Not so Much

Could it be anymore obvious that the one positive review of this place was by someone who has something to do with the spa? Does he/she think we're all idiots? A word of advice for that person on the next try at an "unbiased" review to make your personal interest a little less obvious: Don't hawk gift certificates! I had one experience with this place, and it was bad. Like one of the other reviewers, I thought the house setting was a little creepy. But worse was that I had to wait about 45 minutes even though I had an appointment,. Right in front of me, the person at the front desk called the technician/therapist/whatever who was supposed to do my treatment. Apparently, the guy had a hard night of partying and wasn't even out of bed yet. I probably should have left then, but I waited because I was told he lived close by. When he arrived 45 minutes later, the tech/thera/what was unapologetic about being late, half asleep and evidently not thrilled about working that day. The services were also overpriced. Like others, I think this concept is great , and it has worked in cities like NYC. I think it would work in Houston if it was done more professionally. I doubt this place will be in business very much longer if it still is.

Upscale - no way, Experienced Staff - no way, Keep Looking

I had the worst spa experience I ever had at this so-called spa. One exceptional service was the haircut. I liked the haircut I received. I may (and will certainly have to strongly think about it) return for additional haircuts. I have been in multiple spas all over the world and this was by far the worst. The manicure and pedicure was a horrible experience. The attendent was a nice guy but keep repeating that he was not hitting on me just giving me a manicure even after the 10 times I explained that I did not think he was hitting on me but giving a manicure (Duh!). That was in addition to the fact that all of my cuticles were bleeding after the manicure. The nails were never clipped. Same for the pedicure, nails never clipped and this time he didn't even bother with any cuticles (thank you for that). Also, what ever was used in the water irritated my feet and so they were stinging and red for hours later. The facial was likewise a terrible experience. First I was told to get strip down to no clothing at all (even though I was robed). I am not modest in the least but explained that I did not see the need to be completely bare for a facial and the response was for me to get over it. I told him I thought he was doing extractions way to hard. His response was that no one likes extractions. Having many many facials around the world, I explained that I know what extractions should feel like. His response was "You are not bleeding" - nice. Then I had a concert that evening which I did not attend because when I got home I noticed that I had red marks all over my face from the extractions. I could go on and on, trust me there was alot more irritation than I have room to mention here. My recommendation - forget you ever saw this place listed - nice thought for Montrose but this place is not it. The staff was clearly not experienced or trained on providing these services, except again for possibly cutting hair which I did like very much.

  • Pros: Haircut
  • Cons: Inexperienced staff, pedicure, manicure, facial

I had high hopes for this recent Montrose addition spa for "metro" men, but was very dissapointed with the facilities. The spa is located within a residence, which made me feel uncomforatable and the treatment rooms offer little privacy. I had a massage, and the therapist was actually pretty good, but halfway through the treatment another client was in the next "room" which is basically just sperated by a curtain, who spent the remainer of my treatment coughing up flem and talking about his diabetes. Not exactly how i want to spend my time relaxing. The point of going to a spa is to feel relaxed and take a mini "vacation". I will not be returing.

  • Pros: skilled massage therapist
  • Cons: lack of privacy in treatments, facilitiy is in a residence, high prices, facility felt unclean
