A friend of mine couldn't recommend Greg (owner) enough, so finally at her prompting I scheduled an appointment for cut and color with him. First of all, the salon is beautiful. Tons of fresh flowers and natural light. The reception staff is super friendly, which to me is a change from other trendy salons in Houston. I hate it when you walk into a place where you are about to drop a couple bills and they act like you are a nuisance to them. Not so at Azur. These folks are so friendly and attentive, I think they asked me three or four times if I needed anything to drink or to read. Greg is not only a brilliant hairdresser, he's also really attentive and friendly. He'll spout off the formulas for hair coloring from memory and then turn around and ask you if you need a refill on your beverage. He spent a lot of time playing with my hair and discussing with me what we should do. Now, my hair is a disaster. It's wavy and sometimes curly depending on the humidity that day. Frizz is a constant battle. I wouldn't have believed it if you had said so, but there is a way to cut curly hair that minimizes frizz and takes advantage of the natural body. This is the haircut Greg gave me. I LOVE my hair, and I cannot remember ever saying that, EVER. The cherry on top was that I was never pressured into buying product. Greg simply recommended a few things that would work well with my hair and left it at that. When I got to the front to pay, the receptionist complimented me on the new 'do and even compared it to how I looked when I walked in. Wow. I barely get a second glance at my old place. At Azur, it's like they go out of their way to get to know you. That, to me, is superb customer service.

I have had my share of bad hair color and cuts and have been through more hair stylists than there are in Texas. Finally, I found someone who does a brilliant job every time. Jim Bagley at Azur salon is the best colorist and cutter in the biz. I drastically change my hair color about once a year, frequently have highlights and get a cut about every two months and, thanks to Jim, my hair has never looked better. I can't recommend Jim highly enough to anyone who wants a great color and style. In addition to a great stylist, Jim has a fantastic personality and a great sense of humor. Try him out, you won't be disappointed!
Pros: Beautiful salon, great service, convenient to downtown
Cons: Expect to pay top dollar but worth it
