“think they have adaquate parking unless it's a big crowd.”
“The glass decor at the bar is so cool it made you wonder if they really actually use the bottles of liquor that are nicely placed on it.”
“Too packed past mid night. Not after hours. Wish they serve food there.”
“maybe usually not a great place for singles looking to mingle with other singles.”
“congenial bartender, definately a low-key place without a lot of lounge poser types.”
“The jet lounge offers reasonable drink prices a downtown Houston Venue.”
Tell Jet lounge to suck it.. I'm not sure who these scenesters that go here think they know, but this place is lame. The ownership has no idea what their genre is. One night they might have hardcore hip-hop, and the next they have euro-techno. Which leads to the problem, this establishment has ZERO identity. Its almost schizophrenic. I live in the high-rise four blocks away, and as a local I have no interest/respect for the establishment because of the lack of control of the venue. It could easily be either a techno club or hip-hop joint, but you can never really tell what they have planned. If your goal for the night is to be absolutely surprised, and also ripped off by the lack of planning and organization, this is the place. If your want to go to a club with a vibe an atmosphere, go somewhere else.
Completely amazing experience....
I must say, the saturday night I went to Jet Lounge was like being back home in Berlin. I happened upon the place while visiting houston for business and was told by the hotel staff that this place is where the real underground dance-techno crowd converges. Boy, they were not kidding! I could not believe the caliber of the DJ that was playing (I beleive it was Konrad Black), amazing! I had only seen him once or twice in Germany and now he was there just in front of me. The other local DJ's were impressive also, the same new music in the clubs back home they were playing there. I met one of the promoters and they call themselves Reverse, I think. Maybe they should should move to Berlin? I am serious. I don't think those guys are very much appreciated for their talents there in Texas.
They place is not very big. Feels very nice for afterhours. I feel it was just the right size and perfect dark environment for the exceptional music. Decorations were bizarre and unique, and I loved it! The drinks were very good and the bartender kept them coming. Oh, and I'm not so sure but I do think the sound system was superb. However, I understand the promoters bring their own equipment. i think it was better than most sounds in Germany. I will be moving to Houston back soon for my job with my girlfriend and hope to make it to another show at Jet Lounge.
Nice, Laid-Back, Hip. A very diverse crowd, sometimes more specific depending on the band or venue going on. Great sound, stage, and bands. Nice, modern set-up. Always free parking available on the streets and back parking lot. Easy to access from highways. Friendly staff and cool in many ways. Can be a bit too loud too converse at times.
Great Lounge. We went there for the Tues. Nite Blues Jam sponsored by the Houston Blues Society. Had a good time. The HBS coordinator was very friendly and an excellent host. The decor is well done, especially the color changing "limo lights" on the bar partition. One bartender charged us $4 for domestics. Then while we were seated, a waitress said domestics are $3, but not to tell the bartender she said so. They need to get that situation straightened out. But hey, it's a dive bar. You gotta know that going in. I don't think the reviewer who said "They Steal Your Money" gets out much.
JET LOUNGE DOES NOT STEAL YOUR MONEY.
There is a small fee for leaving cc overnight but most of the time they are waived.
The jet lounge offers reasonable drink prices a downtown Houston Venue.
Thanks!
They Steal Your Money!. If you do plan to hang out at the Jet Lounge, don't pay with plastic! They (illegally) have signs posted saying they will charge you 20 dollars if you don't close out your tab. I went there last week to watch my younger brother play in his band and since I don't usually drink, I forgot my debit card. I called my brother who was still there to make sure my tab was closed, which it was. So the next day I go pick up my card and I see that someone had filled in a 20 on the tip line, which I did not authorize. My tab was only 12 dollars, plus I tipped in cash, which was more than anyone else did, hence their empty tip jars! Well I call and ask nicely for them to refund my money and they claim they can not due to their policy. My mom works for the courts and so she calls them to let them know they can not charge themslelves a tip because I forgot my card. She asked them nicely to refund my money and they said they will give me 10 dollars back in cash but I would have to drive out there to pick it up, which is 50 minutes away from my house. I had to file a police report with harris county for theft and will be contacting the local news channels to investigate the bar. This is a poor way to run a business. I would not recommend this place at all.
okay place. a small lounge. i think they have adaquate parking unless it's a big crowd. congenial bartender, definately a low-key place without a lot of lounge poser types. the crowd can vary in age and style depending on what happens to be going on in a given night. usually no cover i think, even if bands are playing. a good place to grab a drink with a friend(s). maybe usually not a great place for singles looking to mingle with other singles.
Hot DJ. I went to this lounge last night and it was DJ night. It's kind of House music and everybody was dancing. It was so sick and I totally had a blast. It was packed and it took a little while to get a drink from the bar. There was this girl on the swing (yes a fxxking swing) on top of everybody the whole night. Bartender was cute but was too busy to chat with me and my hot girlfriends. Gay. Some drunk guy kept hitting on us even with our boyfriends next to us. Anyway overall it was great and will definitely go back.
Music Dance Music Dance. I love the decor of this bar. It's dark and intemate with red LED lighting all over the place. They have this little stage for different events. I went oto a birthday party there when L"Amour de Femme did a sneak peak performance with a dancer pole. It was so hot. The sound system is unbelievable. Definitely will add that spot to my list of FAVS
Great Music. I've heard about this place because my friends always tell me about it. The word on the street is that the best house music can be found here. They weren't kidding!!!! The in house dj's are awesome. I've been going for two months now and the music is great. I think the best nights are Fridays and Saturdays. The crowd is cool, not getto like the other bars in the area, and the music is really top notch. Great to take a date and try something completely different. I highly recommend this place because the atmosphere is perfect for great music and just having a beautiful night.
