Angel is amazing. He was extremely patient with my long hair and listens to all your requirements patiently. He gave me a great cut and fantastic styling tips. Will be back in fe months.
Needed a major changeover in color plus a cut. Booked an appt where a consultation was recommended. Generally they will do a consult and schedule the service later. I really needed the color pretty quickly and the receptionist said he would see what he could set up. Following day, greeted and everyone was more than pleasant! Sat w/ Tad who explained everything that was going on with my hair and what I really needed to do. Being unsure about the color choice, I asked him to select a color. The color he chose was spot on to some that I had been looking at. After hearing everything he definitely took the time to go over pricing. Perhaps a little on the pricier side for some, but coming from the north east the salon was definitely on par with some of the NYC places I have been. Best of all they were able to perform the services the same day!! Tad did a fabulous job with not only my color but my cut as well. I can't even express how awesome it looked. I will visit Azur again and I am not quite sure where all the complaints came from on this site. Thank you Tad!
If you have not discovered Azur Salon
on South Shepherd, then you are depriving yourself of looking totally fabulous!! This is a top-notch salon with a top-notch experience for all clients. The stylists are involved in on-going classes to keep their techniques at the high level they provide. My stylist is Jim Bagley. He is superior!!!
Run, don't walk to the phone and make your appointment!!! This salon is by far one of my greatest discoveries since moving to Texas 2 years ago!!!!!
Horrible receptionist.
The service and products is standard, definitely not upscale.
The receptionists are rude and snobby. they put me on hold for 5-7 minutes twice.
I requested information about a product and never received a call back from them after having called them more than three times to remind them.
First impressions are everything!. I called to book an appointment because I was interested in an ombré type look for my hair. (nothing drastic just wanted a subtle difference in the color change) I asked the receptionist who she would recommend for this treatment, her response was: "that's not even in style anymore" long pause......! Are you kidding me? Who are you to tell me what in style and not in style? Especially over the phone when not even fully understanding what I want. NOT GETTING MY BUSINESS! Horrible customer service and bad attitude will not get you new clients.
You like purple hair?.
Yesterday was, quite possibly, one of the most expensive and horrifying days I've had in a long time. I went to Azur after reading a lot of really great reviews and decided to ignore the ones that were negative...if only I had done the opposite.
The salon is nice and the stylist was nice enough. I though I was being very, very specific about what had been done to my hair previously and what I wanted done. I had been blonde and went to a auburn/brown color, that color faded and I wanted a nice dark auburn. I thought he listened to me, and seemed to know exactly what he was doing. Step one ("the filler") went very well, and it was just a shade or two lighter than I wanted to be. I asked once again that we were gonna be dark but not too dark- and made the joke "Just don't dye my hair black!". I had mentioned that my hair had been "accidently" dyed black before and it was a horrible disaster.
WELL GUESS WHAT
I got a lovely black with a nice shade of violet.
I asked the guy who was doing my hair "is it purple? it looks very purple. it's really dark"
his response "oh no! this is not purple! this is what you picked out. its not purple"
After I got done drying it- the stylist next to me gave me this shocked look. I asked "it's purple isn't it?" he said "oh no! it's beautiful. it looks really good on you". but I could see in his eyes that he was horrified.
I quickly got dressed, hoping that maybe it was just my eyes. Everyone in the salon was like "oh its so pretty. do you like it". I didn't say I liked it, I just said it was shocking.
I paid ($235) and unfortunately, I still tipped the guy (I am a huge pushover and probably shouldve raised hell right then and there... instead, I just started crying).
I really hoped that maybe in the sunlight it would look better and I was just being overdramatic.
Nope. Black. Black with a lovely hint of purple.
Now this wouldn't have been such a big deal if I wasn't getting my headshots done on Monday (and Wednesday was my ONLY day off)
Needless to say, I didn't want them to fix it, although I needed to get it fixed immediately but I was afraid they would turn it orange. So I went to another salon out in Sugarland.
"Beauty Indulgence Salon and Spa". The woman there was afraid to kill my hair even more than it already was. Instead of stripping the color from my whole head, she did it in very heavy highlight sections and then took those sections to a lighter brown. Now, my hair still isn't the auburn that I wanted, but it's much better than the black/purple that it was. This cost me another $300 for the corrective color and 4.5 hours of this poor womans time. I will be returning to her, she listened and was completely honest.
Azur does fine color, it just won't be what you want. And when they screw it up, just call Hunan at Beauty Indulgence in Sugarland. She will be there to listen to you and fix it.
Great Salon, Great People. I have been in Houston for 11 years. I have very fine hair and have never found someone to cut it correctly. That is until I met Cesar. I totally trust his judgement and his styles. I have finally found a place that I will continue to go to.
Do Not Get your Hair Colored here!!!.
Let me make this short and sweet. Orange hair for a hundred bucks? I don't think so. If you want details, read on:
Went in for ombre higlights, after lots of research about where to go. The one thing i said in the chair was" no orange," i was assured not to worry. Lo and behold, after hours in a chair, i left with wet hair (I should have waited for it to dry) which revealed itself to be VERY orange when i got home. The salon's Idea of "rectifying the situation" was to dye my hair darker the next day (i went in for lighter hair originally). A month later, those highlights are fading back to orange, and look gross.
Today I called up the salon to see if they would work with me to color my hair properly and get the orange out for good, and as i need a haircut, I would gladly pay for that. (I am looking for a long term relationship with a salon as I just moved here). I was told by the woman who answered the phone that them dying it darker was them rectifying the situation. They just didn't seem to care about my business... so I here i am again, looking for another salon. Im sure you all can understand that Im not willing to pay over a hundred bucks for something Im not sure will go well.
This is not a personal dig at Breanne, she colored my hair, who despite turning my hair orange seemed like a nice person. But its a shame that the salon wasn't willing to work with me on this one...I wasn't looking for free color for life, just show me you can do it right, fix your mistake, and Ill gladly pay for that service.
After 2 Years in Houston - Finally found my stylist!.
I have lived in Houston for 2 years now and have spent my time trying out the "best" salons in Houston only to find dissappointment at each of them. I am happy to say that after have an appointment with Breanne at Azur I have now found my go-to stylist, and my days of trying salon after salon are done.
When you walk into Azur you are greeted by a friendly reception area, and you can immediately notice the family feel of the place. Everyone there works together as a team to make your salon experience the best it can be.
I got a single process color and cut, and Breanne was AMAZING! She took the time to talk to me about what I didn't like about my current color & style and what I wanted to change. I have very fine hair that always falls flat and in my face, so after giving me the perfect cut she also walked me through different styling tips to help me get the volume I so desperately wanted. Jim also helped consult on my color, and he was also amazing - I went into the salon with my hair looking like it was about 5 different shades and left with a rich brown color with a hint of red.
Within a few hours I had someone asking me where I got my hair cut because they loved it - that has never happened to me before!
I definitely would recommend Azur, especially Breanne, to anyone looking for a great stylist they can count on!
Best Mens Cut. David is the best at AZUR West. I had a difficult time finding a salon with a stylist that understod my hair and what I wanted. David is the first stylist to give me the best cut !!! Products they sell are great btw..
