Editorial Review for Deco – by Joshua Hinsdale
In Short
A welcome addition to Midtown, DECO opens early as a relaxing coffee shop then transforms each evening into a romantic nightspot. Seating is in a swanky art-deco indoor lounge or on an open-air patio. Whether there for the coffee, tea, wine, or cocktails, patrons appreciate the inviting atmosphere and opportunities to socialize.

022108 I visted Deco w a group of friends, 3 different tabs among us. After a couple of drink requests it was obvious our server was out of her element; taking long amounts of time to return each order & there were less than 15 people. I requested to close my tab early. She returned with 2 checks; not 1 & informed me she didn't know how to process gift cards; gave her my debit card. We found out she was new to bartending. Not at all annoyed by that. We’ve all been new at one time or another & wanting for others to be patient & understanding. The server later came back to tell us she made a mistake. She claimed she placed my order on my on my friends’ tab. On my drive home I remembered my receipt showing “Up to $25 placed on hold” & I know my card # was on the receipt. What did she swipe my card for if she added my drink order to my friend’s tab? When I checked my account there were FOUR$25 items from Deco. Similar issues occurred with my friend's accts as well. 02/25/08 my coworker complained a bar overcharged her. It was DECO! Why didn't she tell me or apologize? There’s NO reason why 4 $25 items should be on my acct. I realize as a business Deco reserves the right to hold $25 for a $7 tab. I can understand making a mistake once, causing 1 $25 authorization, then processing the purchase correctly adding a 2nd $25. I don't understand making the mistake THREE times! This is my checking acct. A total of $100 has been on hold since Thurs & will remain on hold, unavailable to me to spend until Thurs of this week. What if I needed that money? What if I didn’t have the funds available? I could have balanced my acct responsibly & spent accordingly. My bank would charge me an insufficient fee for EACH item, regardless of whether or not those items were authorizations or purchases. Ultimately I would end up paying for a merchant’s mistake. I can’t believe that waitress would allow me to discover this mistake, instead of informing us. BEWARE of DECO and TAKE CASH!
Pros: Quiet enought to talk
Cons: Food not always available

Went here Saturday night with a group of girls and had a lot of fun. The place was moderately packed by the time we arrived (12:30-1:00). No problem getting in, the crowd was fairly diverse, mostly asians and indians. People were nice and I ran into alot of people I knew. Not much dancing going on, more of a lounge area.
Pros: nice decor
