What People Are Saying About Mayuri Indian Restaurant

In Short – Somewhat hidden in a bustling strip mall, Houston's Mayuri is the second incarnation of a restaurant that has been pleasing Dallas-area diners for some time. Popular with office workers and the ethnic community, the menu features northern, southern and Chinese-style Indian food. Favorite dishes include goat curry, tandoori chicken, grilled lamb and fresh vegetables. The naan bread is fresh and warm and the mango ice cream provides a cooling finish.
Good dinner on weekday night
by iLike2Eat00
Went there on Thursday night 8pm, was not crowded, food came within 10-15 minutes. Ordered Lamb Masala (medium spicy) and Mayuri Special Sauce Lamb (not spicy), both were very good. Wait staff was okay, we waited an extra 5-6 minutes before the waiter came back to take order, water was filled promptly and plates cleared out promptly. The food was just as good and authentic as other Indians places that we like. I would go back again.
- Pros: Variety and taste of dishes
- Cons: Bathroom was not very clean
Plastic food and bad service marks the place
by demonchef
I have eaten at street vendors with more flare than this place. I went in and sat down a menu was presented and that ended the service. I ordered my all time favorite Indian dish Vindaloo, which came a la carte with one piece of bread, and was not, offered any starters or anything to go with my one dish. The server was kind of blunt with me and told me it was spicy, not that I could not tell from the small chili peppers on the menu. When my dish came to me I had to ask for the menu again to order another dish because I wasn't asked if there will be anything else. May be they should hire real wait staff and not their cousins. The food was overpriced for the portions I received and the service, how to say this with tacked, it sucked on ice to put it mildly. So in closing if you want real Indian fare and portions size appropriate to the price find another place to go, If you like bad service and over priced under portioned food be my guest.
- Pros: leaving the restaurant
- Cons: coming in to the restaurant
Worst Customer Service in Houston
by jiznay
Mayuri has average food and even worse customer service. The manager wouldn't know what customer service was even if it bit him on the nose. I ordered take out from Mayuri and when I asked that they show me the contents of my order before I left (because I have had bad experiences of getting home with items missing and of course I would not go back to the restaurant at that point) he said NO and that I should do it myself. After I went through everything I actually pointed out that something was indeed MISSING and this guy had the nerve to still debate me on why I needed to see my order. 10 minutes later he still was arguing me - last time I checked - THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT. I will never go to this restaurant again.
- Cons: Management, Customer Service, Food Quality
