“While they offer a great variety of sushi that always tastes fresh, it is not worth the experience as a whole.”
“:) For your cocktail - you have many sakes to choose from, the regular cocktails, but what you really must see is their long list of unique martinis!”
Nice people watching. This place is more about the people watching than the sushi. Don't get me wrong...it's good, but not great.
Really clean & romantic decor. This place was SO pretty, I was scared that I was going to spill something and mess it all up. Everything was just so..white. I really liked the area it's located in..but food-wise..that was just ok. Everything my guests and I ordered was so small considering the price we were paying for it. And I was not too pleased with my sushi. The beef skewers that I ordered was a little over-cooked. The only thing I felt like I got my money's worth for was the Mochi ice cream (ice cream wrapped with Japanese flour). On coming back..I would do so only if I had to for a meeting or what-not.
Great!. Make sure you make a reservation. My experience at Uptown Sushi was fantastic. The pan seared tuna was out-of-this-world. I have never had anything like it before or since. Trendy or not, this place is worth a try.
Worst service ever!. I had the worst dining experience ever at this restaurant. It took over one hour from the time we ordered (NOT from the time we sat down at the table) to the time we got our food. The waiter did not bother to check on us. We had to ask the busboy to get the waiter for us several times. Each time he said the food was coming but we never got it. When we finally told him to just bring us the check for the drinks and cancel the food order, he brought us the food. An hour later, we got the check and everything was wrong. They charged us for twice the food that we ordered (the waiter confirmed this). When we complained, the manager, without apologizing, asked us if we were sure that we didn't get two rounds of food! We waited another 30 mins for them to get the check corrected. We have to tell them either to bring the correct check or we would leave without paying. They finally brought the check 5 mins later. The manager did not offer any apology for all of our waiting. We arrived to the restaurant at 8pm and did not get to leave until 11:30pm. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Good experience. The only complaint I had was the amount of people. Drinks are stiff, food was good and service is good. Very good vibe. Having lived in Tokyo, I had some high expectations especially with all the praise I had heard. Its definitely lived up to them.
None of my business!. The experience was disgruntling. I tried the Eggroll Prawns, Lobster and Shrimp Eggrolls and the Rib-Eye Roll. The Prawns were basically fried shrimp with a sweet sauce- nothing special to write home about. The flavor of the tiny bits (menu said chunks) of lobster and shrimp in the eggrolls was drowned out by a runny, heavy cream cheese sauce. The Rib-Eye Roll could have been decent but it just left me with a bad taste in my mouth. The california roll did not have snow crab but instead a crab mix. When I asked the servers about their pastry chef, I was told that none of the desserts were made in house. When the manager came by and asked if I had any questions he was extremely rude. He seemed to already be irritated by something and just started FREAKING OUT!!! I'd only go back if they gave me money!

I felt like they thought I wasn't good enough to be in the restaurant. Beware the wine rates; HOUSE wine is $9.00 a glass, when I know I can buy a whole bottle of the same wine at the store for about $10.00.
The sushi was really tasty, which did save the trip, but this is definitely NOT a place to go if you are on a budget. It's also not a good place if you have more than 4 people in your party because their aren't very many tables, and most of them seemed to be for 2 people.
The service needs work but the sushi is good. Twice now at this restaurant I've had poor service - drinks not being refilled; slow, slow service, forgotten items. Also twice they've been out of regular salmon but are happy to offer the more expensive items. The food was good so it somewhat salvaged our visits. At New York City prices they need to work on the service.
Who's our waiter?. wow... i guess america has gotten to this place. apparently, neglect is included in the gratuity. i went with five of my friends to celebrate a friend's engagement expecting a night filled with lavish excess... what we got was horrible.drinks took forever to get to the table and our unagi was cold.we wanted to address these issues with our waiter, but he was nowhere to be found.granted, the restaurant was busy, but for what we were paying, i expected some courtesy.on top of it all, they tacked on a tip i felt was not appropriate.i ain't comin back.
Pricey and Delicious-Refreshing Atmosphere. Went here once for lunch. The quality of the the sashimi (freshness, taste, preparation) was superior. I think the special was around 25$ too, so you get what you pay for. The difference is probably unintelligible to someone that doesn't eat sushi often. The atmosphere is trendy and nice, I want to go back for evening cocktails sometime at the pretty bar.
