“had a bad feeling when we were parking, and I saw the crowd lining up to get in.”
“and he pointed the drink like if I was going to get it from the trash come on.”
“Overall, for any diverse music lover or anyone who just really loves to dance to top Hip/Hop & Pop Music & Latin Music & 80s music all in one night - this is a good place to go to.”
“great place for people of all ages”
“tend to avoid the big bar (unless one of my favorite bartenders is there)”
“Drink Houstons prices for cocktails is not expensive!”
Makes Rules as they go. After spending time at a bar in mid-town, I decided to check out the new Drink Houston. Much to my disappointment, for the second time they would not let my boyfriend in due to a dress code violation. The first time was in 2010 and they said he had no collar. We totally understood this so when we went the second time to new location they told us he had rubber soles on his shoes and could not get in. This was too much!!! He had nice dress boots that had a hard rubber sole. Needless to say I will not attempt a third time getting in to this club. I will also state that we are pretty people and the others they let in were definietely not!! YOU CAN KEEP YOUR DRINK HOUSTON!!! Mid-town and Washington Ave is the place to be!!
Discriminate. Drink houston ruin my bday on not letting me in with tattoos in which was my child name on my arm .......I have never been to a club like this .......Can't believe that discriminate against ppl with tattoos, just to think I was goin to spend my money in this place .....I hope this help ppl think before you go to this club!!!!!! Also the doorman was taking money to let ppl in if they were not in the dress code ...Just to let u know they are all about money
Went from inviting to elitist for the pretty ones only..
I have been going to Drink since City Streets closed down. It was a great relaxed atmosphere. Recently when I went, I found out they had moved to a newer facility. Which is good, because the other one was a bit small.
I had two problems with the new Drink. Price and dress code. Neither of which are very public on their website.
Friday night admission is $9 for ladies and $13 for men. Don't know what Saturday is cause I won't be going back.
Dress code: stated on website is "Fashionable nightlife attire, no polos, no excessively baggy clothes".
This leaves it wide open for the door people to let in who they think is "pretty enough" to come in. My friend and I heard many times from the door guy that the dress code for men was "business casual". Hard soled shoes only, collared button down shirts, slacks. Yet he made everyone who he let in as an exception, feel guilty for not having known the secret dress code. There were a lot of mad people standing around who could not get in. We asked why the dress code was not posted and he said that they could not tell people what to wear. It would be discriminating. It is a business and you can state the rules of a business and enforce them.
Besides all this trouble to get in, the inside was nice.
However, in the last 20 min before closing they turned the music up extra loud. I guess that was to get people to start leaving.
cant stop talking about it. I had a great time at drinks houston and I didnt even have to try to have a great time. Most of the time I go to clubs and just stand around because the music sucks or there are some crazy people about to fight but here it is not like that. The people are nice, and the music is great. Start to finish great.
AWESOME TIME AND GREAT MUSIC.
I have gone to drink Houston a few time and I LOVE IT.
If you are a snobby pretentious individual who think that only "perfect" statuesque people deserve to have a good time at a club then you dont belong here. This place appeals to me sooo much because its people being themselves having a good time. This is not a quality that alot of clubs have. The music is awesome, the 4 rooms are great because it gives you variety all in one place. The drinks are great and very reasonably priced compared to Washington. The crowd is soooo enterntaining, you see guy in wheel chair having a blast, dancer from boogie nights basically performing in the 80's room. Business people there to unwind, college students, older people, fat people, skinny people, hispanic people, white people...anyone that wants to go out and have a good time and not stand around pretending to be too cool to dance or break a sweat. I think this place is awesome and after exploring the Houston night life it is by far my favorite place and it goes well with my personality.
Pros: You can get in free before 11 saturday, or with more than 4 ppl on friday, good drinks, great music, Big place, $ clubs in 1
Cons: Parking!!!!
There is rarely a creepy weirdo who doesnt get the point that you are not interested but delusional people exist everywhere.
Recent Review for Drink Houston.
I don't know what the deal is with guys just standing in middle of the dance floor but at drink Houston half the dance floor is covered with dumb asses just standing and staring.
As of 6-12-10 I don't know where the hot women are or even any women are but I did not see any at Drink Houston because it was a total sausage fest in there, maybe they are all at the beach clubs I guess.
Got to admit it is a nice club with good music. A little suggestion would be to keep the music going because every time that the music stopped people would leave the club.
The good: Cheap Drinks, nice club music.
The bad: Sausage fest, no hot women on Saturday night.
Need to info before going out to club. Planning on making a trip out to Houston,I am I'm looking for a club were my husband and I can go, I'm in my late 30's and heard abut this club if any one can give me some info on club I would be grateful I DO NOT LIKE TO DANCE TO SPANISH MUSIC strictly 80"s and disco so let me know Thanks
fun for some...not so much fun for others... We went on a Friday night after the comedy show. The club is big. It gets 85% full. The dance floors in all clubs were full but you can still dance withouth bumping into people. You will not find super-model type of people in this club. You will find your average person here. The service was good. The people appeared to be friendly. It was a nice option to have 3 clubs in one. We will be back for sure. Here people come to drink, dance and have a great time. If you do not like crowded places, you will not enjoy this club. The music in all clubs was very, very good..
Great place to have a good time.
I have been going to Drink Houston for the past two years. It may not be as fancy as other upscale clubs, but there is plenty of space to dance on - unless it is a Saturday night. I have read other's peoples reviews and concerns over seeing too many Hispanics or Ethnic people - to that I say..Seriously?? You live in Houston!!!! Get a grip! I argue that you can always find a good mix of people from all walks of life.
Saturdays' are definitely the most packed, but on any given Thursday or Friday you can go and enjoy good music as its not as crowded and also take advantage of drink specials.
I would say for drinks/cocktails - you definitely have to know which bartenders to go to. I tend to avoid the big bar (unless one of my favorite bartenders is there)
and opt for the smaller ones on the upper section of the Drink Houston Room or get there early enough before 11 to be attended to.
The Drink Room houses three bars and large dance floor which does get messy at times when tipsy people decide to dance with their drinks in their hand. But thats really everywhere!! Definitely dont wear my expensive shoes when I go. I would also say there is not enough seating available for people watchers. lol One of the things I like is the huge screen they play music videos on as you try to dance to one of the Beyonce songs. LOL
If you are into Salsa or Merengue the Rain section of the club plays the best - mixed in with a bit of Cumbia, Bachata, Spanish Rock etc. Lately, they have started to play more of the Hip/Hop that you hear in the Drink Room. So its a bit of everything. The booths in this section are very dim - they could use a bit more lighting or then again it could be part of the ambiance.
The karaoke bar is pretty nice as well...the chairs could be better but they are comfy enough to sit back on and have a good laugh at people or sing along with them.
The 80s Room - Ill have to admit I really dont spend much time there but its definitely were large groups/parties of people gather and hear old jamz.
Overall, for any diverse music lover or anyone who just really loves to dance to top Hip/Hop & Pop Music & Latin Music & 80s music all in one night - this is a good place to go to. If you more into the retro - posh -techno need to be seen kinda of vibe, then you may want to try elsewhere.
oh my. I went for my cousins Birthday and it was like 8 of us and dont get me wrong I had fun when like in the begining but then it started to get later, and People where coming in like ants. In the main room gets full very fast and you dont have room to dance, nasty guys that are with there fat chicks are touching other girls a**, and their chicks dont care. I got my drinks very fast so that was a problem. One of my friends was dancing with her Boyfriend and this Cholo whannabe was trying to cut in like if it was his girl. We had to push him away. I really didnt like really at the end, and thats cause it should get better at that time. I really dont recommend it.
