Houston >Field of Greens
Healthy Food!. I'm not a 100% vegetarian but I am not a meat lover at all, so the first time I tried this place, I had a soy chicken salad and it was delicious. I am not a big fan of chicken, and I hate red meats so having the soy chicken salad hit the spot for me! Not a real meat, but still has that mild chicken taste to it which I love! Staffs are very friendly and kind.
ONE OF THE BEST VEGGIE PLACES IN TOWN!.
I LOVE THIS PLACE! The people are quite friendly and one always feels welcome to linger over the wonderful food. The homemade fries are wonderful and bountiful. The fish tacos are divine--and the garlic sauce is great on everything. The vegan chocolate cake must be experienced to be believed as it is truly sublime. I could go on about everything I've tried here--suffice to say, none of it has disappointed me. The portions are quite generous. Personally, I could eat here everyday and feel good about it!
They should bottle their garlic sauce!
Field of Greens, the best veggie restaurant in the city, you got to try it out !. Field of Greens is the best veggie restaurant in the city, you got to try it out. I recomment it to anyone who is interested in healthy / veggie food without reservation. Even for meat lovers, you won't be disappointed at Field of Greens. Some of my friends and colleagues who are not vegetarians said to me, "Becoming vegetarian will be so easy and enjoyable if I can eat in Field of Greens everyday. You don't have to sacrify.". The food served there are very fresh, healty yet tasty. Soups, salads, burgers (Eden Burger is my favorite), fries (Tofu fries, it's a must try, much more healthier and delicious that regular fries, not greasy at all), fajitas, deserts (without sugars, what a surprise!), soy fish, whole grain organanic toasts .... mmm, yummy! I can't wait to go to Feild of Greens to enjoy my day. They can make verything vegan if you ask.The service is good, staffs are friendly; also the ambient, very cozy. The owner is very creative in making such a wonderful menu of so many selections of veggie food. I wish I can make Field of Greens as my own kitten so that I can eat there everyday :).
One of the best restaurants, whether you are vegetarian or not, you will love it !.
I have visited many cities in the country. As a vegetarian/ vegan for more than 12 years, it's always such a joy and surprise for me to have a good vegetarian restaurant to eat while away from home. *** Field of Greens*** in Houston Texas is really a BIG SURPRISE for me that I will recommend to the vegetarian / vegan community without reservation!
The food (Mexican, Italian, Indian, & Asian food) served in Field of Greens is very healthy yet delicious. They can make everything vegan as long as you ask! Salads are so fresh yet colorful and tasty, soy fish and whole grain bread made my day :), the Tofu fries taste sooooooo good yet not greasy at all, the soups are good, veggie fajitas and the flavor of the wheat roast are so enjoyable.
Succulent healthy food, nice service and cozy atmosphere make it a favorite. While spending my Thanksgiving in Houston, FIELD OF GREENS is a great joy which made the holiday the warmest Thanksgiving I have ever had. I will come to visit it whenever I have a chance to visit Houston in the future. And definitely, I will try out all items on the menu :).
To conclude, Field of Greens in Houston is one of the best restaurants in the country, whether you are vegetarian or not, you will love it !
Not Organic. So, I went to dine at this restaurant after reading about it here, I am a long time (10 yr) vegetarian and was excited about the reviews of it being an organic restaurant. When I walked in I immediately noticed how brightly green it is, ok no problem. I went to the counter to place my order, under the sign that says "order", after looking at the menu board and discussing my options with the girl at the counter, who was very friendly, I decided to order the vegetarian fajitas and a side salad, I think my total was something like $15. I continued to talk to the person behind the counter while my food was being prepared, I asked her where they get their organic produce and she told me, to my surprise, that they do not use organic produce!! I then asked her if anything that I was ordering was organic and she said the tortilla, and the rice. I decided to just sit down and wait for my food to be ready, she brought it out to me and told me to "enjoy". I ate my salad and found that the garlic dressing was too peppery, for it being a garlic dressing they should not overdue it with the pepper. I went on to the fajitas, they where marinated in some tahinni which gave it a good flavor but it was so oily, the fajitas and the peppers on top where drenched in oil, making me wonder what was healthy about that. The beans where dry and flavor less, the only thing that tasted good was the guacamole. I will not be returning to dine here because there are way better places to eat that have vegetarian food that actually has some good seasoning and is reasonably priced.
Tastes good, but not like chicken. Food tastes pretty good, even to someone who likes eating meat (I found this place after searching for a Non-Indian restaurant to take vegetarian friends). Everything is fresh and sandwiches have good bread, lettuce and fixings- you don't end up with a stale tasteless roll and limp piece of iceberg here. Fake fish tacos are a favorite. It's overrated as far as being healthy (fried tofu is still fried, as are the yummy french fries you get with the vegi club sandwiches. Since when is vegetarian food is automatically better for you than food with animal protein?) It's a little overpriced. Plenty of parking.
Love it. Not many vegetarian/vegan restaurants here in Houston, so I'm very happy to have found Field of Greens. They have a great menu, that offers plenty of options (Sandwiches, fajitas, salads, etc). Their food tastes very very fresh and flavorful. You can even make a vegetarian plate "vegan" if you ask. I go here as often as I can and my non-veggie friends even like it. It's a casual, no frills place, and the staff & owner are really friendly. I'd eat here every night if my budget allowed it.
Great tasting food. I have been coming here a lot lately, and plan to go back a lot more! The food is of much variety and taste fantastic! Great service, has a lot of vegan options and the non-vegan options mostly can be made vegan! I wish they served breakfast everyday, it is superb! I plan to try everything on the menu, which is not cool because it is quite expensive there and I am not rich. Some great dishes include the Vegan Fish Taco Platter, Soy Cheese Nachos (cheese is not melted though!), Tempeh B.L.T. Sandwich, Breakfast Taco with the scrambled tofu, soy sausage and pico de gallo, and their Tofu Fries taste better than potato fries! Their avocado and pico de gallo are fresh and great tasting! Everyone should eat here at least twice - they would sure to come back for more!
Best Veggie & Healthy Food in the City. For a vegetarian, vegan or someone who just likes to eat healthy and tasty food, with interesting flavors and ingredients, Field of Greens is a treat. It's little more expensive than some restaurants, but that's because the ingredients are top notch and a lot of care is taken in giving you wholesome food. What to get? The veggie fajitas, the veggie burrito, any of the excellent sandwiches (esp the tabouli avocado sandwich) and soups. Don't hate on it!
I would love to love this place more ....
... but the food seems kind of average. And, it's not even completely vegetarian, as the name would imply. There are some meat offerings -- made me worried if veggies touched the same pan as meat.
The food is okay, for sure, but not great. However, a few menu items I absolutely love: anything with guacamole, for example! Their spinach dishes are excellent - very fresh veggies. Sometimes preparation can be slow.
