Best Sushi in Galveston. Best sushi in Galveston! Not as good under new ownership, but the rolls are still delicious. My favorite are the scorpion roll, dragonfly roll, and roll of fire. A little expensive for Galveston, but nice atmosphere.

The martinis are to die for!!! Sky Bar has ushered in cosmopolitan air to Galveston. One needs to frequent the restaurant to do justice to its offerings - a great place to hang about and have fun - to see and be seen.
This upscale sushi joint in the heart of the Strand is reminiscent of the chef's hometown of Manhattan..
The Scene
Sky Bar stands out from its Strand District neighbors with a blue neon sign and a 10-foot-high metal door. The front bar is ultrahip, with blue light emanating from a clear bar top, illuminating the glasses and bottles from below. The dining room has a dozen tables, while a back room, used for overflow crowds and private parties, has additional seating and is lined by zebra-print couches. The crowd is mixed, with island old-timers mingling with visiting hipsters.
The Food
Sky Bar has all the usual sushi treats, plus a few local creations that warrant a taste. The raw oysters are palm-sized and feature a dollop of caviar atop each one. Black cod miso is presented with crispy edges and a smoky sweet taste. The signature non-fish dish is the royal flush--a mix of barbecued beef, chicken, shrimp and vegetables served on a skewer and topped with teriyaki sauce.
