.
I must say the new and improved Guava Lamp is better than ever. No cover, parking is free, and the location is easy to get to. The bar staff and mangement are wonderful and always friendly. Even the bathrooms are clean which shows they care about their patrons. This is a great pub to take your out of town friends to, even your happy hour co-workers. The DJ spins good music, and the level of sound will not make your ear drums go thump thump after you leave. I highly recommend this wonderful atomosphere to anyone.
Kuddos and two thumbs up to Guava Lamp!
Great atmosphere!. Great place to hang out and have a few drinks with friends. Laid back and fun atmosphere.
Editorial Review. Gay and lesbian bar with a martini lounge atmosphere, plenty of conversation-friendly spots and a sexy dance floor.
Great lounge and Houston spot.. In its new location, Guava Lamp is better than ever!! It's a little bigger, but it still holds the same unique charm and style as its old location. The bar staff are always helpful and courteous. There's no cover charge and reasonable drink prices. There's a pool table, booths, and a lounge area in the back to just chill. The music always sounds great and there is a great DJ usually spinning great remixes of new and classic songs. Most of all, there is never a bathroom line! It is gay bar, but it doesn't always seem that way because there is a good mix of people. This is a refreshing change to the typical gay bars or the bars downtown where you have to pay for parking (the parking is free). You must check this bar out.
