The Scene – The Marriott's Burning Pear has instant appeal with its value-packed menu courtesy of popular Texas chef-cookbook author Grady Spears. The lofty dining room festooned with longhorns and copper accents enhances the cowboy-chic atmosphere, while diners are entertained by the glass-walled kitchen. Best Pork Chop in the Land
by ss1088 at Citysearch
I had to write this review just to describe how amazing the porterhouse pork chop is. It is by far the best pork chop I have ever tasted. It taste like it was smoked with apple wood and has a very flavorful glaze. Not to mention that it was cooked to perfection. No overcooked pork here. It was also served with tasty mashed potatoes with some kind of delicious mustard sauce. You can not go to this restaurant without having this dish.
I also had the fired green tomatoes which are good. I think the blue cheese ?dressing? makes the dish. The fried oysters were also quite tasty.
- Pros: Best pork chops, easy to get a table
- Cons: Parking, service seemes a bit slow
Town Center secret

This place is extremely under-rated because it's "just " a hotel resturant. The food was excellent...a friend of mine recommended it because a friend of his was actually staying at the hotel, tried it, and was really surprised. There are several good items on the menu (everything I've tried so far was good) but I like the chicken fried steak a lot. I've also gone in for drinks and the bar staff was extremely friendly.
A Great Take on Comfort Food

I was a little skeptical of this place because it's in a hotel. I can be a little snobby about restaurants, but I humored my mother and went. The atmosphere was comfortable and relaxed. We were seated quickly and served a basket of bread to start off. My mother had the spinach salad and I ordered the mixed greens salad. The salads were so good, her spinach salad had goat cheese, pecans and balsamic dressing. The pecans were very interesting, sweet and crunchy and a slight hint of spiciness for a little kick. My mixed greens salad was also good, with a tangy citrus vinaigrette. Our entrees were amazing. My mom's chicken fried steak was as big as her head! The breading was actually light and the steak tender. I ordered the short ribs, thinking they were ribs you pick up and eat, but it was actually a large bone-in rib with mashed potatoes and braised vegetables. The meat was so tender, I didn't need a knife, it came right off the bone just using my fork. I was very impressed with this restaurant. The menu was mostly comfort food with a fine dining twist. A good, hearty, original alternative to the chain restaurants in Sugar Land. I was pleasantly surprised.
