The Scene
A welcoming and lively atmosphere awaits diners at this Galleria-area hot spot. A foyer and front bar make way to a spacious dining room decorated with blue checkered tablecloths and pictures of yia yia (grandma) Mary herself. TVs are plentiful and the ceilings high, but the noise level remains tolerable, even at peak times. Expect table service and not counter-area ordering as before.

The Food
The menu is accessible (it's still a Pappas restaurant after all), but remains true to its Greek roots. The appetizers (or mezes) are exceptional here, so opt for a sampler or order a few standouts like the salty caviar dip taramosalata, stuffed grape leaves and saganaki cheese flamed tableside. Simply seasoned and grilled lamb chops leave you wanting more. Gyros are another favorite here, in traditional lamb and beef with soft, handmade pita and crisp tzatziki sauce. Other options include souvlakis, moussaka casserole and a variety of shrimp and fish.

After many people told me "you have to try this place", I did. I was very disappointed. First, you have to park in the garage that's a far walk, especially awful on a rainy day, cuz their lot only fits 5 cars, Second, all the tables are so close together you can hear everyone else's converstaion except your own. And lastly, the portions are small & the food is not authentic or very tasty. It's just another overpriced Pappa's restaurant. If I ever have a craving for Mediterranean food, I'll just stick with Cafe Mezza and Grille. They never disappoint you.

Arrived for dinner before a dressy function on 3/22/09. As we were being seated a waiter dropped a full tray of food splashing my wife and her friends black pants with soup. All the restaurant personnel cared about was cleaning up the floor. We had to insist they give us napkins and soda water to clean the soup off their black pants. My wife then ordered the salad with the shrimp for an extra $6. The plate came with 3 small shrimp - at $2/each!! I complained to the manager Natalie and was told that's the price! No good faith compensation was offered for the mess on my wife's and friends pants except an offer to pay for the drycleaning. Not good enough! We will not return there are many other good cheaper restaurants in Houston

the rice here is delicious, and the kabobs are average, however the portions are small compared to the huge prices you pay.....i would go back, if it were not so overpriced considering the type of food they offer!
