Tips for Thai Cottage

March 19, 2013

I went to Thai cottage today and received service that was awful and then when I called to complain I pretty much got called a liar and asked for proof on their part of any wrong doing. I found a hair in my egg roll, my work associate ordered green curry and it came out as chicken pa Thai, and as the rest of us were eating she had to wait an extra 10 minutes for her food to then arrive. Both her and I ordered a desert to go, she ordered sticky rice with coconut ice cream and I ordered fried bananas with ice cream. They bring our to go orders and mine does not have ice cream, I tell the waiter we don't have time to wait and i just want my check. When arriving back at my office i open the box and notice I received egg rolls instead of fried bananas. Upon calling the establishment to complain for all the inconveniences I was told they would offer me a free ice cream and sticky rice replacement, then received a phone call back telling me that I needed to produce the egg rolls in order to receive these items. I have worked in customer service for 8 years and I felt that it was extremely rude to offer a product to a custom then tell them they were a liar about the food they relieved. I will never go back here and am going to tell everyone I know to visit other Thai food restaurants over this one.

I eat here once a week!. The food is mostly delicious. Stay with the menu though, and don't order the specials....The dinner is more expensive, but lunch is an absolute steal of a deal. Entree, egg roll and soup or salad for under $7. 2 people can eat lunch for around $12 or $13 and have leftovers! The curry is delicious, as are many of the noodle dishes. However, I must agree, they do emploee a rude waitress who will barely address you and act like anything you ask her for is an inconvenience. She is remarkably unpleasant. But aside from that, this is a wonderful lunch venue.

Great lunch prices. My husband and I went for lunch, which we heard was the best time and cheapest price, and loved it. I ordered the pork pad Thai, it came with the soup of the day (don't know name but it was tasty), a salad w/ light peanut sauce, and a spring roll. I ordered my spring roll fresh but you can also get it fried - it comes with this amazing peanut dipping sauce. Since we spent so little on the meal, we splurged and ordered the coconut ice cream w/ sweet rice. Now don't let the sweet rice turn you away, this dish was amazing. The normally serve it with slices of fried bananas, but since they were out they knocked some $ off the price.

We did go for dinner but the atmosphere wasn't the same and prices were a little high.

LOW QUALITY, OVER PRICED. DO NOT EAT HERE!. Most important of all, if your "Asian"! Don't eat there. The food there isn't so great but beyond that the service is much worse. One the waiter is so rude! (The one that doesn't write down your order) as if she was able to remember everything and not only that it's overly priced.

Tasty Thai. The view of Thai Cottage from the street does no justice; nothing about inside says

"restaurant in a shopping center." Our server was sweet and efficient. We were able to enjoy an appetizer, two entrees, and dessert for under $25. That is my kind of meal.

BAD FOOD, BAD SERVICE. I was overcharged for my meal even the menu confirmed it. A nasty food server was very rude and did not admit fault. The food was not far from a bad service.

Not going back there again, ever.

WANT BAD FOOD? EAT HERE.. It was kind of pricey to eat at this restaurant. At first I tried their Pad Thai and couple other dishes, they can?t even make Pad Thai right. It was too sweet like they throw in a pound of sugar. Worst yet my meal was ruined by other couple dishes, basil chicken was a load of grease, not to mention their curry dish. Definitely this place isn?t for me because I?ve been eating lots of Thai food. Probably this is the worst Thai place I ever had. If you are looking for a Thai place to impress your date, don?t go there. You may loose your date.

the best thai food in clear lake. ...and probably the only thai restaurant on this side of town, but nevertheless, it is probably one of the better thai places i've been to in the greater houston area. i love the ambience!: a very small, but quaint space ... dimly-lit, cozy, with a touch of trendiness but not over the top. the quality of food is awesome - surely not to disappoint~! a great place for a romantic dinner for 2 ... or a small gathering of friends. definitely an enjoyable dining experience.*

This Bay Area Thai food cafe is strip mall on the outside, but cozy and quaint on the inside.. The Scene
With its urban/tropical decor and dim lighting, Thai Cottage sets the stage for an un-hurried meal that helps diners escape from a harried day. Brick walls, green- and orange-painted accents, dark-wood tables and a row of banana trees make this smallish eatery a pleasant place to linger over a meal. The servers are friendly and wholly unpretentious.

The Food

The menu includes from mild to spicy, with soups, salads, rice, noodles, grilled meats and vegetarian dishes. The spring rolls are delicately wrapped and go well with peanut sauce. The shrimp mermaid appetizer comes mixed with crab, then grilled and served on skewers. The seafood Delight is lightly sauteed, keeping the veggies juicy and allowing the shrimp, scallops, fish and mussels to retain their individual flavors. The pad thai is served with shrimp, onions and bean sprouts, topped with a homemade sauce.
