“It is a great place when the weather is nice.”
“keep having bad experiences, swearing to never go back , changing my mind, giving them another chance and then realizing nothing has changed.”
“love Sunday breakfast here, good food and people watching.”
“The salads are great, the services is good, and the value is decent.”
“Service is slow, orders are wrong or incomplete, drinks are not refilled and customers are ingnored - the staff has "avoid all eye contact " down to both an art and a science.”
Great little burger joint. This is a cute little neighborhood burger joint and BYOB makes it even better. The burgers are big and flavorful. The menu is varied (from salads to meatlof) and the service is OK. There is indoor and outdoor seating but they do need to do something about the swarming flies.
Editorial Review. Gourmet burgers, salads, breakfasts and coffees are served up in this souped-up 1930s Heights-area gas station.
Used to be great, declining steadily....
Dry Creek used to be a cool place in the Heights to go for breakfast on the weekends. We used to go very weekend for nearly a year. It was always filled with lots of people, kids, dogs...A few months ago, things changed. Now there is a 'hostess' who must seat you. But, she's rarely there to seat people (inside or just walking around) and even if the place is empty, she tries to seat you in the back corner or at the uncomforrtable picnic tables. Ask to sit at a particular table and be prepared to get a confused look. On two occasions, we've waited 10 minutes or more to be seated when there were AT LEAST 10 open tables - I understand waiting on busy weekends, but there is no excuse when the place is empty.
They also used to allow you bring your dog and tie them up- that's gone now, blamed on 'city code'..
Even the servers have changed - used to be very cool, nice. Now, seem irritated to be serving you.
All in all, Dry Creek used to have that hip Austin feel and now it's just not worth it. We complained to the management but got no reply. It's like no one cares if they have repeat customers.
Relaxed Eatery.
A great find in my new neighborhood (Heights / Rice Military). I love Sunday breakfast here, good food and people watching. I also recommend an evening burger or the Ahi Tuna Salad with pear accents!! Do what I do and make a busy day relaxed by calling in a pick up order and dinner is a breeze. Or, for a small uncorking fee take your favorite bottle (champers here) and gaze at the stars during dinner (yep...you can actually see stars in the night sky from the patio).
Yummy!
Some Tasty Burgers!!. Enjoyed a tasty burger with a tasty beverage on a sunny tasty day! HIghly recomend the tasty burgers...
Great burgers, salads and breakfast. I agree with the previous reviewer - they're breakfasts are great. But, they also have wonderful salads and burgers. Their fries are really good - thin cut with seasoned salt. The only negative is that the services is consistantly slow but the food is worth the wait - especially on a nice day when you can enjoy the outdoor patio.
Heights Hidden Secret. Sooooooo good. I don't think there is a bad menu item. Super good b-fast (I personally recommend the chicken and waffles) and damn good burgers. I'm hooked! Just moved to TX and I've been here at least 6 times.
